Our official Court Jester has not been seen since Feb 10th. Where did he disappear to? (Also Annebelle is missing!)

Here maisky, maisky, maisky, nice kitty!! biggrin.gif

Annabelle was here as of 1:19 this afternoon, 26 Feb. As for Maisky, I don't know, has JaneyMae been around?

Hi Bill,

I saw Annabelle posting today on I think the Diana Gabaldon thread. Where is everyone?

I don't know where Maisky is sad.gif .

He didn't do anything wrong, so he isn't being punished by the moderators.

Maybe he's just busy with work...

Posted by: A Shrule Egan 26-Feb-2005, 06:53 PM
Maisky said he was looking into a few consulting jobs that may take him to Ireland. I think he would be very happy there doing trout fishing.

As for Annabelle, she was in Valley Forge at the Celtic Fest and when she got back home, her laptop fried and the other desktop was out for repairs. She has been trying to use the one at her shop but she doesn't get much time there. She should be up and running sometime this week.

I believe we have seen the last of Richard. He wasn't happy with the way things have gone around here lately and said he's pretty much given up on the place. Hopefully, he'll be feeling better by September and we can get him to join us in Bethlehem.

I have a feeling we're going to be seeing more and more of people drifting away and not coming back. sad.gif unsure.gif I do miss Richard.

It's lovely to be missed, thanks!

Life is so busy right now for me!

Looking into a new enterprise and different direction in life for me. So I'll be around but won't be top poster anymore, but thanks to many friends new and old to be missed is nice. And you guys can't get rid of me that easy anyway.

By the way my dear Brother Richard sends everyone his best! He is very busy with tribal things but Dr wants him to rest more and not so much activity. He is fine but over does it when he gets involved with tribal things sometimes.

Silly boy!

But he says hi to everyone and Happy St Patty's day early!

We already HAVE lost quite a bunch of especially "old" members, some of those who were there to build up this place, some from the early days of Celtic Radio.
Richard is one I will miss sorely, too, Irish Stepper. And I agree, I'm also afraid more will follow. unsure.gif sad.gif

Though, I miss my friends here and the laughs I had. I see a shrinking number of people on here. Sadly enough its the more interesting ones(no offense to anyone) that are leaving.
Maybe there should be an exit poll to discover the specifics of the exodus.

Hey all, don't think negative here. It is a busy time and we are all browsing the web. I know it was way more relaxed in attitude than it is now but there are reasons I guess. ITs GOOD to see familiar faces. I too miss Richard, and so many but may be they will return...

Urian,

Contrary to your assessment, there is hardly an exodus happening and if anything our servers are being loaded with people coming and going including our web broadcast. Everything is up up up! In fact, we had 95 new registrations in 1 week!! I spent 2 hours last night answering about 50 emails.

While the community forums are popular, the majority of our users simply browse the boards and do not post. Most people just listen to our broadcast and occasionally look at our frontpage.

There are many hidden members that have never posted on this site that both financially and morally support us.

I think people know my feelings that I run a tight but fair ship here. I would rather lose 50 members than to be politically correct. People have not been happy with some of the guidelines that have been enforced, but if we did not have guidelines than there would be no order to the messages and such.

Before you make such strong statements, you should really be in a position to have access to the stats and not judge the entire site on handful of vocal people that no longer frequent the site!

And for the record, there have been 955 messages in the past week. I don't know about you, but I don't think anyone could read that many messages in one week!

well I have been out for a few days - had to get over a cold and then I was very busy with my husband on the internet. It's good to hear form him so often but it's getting better now since he got the use of camera and microphone.

So after sometimes several hours on the internet I am just worn out from sitting on the computer.

So but now I am back and hopefully in full capacity. LOL

and you very well what and of whom I am speaking of, mac. I said the people that make things interesting meaning posters and yo know that.

Part of the reason why some of "us" have dropped of is because their seems to be a doubel standard in regards to certain things.
take mdf's comments earlier about women and gays and cowboy boots.
peckery made comments that were off colored and he was reprimanded.
If I had been the one to say what mdf said, I would have an email telling me my warning level had been increased...so...

there is a growing "distrubance" here and some fo the regualr memebers arent as active as they used to be..and there are reasons..if you'd ask

Posted by: A Shrule Egan 27-Feb-2005, 10:41 PM
Just read through this whole thread and Paul, I would say that you missed the point of why everyone got PO'd. The issue here wasn't a numbers game. In my opinion, it seems to have stemmed from a comment from MDF (Mike):

"I don't know where Maisky
is .

He didn't do anything wrong, so he isn't being punished by the
moderators."

Do we really need this from Mods? This is why Urian (Mike) is saying there are double standards. This isn't something new. We have complained about this since the early days. This is the real reason Peckery went after certain Mods that abused their position. He got canned because he stood up for those that wouldn't or were scared to protect themselves. Only a handful of folks on here know the truth.

Paul, if your going to make a public claim to be fair, then you need to include ALL Mods in that to. Fortunately, in my eyes, the current group, with a couple of exceptions, you have a solid and worthy staff.

I'll now step off the soapbox. NEXT!!

Posted by: Macfive 28-Feb-2005, 06:27 AM
I'm really not sure what all the flack here is about, if you are unhappy with the forum then move on.

Contrary to comments here we have over 1000 messages posted a week, I frankly do not see what your concern is about.

If you have an issue with the forum, contract me directly and I will address it. Creating negative comments and a sense of a mass exodus will certainly end up in a TOS violation.

If you have an issue with a moderator, contact me with a copy of the issue. Sometimes it seems that there are complaints, but when we look into the issues there is little substance to support those complaints.

I've been hitting Message Boards since the time when they were BBS's and accessed only by 300 bps modems.

There is a natural come-and-go to message boards. For some, just like in dating, the novelty wears off and the person moves on. For some the demands of work and family change over time leaving you with less online time. For some emotions and feelings get stepped on.

I do want to make a public acknowledgement to EVERYONE here that my visits here have all been pleasant and worthwhile. While some of those neo-Socialists tongue.gif on the Politics Online forum have raised my blood pressure on more than one occasion, I have enjoyed every post.

I, personally, have seen no bitterness or cat-fighting. I have had no issues with either moderators or posters. Moderator abuse of power is nothing new - I've seen it on almost every board I've visited. When I ran a message board I was harder on the Mods than I was on the regular posters, because it is the Mods that set the standard. Fortunately I haven't seen it here at CelticRadio.

MDF's comment earlier about women and gays and cowboy boots was a tempest in a teapot.

I've communicated with Brother Maisky via personal email in the recent past, and I know that job issues were taking up a great deal of his time. I sincerely hope, whether he returns here or not, that those job issues resolve and he can find himself employed with a decent salary. If his employment is in Ireland then I'll be green with envy.

I fully support Macfive's comment: "I would rather lose 50 members than to be politically correct."

And while I don't care about it being a TOS violation, "creating negative comments and a sense of a mass exodus" is certainly not anything anyone of us should be doing. Why would we want to scare new people off with our comments about gloom and doom? Shouldn't that be taken somewhere other than The Jester's Court, a place of merriment?

Again, just my 2¢. Your mileage may vary. Void where prohibited.

Posted by: jpmoore 28-Feb-2005, 11:02 AM
Ya' know, I am a member of only one other forum and the difference I find between it and celticradio.net is that the members here are simply pleasant, kind, caring, civil, courteous and generally seem to be nice folks.
The other board? Wow! One mistyped statement or off-hand expression of your two cents and pow! You get nailed to the wall! People there are flat out mean!!!!

So...

I am kind of surprised at the "grumbling" (my pardon if that description offends). Things here are pretty nice if you ask me.

Posted by: stevenpd 28-Feb-2005, 03:13 PM
Here's my 2¢ worth.

I have been one those that has been around for awhile with minimal participaition. I've been invlovled with BBS's and chat rooms ever since Prodigy was the premier ISP (a year or so before AOL was something to take notice of). Celtic Radio has been the one that I have hung my hat on, taken off my shoes and just enjoyed. Sometimes it's better to watch people, their interaction and the results.

This site has always been known as a decent place, sure there have been others who felt otherwise. Here, there have been some problems but I believe that they have been dealt with in a respectful manner to those invloved. One of the primary concerns that always has been in background but a guiding force was (and still is) the interaction of kids with the site. Mac wanted a family oriented place that promoted Celtic music, history, traditions and to a certain extent, values. Highlander Radio (as is was in the beginning) grew just for those reasons. A common comment has always been about the spirit of the Celtic Radio Family.

A good example of this is currently unfolding. A 15 year-old young man is going through a tough time right now. Questioning life and his place in it. He posts and participates in the site. He has recieved support and well wishes from this family. Is it appropriate to recieve the same garbage that he can get anywhere else, here? There have been others who have come to this surrogate family and have left. They come and they go. Such is life.

People grow, learn and move on. That is life. Maisky was very prolific here. I for one noticed his "disappearence" as well. Peckery is the another, Urian another, and there are others. Some leave without a trace and others return. Does this mean the end of Celtic Radio? I don't believe so, I look at it as the evolution of the site and nothing more. I have probably have irritated a few that I have had interaction with to one degree or another and they have irritated me in turn. Do I have to agree 100% percent with everyhing that is posted? I don't think so. Do I agree with eveything that is posted? No. We are all human beings (at least I think so) with our own experiences. I allow for that and don't get bent out of shape at posts.

Macfive is correct. As the creator of Celtic Radio and the final arbitor of all that goes on here. If you have a problem discuss it with him. Isn't that the point of the forums?

I'll get off my soap box now.

Posted by: Shadows 28-Feb-2005, 03:54 PM
Do you know how many PM's and emails Macfive gets in a day... if you did it would make your head swim... he eventually gets back to everyone... I have has stuff I sent to him wait 3 weeks before I get a reply... but it does come and often with an appology for the delay.

Mac has much to do to keep this place running, new software to evaluate, code to write to make things work better and then the emails and PM's to answer; not to mention the programing of new music ( that don't happen by it'self you know!
I think he is doing an extrardinary job at keeping it running... there are only 2 , count them 2, other people he lets help with all this and one is his wife! All this and he has a family too!

The Guides are here to help him keep tabs on things in the very diverse and interesting forums... if it were just him you might not have many options on topics.

So be patient he will answer; you are not being ignored!

I tend to agree with some of the others here. I've seen a huge turnover in this site since I joined, but actually I don't see it as being as complete as some other places I've seen. To be sure, I've not spent time on a lot of other forums. However, I've never been in any group that held together in its original form like this. The largest online group I've been in like this has been my Everquest guilds, and in there, there were only 4-5 who were actually veterans of the guild in many cases. This out of a group of up to a couple hundred characters. Things change. People come and people go. CRN is nothing like it was when I joined. Of those who helped introduce me to the CelticRadio forums, Annabelle is the only one I still see around much.

Just because people are leaving doesn't mean the site is dieing. People come too. I remember twice having the feeling everyone was leaving. And both times, I've noticed a wave of new faces once the dust settled. The listener graphs are showing increased traffic, and I can hope that as those numbers grow, more people will discover this wonderful community that is present behind the music.

It is said the only constant in the universe is change. The site changing does not mean it is dieing. I feel sad seeing people leave too. But even I have been known to leave the site for a couple months before. Most forums I might sign up with I have a tendancy to forget about after a week. This one I didn't. Got to stand for something.

Keep the faith smile.gif

Hey People!!!!! mad.gif

Sorry about the yelling.

As the apparent opener of this can of worms, I want to throw my two cents in. All I intended to do with this thread was, in what I thought was a comical way, ask if anybody had seen Maisky (and Annabelle). Obviously that was a mistake. There are still some wounds left raw from some past issues that we all need to get by if this is going to be a fun place for all. As with any group of people there are going to be those you like, those you couldn't care less about, and those whom you hate their guts, but if you're going to be in a group you've got to live with them all. Macfive and the moderators are all doing their best and we all have to give them the benefit of the doubt (I know Macfive isn't getting rich doing this and the moderators are all volunteers). If you have a problem with things then a PM to Macfive or the moderator of a forum (please be courteous) is the place to start. I know on the one issue that seems to be grating on a number of us Macfive heard from me on more than one occasion (and I think he may have got tired of me after awhile) and we had to agree to disagree (all our communications were of a courteous and civil manner). There is nothing we do on this website worth getting an ulcer over.

End of MacE's two cents.

Well I just want to say a big thankyou for the kind comments in this thread!!

You know, everything in my forum moderator guidebook 101 says I should delete this thread because the last thing members want to be part of is a declining forum community. But it is just such a foolish statement to make that I have to let it be!!!

What struck me was the fact that certain members are judging the success of this forum on the fact that some vocal members are no longer here. People have lives and people move from community to community. It almost is freaky because it immitates life this online internet!

We get a constant influx of new people and old people alike. Not everyone will be happy with the guidelines, but so far these guidelines have worked very well. We are not going to allow insults and negative posts to prevail and we are certainly not going to allow bullys to run rampent. Yes, this is a family oriented site and we will try our best to accomodate and make everyone feel as welcomed as possible.

In the end I whole heartedly believe that there is good in us all and while I have been known to slap around the warnings, it is more of a fudiciary responsibility that I share with the moderators for the best interest of CelticRadio.net. I don't want people to take taps on the shoulders personal, we are just trying to create a little structure and organization so just sit back and enjoy the site and interaction with people.

I really enjoy running this site and to be honest with you it does not matter if there were 50 people, 500 people or 5000 people - I would still keep building it because it is something I love to do. We all get stuck in jobs, careers and roles that we don't want to be in - well, perhaps for little while we can listen to the music and get wrapped up in something other than the 4 walls surrounding our cubes or residences!

Thanks again for everyone turning a negative into a positive! thumbs_up.gif biggrin.gif

OOOOOOOooooooooooo (she rubs her hands together and grins) This has been such an interesting thread to read this morning -- instead of working. Almost has gotten to the point of the "ModTroll" thread of old. We whined and complained about the "Mod Squad," The "Mod Trolls," "The Mod Meanies," etc. No one lost their heads over it. I too miss my big brother on here but then I miss myself. I believe we should be able to speak out on the correct forums. I thought we were allowed to do that here. Maybe not? CR is a grand place but I too have had my feelers bent but eventually come limping back. Mac has always seemed fair, especially when he didn't order those of us making fun of the moderators to have our heads removed. I agree with both sides of the issue here. hmmmm... Maybe being an old blonde broad has its disadvantages after all.

I just would like to add a little bit to this post,
I am relatively new here and have found that I really like it here. Several members have helped me with problems that I have had and when I couldn't log on to the site I was able to let MacFive know in another manner and he let me know when everything was fixed.
When I asked for the password, so that I could post in these forums, he politely gave it to me and gently teased me about my age, making sure that I was over 18 (I am 2x that), I hae not met anyone here I did not like from the first time to now. I am no old crown ( lol.gif) poster on this board, but one day, I hope to achieve the levels of some of the others.
I have truly found a place that I like to frequent and even if I don't post every day, I always come and read.

Thanks, Mac and Mace and all who have made me feel welcome and part of a greater community.

Yes, the site is evolving. It's evolving into Wall-Mart. Seems everyone is too busy watching the numbers go up to notice the foundation faltering. Is the site going to dissapear? No. Not likely. But it's not going to be what it used to be, that's for sure. It already isn't.

I guess I'm still somewhat of a newbie here - been here less than a year. But I'm not sure that I understand exactly what the older members are talking about. How is the site different now than it was in "the old days"? Sure some of the older faces are missing, and I assume that most of that was over the Peckery issue. But I'm not sure what you mean by comments like the above. Please understand that I am not trying to stir up trouble. I just feel like mushroom here... You say it is different... HOW is it different... please enlighten me...

You know, I really love this place. It's the only real forum I've ever been involved with. The chat room here is still the only chat room I've ever been in. When I get on the internet, CR is the last place I visit - and that is a GOOD thing! smile.gif I check my e-mail first, then I try to get through all of the other sites I check in on (maybe 2 or 3 at most) so that I can get all of that other junk out of the way. Then I can settle in on CR for the rest of the evening and chat with with all of you, my friends. I can share my friends' lives here... I laugh with you, I cry with you, I get angry with you, and I hope and dream for you. I really do love this place, and not for the music. You know before I got my new computer, I couldn't even listen to the music! My computer was so old, it couldn't support the music. I would lose my internet connection jsut about everytime I tried. so pretty much the ONLY reason that I came here was for the people. YOU guys. You make CR for me. Without you it'd be no better than any other site.

So when I read about all of the dissention and unrest here, it really disturbs me. It makes me wonder what I've missed. What has happened that so many of you feel differently about the place? Each and every time someone makes the decision not to come back, I feel like I've lost a friend. I know that's kinda simple and perhpas a little naive of me, but its the truth. Can't we just get along and lay all of the sore feelings to rest once and for all?

Wiz: sometimes it is a good friend who leaves. I know I'm bad for not keeping in touch too. But more often than not, people leave on good terms. Whatever happens, life goes on smile.gif Hope the best, remember, and if you can, keep in touch.

IS: I agree. The overall color scheme is nice, but smiley needs to go. If I recall correctly, between 8 vehicles owned by my parents, myself, my sister and her husband, and a couple of my friends, only 2 of them have the stock plate. Every one of the others has a different plate on it. No two the same.

There is no dissention and there is no unrest. I really feel like a handful of people are spreading this around and it simply is not true.

We have so many wonderful people here on the forum that sometimes an outspoken voice or two will overshadow all of the good. So sit back and enjoy the site. Members come and members - it really is a natural flow of people and it resembles real life....do we all go to the same exact store every weekend or see the same movie?

And as far as musicians coming on to the site, we have occasional musicians that pass by, but remember, musicians are very busy people. Heck, it sometimes takes me 3 months to get an email reply. We have had offers for musicians to engage in chat and such; but I just do not feel ready for that yet.

We also have not even started to promote this site. Up until now CelticRadio.net is pretty much word of mouth and search engine driven. Once I get some PR materials together on CR and the "STORY" of CR I am certain that I can get in some local newspapers like the Boston Globe or the Herald and thats just the start......but not yet, I am still developing the site!

I can't speak for BluegrassLady or Haldur, but you're not going to offend me with it unless you start thinking I designed it personally. I want to repeat myself in saying "Death to Smiley". But I think a large portion of this state would agree with you rather than be offended.

It's bad isn't it wink.gif Whatever those folks in Frankfort were smoking a couple years ago, I don't wanna know. Just hope they can redeem themselves of this atrocity next time they change the plate.

I think I've said my peace and should duct tape my mouth shut to just reading this thread for a while, and stop posting in it long enough for Haldur and BluegrassLady to get a word in edgewise smile.gif

Here's my take on the Kentucky license plate/travesty of matter.

In my opinion, being a Kentuckian myself, the Kentucky license plate is a disgrace to all living organisms and to art itself. I refer to it as "The Teletubby Mess" and "The Metallic Sheet of Escrement Upon my Automobile".

Yes, you heard me correctly...I have one. I know...hiss all you want, but I have the disgusting little thing on the back of my '93 Nissan Sentra. Could I BE any more of a dork. Probably not. Here's why.

1) I have to crawl out of the passenger's side door because my driver's side door is locked shut. During the first ice storm this winter, my driver's side door froze shut and petered out. I hear ya...make all the "Dukes of Hazzard" jokes you want.

2) My heater did not work for the longest time, well up into the middle of January in fact. My car is slowly falling apart. Nice to hear, isn't it? smile.gif

3) In case you haven't noticed yet, I'm being a bit smart-elic tonight...but hey, it's funny! Laugh, I say! smile.gif

4) The Kentucky license plate sucks! I could design a much better one that would at least bring an end to all the projectile vomiting that out-of-staters get when they lay their innocent eyes on such filth.

5) Most folks would be laughing by now. Go ahead. Let the milk squirt out your nose if need be. It helps.

So there you have it! Oh, almost forgot...I'm gonna design what I think the Kentucky license plate should be from here on out, see what you guys think! It'll probably either go here or in the Art Work thread in Celtic Hearts, don't know yet.

wink.gif Toodles.

I was going to just sit back and take in this thread but I'm feeling so lonely on the outside.

When I first found this site almost two years ago, there was a whole different crew of people here. Most of the people who are being looked at as 'veterans', haven't been here much longer than myself. A large part of members who were posting when I arrived, don't seem to be around as much now. Why??? Only those people can answer. All that I know is that I have found a community which I enjoy. In any community there are going to be a huge number of personalities. Some rules inevitably have to be created so that the largest percentage can enjoy the community and feel welcome. There will ultimately be some grumbling but for the mostpart, I think that the few rules that are in place here are not to infringe on freedom of speech, but to make sure that things don't go too far in alienating a number of people. Paul has built the structure of this community and we have all made it home. When we no longer enjoy our surroundings, instead of trying to take down the community, it is better to move on.

Ya know, this thread was started because my big brother hasn't been on in awhile. Then things kind of got out of hand, as they did one other time in the year and 3 months that I have been a member. Several have been driven away during that time, including myself, but a few have come back. I have no idea what the "peckery incident" is. Maggie, you know that when I call you a "Mod Troll" it is with the deepest affection tongue.gif During the time of that "Mod Squad" thread we were trying to lighten things up. Just as we need to here. People come and people go. There are threads which I avoid because I don't want my feelers bent...I prefer to keep it light. So, couldn't our CR family please, PLEASE move on? Especially if Mac is buying!!!! That means the DRINKS ARE ON THE HOUSE!!! SET 'EM UP BABY!!!!!!

And, yes, the Kentucky lisence play is quite silly jester.gif

Posted by: oldraven 02-Mar-2005, 09:07 AM
Well, those stories aren't mine to tell. As much as I enjoy coming to this site, and the people here that have become my friends, and yes, that's the majority, I feel less and less like reading through. Mac, the last thing I want to do is cast a shadow, but I won't pretend everything is hunkey dorey. There are double standards with the rules. That's a bit of a piss off, and has cost me a lot of my favorite posters. The mob mentality gets old pretty quick, too. 'You cross me, you cross my homies' rolleyes.gif

But the biggest change to the site is I'm seeing an overwhelming amount of fluff. Topics that make me feel a little stupider every time I read them. There's been a decline in the quality of conversation here, and I don't think anyone can deny that. Of course, this is something that can be remedied. Getting those quizes out of the general forum helped a bit. They are as meaningful as the flash game section. (yet I still find myself checking them out once in a while). It seems the only decent threads are found in the politics forum. I mean, come on. Word association? 4 word stories? These are time killers, not conversation. And would someone please lose the post counter. That's seems to be everyone's focus these days, and probably has more to do with the amount of fluff than anything else.

All that said, I do still have celticradio as my home page, on both my work pc and at home. I won't give up on it, as I don't think things have gotten to that. I do still count the people here as friends. Enemies are useless on the internet. If I don't have them in real life, why would I want them here? I also never understood the point of leaving a site. It only punishes yourself.

I will take that beer, and offer one in return. beer_mug.gif king.gif

I would not take any offense at being called a Mod Troll, because I don't think anyone here says it to be insulting. There A LOT of people here that don't go on any other forums, so they don't know any better. I don't get onto other forums, either. But it seems here its almost used as a term of endearment.

Similar. I don't see it as exactly the same. The way I see it, on other forums, it is a bad thing. But perhaps common enough to become trite. Kindof like how some women get to even calling themselves a B****, and taking as a complement when others call them that, at least in the right context. Normally, it's seen as negative. But sometimes it takes on a different meaning. Almost mocking the negative connotation.

Another example, is when it's a good thing to be 'Bad' ("You know it, I'm bad..." note.gif )

Same type of thing. On other forums, being called a mod troll might be a bad thing. Here, it's a different context, and a different story.

Ohh, I just re-read your last line. Yeah, it is a bit of an oxymoron isn't it smile.gif Still, it's all the context smile.gif

All I gotta say is that this site is worth far more than any monetary amount to me. That should say something about the majority of the folks on here. wink.gif Granted, I've been guilty of "straying away" from the fold due to my loss of internet access and I probably haven't gotten to know everyone. If you wanna get some really strange looks, try ordering a Foster's. It's a very good beer, but very few bars have it beer_mug.gif .

I have never had it. Is it a dark or a light or medium beer? I don't drink much anymore but I have always liked dark beers like Petes Wicked Ale.. I cant say that as I drank keystone light...Oh face it I like any beer and I have to pour it in a glass or frozen mug and add salt. Does anyone else do this?? Or is it just wierd...thats how my Dad taught me how to drink it.

Foster's is a medium beer from Australia. It has a creamy taste to it.

I am fairly new to this site or any other for that matter. I read through this whole thread this morning in hopes of gaining more understanding. I must admit there is part of me that wants to know the deep, dark side of human nature that causes me to interact (sometimes negatively) with complete strangers while wanting to be perceived as an open-minded, pleasant, easy-going, loving, caring individual. I have not contributed much to the general uplifting nature of CR and I apologize for that. I hope through continued contact, I can absorb some of your very positive attributes. I tend to be rather opinionated, stubborn and strong willed...and those are my good attributes. I am sure your gentle prodding can knock some of the sharp corners off this old curmudgeon. The ability to interact even if only passively is helping me through a tough time and I thank all of you for that! fireman2.gif

Oh my! ohmy.gif I am just now reading this and felt a lot of sadness when I finished. I am sorry but I had to add my 2 cents. I haven't been involved much all last week cause my computer was down.......my monitor went out. I almost had to be hospitalized for neurosis as a result! laugh.gif So I am slowly getting back to catching up on all my emails and posts here and there. I confess that I am a member of several forums and there are some days I just can't get to them all, but my favorite is and always has been Celtic Radio. I will admit that I have seen some changes too.........even been part of them myself, but that happens with all sites. People come and go, things happen........it is part of life! All in all this is my very favorite site and I try to come in here every day if I can. I think that MacFive has done an excellent job and he makes the decisions he does for what he feels best...........it is HIS site and is paying the money and doing all the work, what is wrong with a little order and following guidelines? Those that don't like them and want no part of them can go elsewhere as far as I am concerned. One of the things I appreciate about this site is there is NO bashing of other sites! I have been on sites where people were just down right nasty and ugly to one another, patronizing you cause maybe you weren't as smart as they think they are. I could go on........ I have had my share of many forums in the past several years and this is by far the best, thanks to MacFive! I get on here to have a good time and make friends and learn many things that I would not have otherwise. Thank you Paul and to all the MODs who have worked tirelessly to make this a great site. Now let's all let the past be the past and have those beers! My turn to buy! beer_mug.gif beer_mug.gif beer_mug.gif

Now! Maisky! You wrote me once telling me you were really busy with work. I am nosy. I want more details as to what's all going on with you, my friend.

Rindy! I love a cold beer in a frosty mug too, but never had it with salt on it. I especially love dark beers with Killians and Dos Equix being my faves!

BTW! Thanks to all of you who PM'd me this week wondering where I was when my computer was down. Nice to know people care. smile.gif

No Stevenpd! I have not tried it and always see it at the Chinese restaurant we frequent. I always wondered about it. Thanks for the desciption. I may try it one day.

How does Foster's taste? I always wondered about that.

Shadows! That is a lot of money for a case of beer! Holy Cow! Never had either kind of those beers. I was always a Miller's Lite gal..........always watching those calories and carbs you see.... cool.gif But my faves are dark beer, not quite Guinness, but I do like the darker ales.

Posted by: Shadows 07-Mar-2005, 12:48 PM
If you like Ale try "Lord Chesterfield" it is a little darker then most pale ales but very good... it is brewed by Yingling oldest brewer in America!

Thanks Shadows. I will look for that in the grocery store this week! wink.gif beer_mug.gif

I'd say this is only marginally off topic. tongue.gif

If you want a good darker ale, try Newcastle Brown Ale. It's fairly cheap, at $12.95 a six pack, (about $10.50 US), and easy to get your hands on. Very popular English beer, I'd say, and for good reason. It's a hell of a lot better than Bass, I can say that much.

So, Ms. Rindy wandered off to the carefully engineered trap set by the fiendish villian, Shadows, and has not been seen again. What is the fate of our beautiful maiden? Will the brave hero (whoever HE is) arrive in time to rescue her? Will the alligators (where did THEY come from?) get there fill of her? Is their any point to this story AT ALL? Tune in tomorrow for further Adventures of Rindy!!!

I am doing well, thank you, dear ladies. I have been busy with many pursuits, including a new addiction: Runescape. If you ever venture that way, look for lechere or sabrelechere. rolleyes.gif

Dear Jester,

Our girls play that game! laugh.gif Their friends introduced them to it, and they were hooked in five minutes flat. I like the fact that there are many things to do other than go fight something and watch the blood go flying -- too many games like that out there! I'm glad to see good folks on the game who are willing to help newcomers, and also members who seem to go out of their way to make things easier for lower-levels to accomplish their quests. It's a very well-run game.

I'll tell them to watch for you, if you won't mind. Enjoy!

Wow, I didn't know other CR members played Runescape.

My name is kiltedscot and feel free to add me to your list. I have added those names I found here.

My son is starting a Runescape forum in the special interest group to discuss all of the secrets of the game, etc. He should be starting it this week.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Runescape. Perhaps we can meet at the pub - drinks on me!

Posted by: bigjimhainey 11-Jul-2005, 10:36 PM
I havent actually played that game yet, although my son is addicted to it. Him and his friends get on there and play and talk on the phone about the game. I dont have time to get addicted to that game ( already addicted to about 4 others ) but since so many on here are playing i just may have to try it out.

I have 2 rs accounts, lechere and sabrelechere. Me, an ADDICT? unsure.gif
