Celtic Radio Community > General Discussion > New design up

Posted by: Macfive 19-May-2003, 06:58 PM
I had a few hours tonight so I decided to throw the new design up on our main page. Requests are still pointing back to our old design.

Listening to Highlander Radio is now a whole lot easier with a 1 click listen link.

And we have a new 64kps broadband stream through shoutcast. This stream support MP3Pro. If you download Winamp 2.9 and use the MP3PRO plugin(http://www.mp3prozone.com/download_winamp.htm), Highlander Radio will sound like a 128kps CD quality stream.

Well, time for me to study. Enjoy!

Great feedback, thank you! But this is really just the beginning of the much anticipated redesign. A lot of the features are going to be self-maintaining, so once they are designed I can just sit back, sip on me beer and watch the CD turn round and round! :)

How does the load time look on the frontpage? I am trying to decide what else I can add to the frontage and what needs to be off loaded to another page

I think it looks great!!  I especially like the banner...the scene and pics ye set on it is wonderful.   :)

The page loaded quickly for me.... but, seem to be having a wee bit o'trouble listening.  Not quite sure what the problem is, it was working really well before.

Everything is loading quickly. No real pause to speak of.

:p
one thing I have noticed, is that the current song playing, and what is actually listed, is off by about 1 to 1.5 minutes...
that's all.. nit picking I know.. Thought u might want to know...

Looks great.  Loads great. Tastes great.  Less filling.

My only complaint EVER, has been that when there is a "Various Artist" song played, another one can't be requested for quite some time... eventhough the artist is quite different.  Is there a way to separate just this one category?

One thing I like about the new broadband broadcaster is it displays the artist and title in iTunes' display window. Live365 didn't.

As far as I'm concerned, Live365 stinks. The radio tuner that comes with iTunes, what it lacks in quantity against Live365, it makes up for in quality (except for not carrying Highlander Radio biggrin.gif ). One of the actual commercial radio stations I get with iTunes is KSL, which is the newsradio station in Salt Lake City. I searched Live365 for it and didn't come up with anything.

Wow, didnt know this, but now that  I do it will be fixed - probably not right away but in time. Thanks!

I had the "WinAmp" player on the old site, but even though I still use the WinAmp with broadband connection, the sound is MUCH better - no skipping or breaks in the music!

I also like the way the new homepage is set up the popdown links make it easy to navigate. Not so much "visual clutter" to sort through to find what you need.

Thanks Macfive - you are doing a WONDERFUL job!

I like the fact that I can sit and listen to my music while I surf elsewhere on the internet too.....

Thank ye, Macfive... for the help with that technical trouble.    :)   All seems to be working fine now.

Fantastic site. Great music. Despite the protests of a few co-workers around me, Highlander radio is now the official soundtrack of my office. I've listened to many Celtic internet radio sites and this one really beats all! biggrin.gif

One cool feature about the new board is how it has that list of who's posted the most messages. I had no idea that I was #6 biggrin.gif .

And to all of you behind me, tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif !
