Checking out the new post and then I'm gonna' hit the flat side. Today hubby and I went for a Sunday drive, that took us 8 hours and we traveled 306 miles. Went out on the motorcycle and traveled to Mt. Airy, NC. Went out on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a short distance. We had a good time and the mountains are beautiful, of course I am partial to mountains! biggrin.gif

Everyone have a good week!

Wow! Maggie! I know about Mount Airey! I lived in Asheville, NC for two years and it is beautiful country, eh? Never been to where you live though. Never got that far. That is a lot of miles in one day you made though, especially on a motorcycle! You must have a sore bum! wink.gif smile.gif

Yes, CR, but not too bad! We traded our 2000 Suzuki for a 2005 Suzuki C90. The seat is bigger and more comfortable than the old one. We take breaks and that helps alot. We plan on traveling down to the Smokey Mountains next month on the Suzuki for a few days, if I can get off work. Our 33th wedding anniversary is next month and I thought we might go for another honeymoon! wink.gif

Where in the Smokies will you be going to, maggiemahone1? Hubby and I own a timeshare in Gatlinburg, TN. and we usually go there for the week of our anniversary in May. Only 3 hours from our home so a short drive. smile.gif We were in N.C. a couple of years ago and rode on the BlueRidge parkway. Went to Grandfathers Mtn. Beautiful area.

BluegrassLady, we plan on going to Gatlingburg and maybe on over to Cherokee. The last time we were in The Smokies was in 1991. We still had 2 of our daughters at home, since then they have both spread their wings and flew away! Now hubby and I go as much as we can becuz we ain't gettin' any younger. biggrin.gif

Oh wow! I used to drive on the Blueridge Pkwy all the time and photograph there. It is so beautiful there.

Hey! It will be our 20th wedding anniversary on October 6 so we are close! We are taking our vacation next month as well, but just here in Arizona. I have had to fly back and forth to California so much this year that that pretty much took our vacation money. Oh well! Being together will be what's most important and another honeymoon too! smile.gif

Hope you have a terrific time, Maggie!

When I do get a Harley and learn to ride, I'd like to explore the two lane highways in Illinois and Indiana. Possibly Wisconsin as well.

The first time I was in Gatlinburg was on our honeymoon in 1970, so you can see why it holds a special spot in my heart. inlove.gif

You will likely notice a lot of changes since you were there last. The town has gotten too commercial but the area is still gorgeous. Enjoy yourselves. wink.gif

Thanks so much, CelticRose. The Parkway is beautiful and the scenery is spectacular. We'll probably travel the BR Parkway some when we travel down to the Smokies. Have you ever been up in the Highlands of Boone, NC? I like it there and I love shopping at Blowing Rock, ever been there? I bought me a dulcimer there a few years back from a man that owned a shop there. Ever now and then I get it out and plonk on it. I'm just not musically inclined! biggrin.gif

MDF, I seen so many Harley's today it was mind boggling, I still prefer my Suzuki, it's big and bad! biggrin.gif Just got to get some louder pipes later on. I do like the sound of a Harley.

Mike! I believe that Route 66 begins in Illinois, does it not? You will have to ride your Harley the Route 66 highway all the way to California. I hear it is a really beautiful trip!
