I'm writing from the Bask Country. We are 8 friends and we want to tatoo "forty" (not 40) in Gaelic. I'm looking for this and I don't find it. Perhaps here anybody will help us ???
We would like to use the Gaelic script but I just find this:
1.- We don't know which is the translation for "forty" in Gaelic 2.- We don't know how can we write this translation in Gaelic Script 3.- My english is quite bad, really bad.
Help us, please. Thanks, Matías. PD: If anybody wants anything in bask languaje....

My Gaelic is pretty basic as I only started to seriously try and learn it. But as numbers are fairly basic.... The counting system is based on twenties -fichead- therefore "forty" is "Dà fhichead" or "Dhà fhichead" I'm not sure if you 'lenite' or not perhaps a more experienced Gaelic speaker might clarify please? Anyway it is pronounced, "Da hiceaj" (Dh is a light g sound).
Edit: I forgot to add, Dà fhicead literally is "two twenty" in English it would be interpreted as "two score" (i.e. "Four Score and Seven Years..." [87] )

bonjour lamorte!!!j'espere que vous trouvez la numero, peut-etre les numeros sont la meme, comme en francais...but that's just my opinion, which may or may not help you....there are some gael-talk speakers here at cr....you could also just have it done in script like what you find in the book of kells but any roads welcome home and greetings from the great white north!!
