I can't believe it but I am just now seeing this thread.
MacEoghainn how funny!! The looks on these peoples faces are really something. Then they walk away from the ladder don't they know he could fall!!!
I think that's very good advice TheCarolinaScotsman. Well not with your legs crossed. Seems I might get in some trouble for saying that. I love the song The Scotsman as well. I think it's amazing how your fold the kilt and get in it.
Welcome back gtrplr what a wonderful story. I hope that your reunited with this man someday and you have the chance to buy the kilt again.
I often wear the kilt, at the annual Rabbie Burns supper, to perform Celtic music, and at festivals, such as the Colorado Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highland Games this past weekend:
And by the way, that song about the blue ribbon is called "The Scotsman." Our band sings it quite often, much to the amusement of our audiences. Here's a version I found on YouTube.

I am a stag: of seven tines, I am a flood: across a plain, I am a wind: on a deep lake, I am a tear: the Sun lets fall, I am a hawk: above the cliff, I am a thorn: beneath the nail, I am a wonder: among flowers, I am a wizard: who but I Sets the cool head aflame with smoke?
I am a spear: that roars for blood, I am a salmon: in a pool, I am a lure: from paradise, I am a hill: where poets walk, I am a boar: ruthless and red, I am a breaker: threatening doom, I am a tide: that drags to death, I am an infant: who but I Peeps from the unhewn dolmen, arch?
I am the womb: of every holt, I am the blaze: on every hill, I am the queen: of every hive, I am the shield: for every head, I am the tomb: of every hope.
