Hi all,

Have you heard about the Gathering of the Clan in Edinburgh in 2009?

Should be quite interesting to see.If anybody is interested in going you can look up on the site: www.thegathering2009.com

You'll get all the infos there.

Ahhh- wouldn't that be grand! Two years away. Seems like plenty of time to save up, but I don't know. Maybe I can get all the kids to just contribute to my 2009 Scotland fund instead of birthday, father'sday, and Christmas presents?

I plan on going before then. Not sure I could wait that long. I am looking for someone to join me about this time next year though.

Sorry Lady, didn't know this was here.... I did however add this to the Event Calendar.

Don't think I'll be able to make it as July is already a crazy month for me.

The whole of 2009 (well from 25 January to 30 November anyway) is Homecoming 2009 and there will be events the length and breadth of Scotland during that time.

The idea is to use the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns to invite the 50 million people worldwide of Scots descent to "come hame"

I hope they all will come although hopefully not all in the same week!

FlyGlobeSpan has cheap flights from Boston to Glasgow but they only fly during the Spring, Summer and Fall. http://www.flyglobespan.com/US/index.asp

They should be posting the schedule soon, since they start the flights again sometime in March. Unless you want to catch one of their flights from Canada, which fly all year round.

I want to go so badly! But I'll have just graduated from my masters degree...money? what money?

Many times man lives and dies
Between his two eternities,
That of race and that of soul
And ancient Ireland knew it all.

" To a Scot, the past clings like sand to wet feet,
and is carried about as a burden.
The many ghosts are always a part of them, inescapable."
Geddes MacGregor

Hope, fear, false-joy, and trouble,
Are these four winds which daily toss this bubble,
His breath’s a vapour, and his life’s a span;
Tis glorious misery to be born a man.
