Now I know damn well that we all have gotten screwed over in the Fast food drive thru... What is your worst experience with this?

Here is my MANY bad experiences....

It was around 8am in the morning and I was rushing to get to work... I stoped off at the local ATM because I had absolutely NO cash on me. So I pulled out a $20 from ATM (they only come in increments of $20).

So I went into the McDonald drive though. After 5 minutes of them messing up my order I finally set them straight (so I thought). The total came out to around $4.35. So I handed the first cashier my crisp $20. Low and behold this dip sh*t gives me back $5.65 in change.... I said "Woah, woah, woah.. wait a minute, I gave you a $20". This kid goes, "no you didn't, you gave me a $10". I said "IT WAS A $20". The kid said "no I SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES ITS WAS A $10!". I said "LISTEN!, I don't know what kind of drugs you are currently on and I don't know if you ever pulled money out of an ATM, but they ONLY GIVE $20s!". So I asked, "let me talk to your manager". This idiot said "I will close this window on you if you don't stop arguing with me". I was about to park my car right there and run into the place and ring his neck I was that mad.

So finally the manager comes and says "My worker says you gave him a $10, now who am I to believe? My worker, or YOU?" I was soo mad. After a long debate and HEATED argument, they decided to get the idea of counting the register (which would have taken 20 minutes, maybe 30 with idoits like this counting it). I gave my cellphone number for them to call once that got it counted.

So hours later I get a call on my cell phone with a formal kiss to my backside saying they were wrong and I was right.. I did give them a $20 like I said and they counted the drawer and found that out.. Needless to say, they also got my order wrong.

Off I was soo MAD

Here is my MANY bad experiences....

Having worked for three (3) companies who sold/sell and maintain drive thru intercom systems to fast food restaurants. I have seen both sides of the windows in operation to many times.

Here are my thoughts based on those experiences:

1) The people you are dealing with aren't the brightest bulbs in the bunch (you aren't likely to be waited on by an Ivy Leaguer).

2) Always use the KISS principle (keep it simple stupid) when ordering at the drivethru. Your best bet is going to be one of the preassembled meals (they train them on how to make those). If you want something special, you'd bet ter go inside (not that they?re any smarter inside, but at least you can keep an eye on what they're doing to your food).

3) If they foul-up your togo order go inside to straighten it out. The person your dealing with at the window is most likely either a kid in highschool or an immigrant whose first language is not English. You also will probably be able to get hold of the manager easier that way.

4) Remember none of these people are well paid so remember the restaurant (and you) are only getting what they paid for.

That's my two cents,

MacE

Or just don't deal with MacArnolds, Burger Woof, etc, etc. There's a real deli around the corner that wants your business. Ok, so you have to get your shoes a little dirty but you saved yourself a headache. wink.gif

that is true.. and most the time it takes just as long waiting in a drive-thru as it does ordering your food inside a healthier deli resturant..

My ......errr...."best" experience was at a drive thru. I ordered, drove around, paid and then drove off......Needless to say, I really felt clever when I went through the drive thu the second time to get the food I had driven off without.... biggrin.gif bag.gif

No matter where you go in this world, you get what you pay for.

There is ONE exception to that, CELTICRADIO. You always get an honest answer here!!!!!!!

I never use the drive-thru at the fast food restaurants fot two reasons.

1. So I can see my order being prepared and correct them if necessary.
2. In case I have to use the facilities biggrin.gif ...

I just don't like drive thrus in general. I don't know exactly why. Although MDF reason #1 is probably pretty close. I don't like waiting in the car for anything. If my wife wants to run into the store, I sit and champ at the bit until she comes back. That's probably the reason.

My Worst Drive-thru Experience has been all of them.

1. You can never understand them. dry.gif

2. When they repeat it back to you, they have it all wrong. ranting.gif

3. When they bring it out to you, they still have it wrong and usually you find out when you are a couple miles down the road. censored.gif

I don't do fast foods like I use to. It usse to be if it didn't come thru a drive thru window I didn't eat it due to the crazy work hours.

Now since I have stomache problems I have to eat healthy and fix most things. The only thing I can go thru and pick up are bagels and it's hard to find a really good bagel place in the South.

Annabelle, I don't think your going to have much success finding bagels in Boone, N.C. either. I'd send you some from up here in Jersey but the Post Office workers would probably eat them before they got to you. biggrin.gif

When my older students start goofing off or dont complete assignments, I ask them to memorize six simple words...

"Do you want fries with that?"

Seems to get them back on task rather nicely.
