So I was really surprised to hear no celtic music in any of the LOTR movies. I figured that with all of the obvious celtic symbolism and myth that went into the original books, one would include some reference to the music. Thus far, the only hint of it I can find are when Aaragorn and Merry sing solo laments at different spots in Return of the King.

Any Thoughts?

Cheers

Isn't the music that goes along with Hobbiton slightly Celtic? Though I can't remember. I've only got ROTK.

The "party" music in the Fellowship was most definitely Celtic -- but since Howard Shore did not compose it, the music did not make it to the soundtrack album. sad.gif There are some credits on the DVD. Perhaps someone on the forum knows more...?

Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow
Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

I ordered ROTK soundtrack on Amazon. It has been on back order! I am sooooo anxious to get it! I loved all the music in all three films but would have liked to have seen more Celtic sounding music. However, the closest I came to hearing it was the Elvish laments. So beautiful. walkman.gif
