Last night I watched the 6:30 ABC news and they ran a story on Museum Tours in Colorado. Two Fundamentalist Christian men were showing a group of children through the Museum with particular interest in the evolution exhibit. I could not believe the tripe these two men were spouting. Man and the Dinosaurs existed at the same time and that T-Rex and his buddies were not flesh-eaters and that death did not occur and the reason for their extinction was the great flood. I guess they didn't like their bookings on the Ark. The big one was that the Earth is only 6000-10000 years old.Talk about mind control (brainwashing) I don't know which terrifies me more Fundamentalist Christians or Fundamentalist Muslims.

I read where Dawkins the English Aetheist has written a new Book saying that Darwin did get it right. The article also stated that 49% of Americans do not believe in Evolution with the biggest preponderance being in the Southern States the so called bible belt. This took me aback. That 49% of an educated, populace believed this way. 160 mil. out of 330 mil., it boggles the mind. As you know by some of my previous statements that I have no use for organized religion and I do not believe in the biblical god instead I believe in the Universe as the Creator. This however is an example of indoctrination on a massive scale.

I look on the bible as a Mythology/History/Moral Code for one group of people, namely the Hebrews. I do not look on it as "The Word of God" but as a record of the Hebrew people and their attemps at explaining the World around them . They were after all at the begining a semi-civilized nomadic people confronted daily by the workings and the wonder of Nature. How better to explain their subjugation by their enemies than to say God is angry with us for we have sinned. This sits better than saying we got beaten because the enemy was stronger and better. I see Moses as a Liberator and a Lawgiver. He used the natural phenomena of nature and turned it against the superticious Egyptians and convinced Rameses to set his people free. What better way to regain and keep control than to wander off for awhile then show up with the Ten Commandments saying these are the Laws given to me by God. He rightly deserves his place as a great leader. I believe in a creating governing force. The Universe did not just happen it did not it nor does it evolve in Chaos something is in control. Most people will call it God I call it The Creator.

I just reread your comments posted on 30 Sept. where you stated " To me the debate is were we and our world just an accident or did we and our world evolve with guidance of some higher being." Back in the 50's Issac Azimov wrote a book entitled "The Double Planet" as you know he was not just a Sci Fi writer but also a physicist. In it he discusses the possiblity of other life in the Universe and says that if this world and its' inhabitants are the only source of life in the Universe then we are a Freak of Nature and that as Nature abhors and will not tolerate Freaks we are doomed to extinction. I believe that there are two possibilities:-
1. We are merely one species of life in a Universe brimming with life. or
2. We are the beginning, the first in a great experiment wrought by the Universe and that if it suceeds the Universe is ours.
Personally I believe in the first possibility but I must admit possibility number 2 tweeks the ego.
