Paul & Cr Finally Made The Big Time.

Congratulations Paul, Mike and the Porn companies just wanted to drop in and sign your guest book and say, well, I'm not really sure what they wanted to say but they found you none the less. You finally made the big time. Knew it had to happen eventually and before 6 mil hits.

Let me clarify this was what someone left in the CR Guest book.

And someone would do this, why?

Well hopefully, Paul can just delete it off of the guestbook.

They do it because they know they will get 40 - 50 - 100 hits on their web page before it gets deleted. Every hit is money in their pocket and a new e-mail address to spam.

This is very sad. It is not right that someone can just purposely use a site that is open and free to all.

The guestbook has an approval feature available and I have turned that on so that we will need to approve the guestbook entries before they show up, but the preview of the last guestbook entry is a simply query to the database. So I need to update the code to fix that.

I have also blocked the IP addresses (entire ISP range) of where this person came from.

But, if anyone sees a message that is spam in that guestbook, just post a new message so the spam message scrolls off the community home page. Until we get it fixed which will be a pretty high priority.

Paul it is a sad state when this type thing can be posted, unfortunatly it is also a means to hijack email addies and sometimes the entire web site!

I have closed all the guestbooks on my sites because of this!

It is being taught in "hacker school" how to use guestbooks to access email addies and other info from them and also how to use the sites address in spam emails.

A word to the wise:

Be VERY VERY careful what info you leave in a guestbook!

It looks like someone has too much time on their hands.

I say we find out where he lives and his telephone number and call him with our "honey to do lists" for around the house etc.

I know I have several chores that would make him think twice about doing that to someone else.
