My pic can be viewed with my profile...

In case you were wondering, it's the best recent picture I could find of myself. It is the photo from my State of Illinois ID card (I have one of those in case I'm driving on a ticket and get carded at the liquor store when I want to do this---> beer.gif ).

If you saw my pic, you would've seen that I got a lot of snow on the mountain, and I'm only 29! I've been graying since I was 15 though. My mom has been trying for years to get me to color my hair. I have to keep telling her that I've never very vain. One of my cousins and I used to joke that our scalps were older than the rest of us. He started going bald in high school.

My reading habits changed a lot when I moved down here. Hard to find books in English and the places that sell them sell them at a premium price. One time when I was determined to come back out here in the interior from Panama City with something to read I looked and looked and finally decided I just did not want to spend $20.00 on a book I would be able to read maybe three or four times and then be bored stiff with it. I went to the textbook section and bought some math books and engineering books and brought those out. I discovered that I get as much out of working out a couple of problems in an evening as I ever got out of reading words on a page, wierd huh? Now sometimes I will be working on something in the evening, get stumped then decide to go to bed only to have to get up at three in the morning to start jotting down the answer that had just occurred to me.

Anybody else dream in sines and cosines and stuff like that?

Yup. We were just married August 2nd. inlove.gif Then, we road tripped to the Oregon Coast from Missouri. It's a looooong drive through Wyoming and Nebraska.
I thought he scanned more wedding pics than the wedding party. oh well, the bridesmaids were cute, too.
I made the dress myself. biggrin.gif

Nice road trip too, eh? I agree, I-80 through Nebraska can be 500 miles of udder boredom......cows, get it?

I used to make that trip a couple times a year from my farm in Wisconsin to my folks house in Central California.

Nice job on the weddin' dress, too, maryellen, yer a gal of many talents.

Annabelle-You've got all those power tools and no camera? I guess I shouldn't talk though, my pics not on here either!
Maryellen-beautiful pics! Beautiful job on the dress too. I made mine years ago, and I KNOW how hard it is sewing all that slippery, slidey satin, lace, and beaded stuff.

Nice wedding pictures Maryellen!

I followed the link back to the main page of your pics and saw a link called Honeymoon... thought hummm!!! Would she be so brave? Nah! just pictures of landscape and feet hanging out of the car window! LOL!!!!!! rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif wink.gif

All things good mellow with age, we should too!!!

I resurected this from my many emails to my minister mother ( Father/Mom )!
It was sent to her when a friend died and she complained about age being a curse:

Old age is not golden, it is brass and it turns green....

..... we all get older and our bodies wear out. Green is the sign of
mellowing and showing a patina... we look for this in our precious
possetions, so why not in our older folks. If you believe in what you
profess to believe, dying is the next step to the Creater. Do not be sorry
for your losses, but happy for the gain of those that go before the Creater.
Prayer can do wonders, but is it in selflessness or selfishness that makes
us pray? What weighs the most?

I know I will here much in reply to this ! wink.gif

Just remember fine wines, fine furniture, and fine old oil paintings all mellow with age... I am too, I hope you are also! smile.gif

Well in an effort to move out of the peasant ranking, this is my 24th post. I have posted my picture as well. Brief explanation. The picture was taken on an overlook near the Tahquamenon Falls in Michigan's upper peninsula. I was up there last year doing a winter campout with some friends. The picture was taken around 1:00 in the afternoon and the temperature was still at -5 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. At night it dropped down to -28 below zero. In two weeks we will be returning for another fun-filled weekend camping trip in the snow.

Well the only problem with flocking is, I haven't found to many women who want to spend a weekend in a tent in the middle of winter. Though it would be fun trying to stay warm naughty.gif.

Last year there was four feet of snow on the ground and snowshoes and skiis were our main way of getting around. Woke up to a fresh powder of snow on everything and you could see your breath. Incredible!!!! Hope to someday find a lady who is willing to vacation with me someplace off the beaten trail.

As for my picture. That was taken after a 6 hour ride around the reservoirs north of Ellenville, N.Y. That Sam Adams tasted REAL good after that.

In fact CR, it's about 55 degree's F and very wet and rainy. Every place I've gone today which I had to go into the office this morning, people have complained about the weather. I just laugh and tell them I't actually quiet a lovely day. When they look at me as if I've lost my ever living mind. I tell them in my Scottish Brouge "It's lovely Scottish Weather dear". They usually smile. They are sitting there thinking " she's lost it". But it gets a smile from someone who had a frown before. So it can't be a totally bad thing. Can it?

Yes, Asheville to Atlanta is beautiful only til you get close to Atlanta and then it's bumper to bumper for the next hours now. Bummer. I get off at Athens where you go to UGA and cut thru on back roads. Much faster.

About two years ago I put in for a transfer to Kodiak Island in Alaska. I was ready to go. Unfortunately the job was giving to someone from Ohio.

It was a balmy -5 degrees when I woke up this morning, so I spent the day (10 hours) out hiking in it. Lotsa snow, temperature reached 13 degrees even fed a few birds from my hand on one trail. All in all a very nice day.

Hey Aon! I was out having dinner with friends tonight and he is going to give me his Photo Shop 4 program! Not the latest, I know but at least a start for me, you think? dribble.gif

Than CR, would you teach me how to post pictures? I have a digital camera and I know I have a hook up to down load onto computer. Just need someone to teach me how to take out of computer and put into here.

Annabelle! I don't know how to do it from a digital camera as I don't have one! Sorry! Othewise, I would be so happy to help you if I could. Maybe somebody else here to can tell you how to do so from a digital camera though. I only know how to do it the old fashioned way! sad.gif

Me and a friend.

To post you need to have the pic in a .jpg format either posted on a website or on your computer. go to "My Controls" and in the options box on the left you'll find a Update Personal Photo line. Click that and you'll see that you can either put the url of a posted photo or browse option from your computer.

To get a photo from the camera to your computer, hmm, you should have a usb or similar cable that came with the camera, or, some kind of removable memory card of some kind.

If you have the cable, if lucky you can plug it into the camera and then the computer. Turn the Camera on. Go to "My Computer" or MS Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and see if the camera shows up as disk drive. If it does you ought to be able to open the folders and files and then copy one or more of them to another folder on the computer.

If your camera uses removable memory(some Sony's use a regular floopy) most others use a removable card, with luck your computer has a built-in reader for that kind of card. If it does put the card in (carefully some you can force upside down with only a little effort) then it shows as a drive on your computer. If it doesn't have a built-in reader, you need a reader for that kind of memory. You can get a Compact Flash or similar memory card reader at most computer stores for $10-20 depending on the number of kinds of cards it can read. Some read one or two and some up to eight. Install the reader to a USB socket and follow the directions for loading it's drivers. Then you can use that reader the same as a "floppy" drive using the memory card as the disk.

Kassia! Loved your photo of you and The friend! laugh.gif What a beautiful woman you are!

Thank you so much for the information to help Annabelle. Hopefully she will see this. In the meantime, I am printing it for future reference when I get a digital camera! Thank you so very much! wink.gif smile.gif

I do not have a digital camera, so what I did was to take a picture into Wal-Mart and had a picture of mine scanned and put on a disc. It was very easy and not that expensive.

Posted by: Annabelle 26-Jan-2004, 07:59 AM
Well that certainly is a problem solver. How easy. As inexpensive as Walmart is, I hate Walmart now. They are blood suckers in each community. They come in develope a building and office spaces all around them then they rent those out to pay their own rent so they virtually don't have to pay rent on their own stores and then once they get a hold of a community their prices go up or their service attitudes go down. Yuck.

Kassia I'll try following your directions. I'm not very good with stuff like this but if some strange pictures come in here then you know I'm trying.
Thanks again for taking the time to explain this to me.

Dreamer Girl you did great! I love how thick your hair is. Wish mine were thicker. Mine's long and red but not as thick....maybe I should get some Rogaine?
People tell me they want my hair but I don't think they know their eye's need checking again....
Great picture! You are so pretty!

Richard, I cropped her off deliberately. I thought she should have a say in whether to post her picture or not. She's still pretty young, too! Give her time!

Got him by the coat tails.

Hope the directions work, my better half, dictated them to me. He may have skipped a step or two.

Make it $75 or I send him back.

Dreamer, I'm scared I'd break the system here if I down load my picture. I just got back from having pictures taken at Sears with my best friend for her 40th birthday. We did a fun day. I took her to a New Orleans Cajun food place for lunch and then we went to sears and had pictures taken. They even took one of me with my hands around her neck and making faces. It was so funny. And what was funnier was we ordered a 10 X 13 of it for the salon and it really turned out to be one of the better pictures. Should be good for a few laughs.

Kassia, Please don't send him back, the check is in the mail.
Funny girl!

Rosemary, the bike is a 92 Harley FXR Convertible in fire engine red. My friends like to say it's actually chrome with some red trim. You do need to wear sunglasses around it on sunny days. cool.gif biggrin.gif

I hate pictures of myself. I've always been a TomBoy and never cared what I looked like. I'm just the all-American girl next door. Give me a pair of boots and jeans and old t-shirt and I"m happy.
