I don't know is it location problem live365 stream is not stable and even I use DSL and wired LAN, I still get disconnected and with GPRS, thing goes worse, even unable to load same 24k bitrate, have lot less problem with liveireland
I'll contact their support and see if there is problem with the stream. I know they were having some issues. It's really the only option we have available right now.

It appears that live365 has now crippled the ability to listen through a pocket pc. When I try to use the method that was working I just getan error message. To drive home the message, they lock up the pocket pc until I do a soft reset. It is difficult to express an honest opinion of live365 without using unacceptabe vulgarity.
I have written to live365 and received this message. Not much help, but I would like to try these traffic tools they talk about when there are issues.
Hello
Thank you for contacting Live365 customer support. We're pleased we can assist you.
There are many things that could be causing a broadcast to be skipping, buffering or dropping. The first thing to check is your internet connection. Make sure that your are listening to a broadcast that is designed for your internet connection speed. You should also perform a bandwidth speed test to determine if your conection to the internet is performing as it should. Go to www.dslreports.com/stest to perform such a speed test.
Another possibility could be that internet traffic is causing the problem. This can be determined by performing a traceroute. This will show the path that the data will take as it travels from the broadcasting server to your computer. There may be a bottleneck along the way that is causing the data to not transfer at the desired rate. Go to http://noc.live365.com to perform a traceroute and send us the information.
Thanks again for writing Live365. Please let me know if I can offer you any further assistance.
Another suggestion if you are having issues listening with live365. Make sure you have the following services enabled in your browser:
Java Javascript Cookies Session Cookies
Problems installing the live365 player? Clear all your cookies, delete all your temp internet files, go into your windows folder and look for a folder called "downloaded programs" and delete everything there.
Now go through the live365 setup process and make sure you let it finish. It may take a while, especially on dial-up, but once it is setup it should work quicker the next time you load it.
I set this up on my brothers computer last night and it was a pain, but now he has a link on his desktop and it launches within 20 secs of clicking it.
Now go through the live365 setup process and make sure you let it finish. It may take a while, especially on dial-up, but once it is setup it should work quicker the next time you load it.
On my dialup (ATT Worldnet) I normally connect at between 49.3 and 52k (allegedly) and it takes just under 3 minutes from clicking on the link till I hear music (after waiting for the Live365 webpage to load, the 365 player to launch, and 90 gazillion cookies). And since my phone company, ATT, or both can't keep my bandwidth up nor my phone line clear I get dumped every so often (not live365s fault, but I also need to mention if I try to do anything else on line I get to rebuffer, like posting this post).
I know we are stuck with Live 365 for at least awhile(if not permanently)but I can't believe that they aren't hearing the same complaints from all their broadcasters and subscribers. Macfive, should we be e-mailing them directly with our complaints and concerns?

When I had my phone line installed for the computer, I was fortunate to have gone to school with the installer. He explained to me that my house was the last house on the "trunk" line that came through the neighborhood. He said, even though it may appear that I had a good connection, depending on how many people were using the lines at a time, I would have a drop off in connection. There were other unused trunk lines that passed my house, so he hooked me in to one. So, I am the only one on the line. I have had no problems with Live365 at all.
Point is, the problem most of you could be having, is caused by the congestion on your phone line. Even DSL can be bogged down because of it. The closer you are to your local control box, the better off you should be. You could ask your phone co. to put you on a new line but they may really rake you for that. Or, you could know someone in the phone co.
I may not agree but live365 server seems to be likely overloaded on GPRS connection highlanderradio is very unstable liveireland is okay (both are 24k) RTHK realaudio do not have much problem, but unable to connect winmedia and I hope Paul will use his own shoutcast server instead of live365 (it was good b4 outage due to copyright issue), of course, location is another factor (NY is not far from MA)
Just joined this group. I previously listened on the ShoutCast winamp stream. Today I checked traceroute to Live365 - all ok. The direct traceroute from my computer to www.celticradio.net was NOT ok. Outside my IP network the response was: #8 206.223.115.32 (bor01.va-ashburn0.ne.earthlink.net): TTL Exceeded in Transit, ttl=248, 200.7 ms #9 209.86.83.33 (bor01-ge-1-1.va-ashburn0.ne.earthlink.net): TTL Exceeded in Transit, ttl=247, 144.9 ms #10 209.86.82.29 (bor02-so-6-1.pa-philadel0.ne.earthlink.net): TTL Exceeded in Transit, ttl=246, 156.1 ms #11 209.86.83.29 (bor01-ge-1-1.pa-philadel0.ne.earthlink.net): TTL Exceeded in Transit, ttl=245, 105.7 ms #12 209.86.82.25 (bor02-so-6-1.ny-newyorkc0.ne.earthlink.net): TTL Exceeded in Transit, ttl=244, 325.5 ms #13 209.165.100.147 (cor02-v2.ny-newyorkc0.ne.earthlink.net): TTL Exceeded in Transit, ttl=243, 83.8 ms #14 209.165.100.195 (abd02-e3-0.ny-newyorkc0.ne.earthlink.net): TTL Exceeded in Transit, ttl=242, 140.5 ms #15 (): Request Timed Out, ttl=, ms #16 (): Request Timed Out, ttl=, ms
The main highlander radio feed is not available from Live365 but the celtichearts stream is - just do a search on celtic to find this. Seems like a problem in highlander radio's area. Hope this helps.
We blew another router. Not sure why, this is the second one in 5 months? We were down for about 5 - 6 hours today. We replaced it with a different brand this time, so we will see how long it lasts!
