Additional information about the awards:

Our three step review process started with over 200 nominations. All nominated songs were reviewed with about 8-12 songs (for each category) making it through the first round of our award process.

The tough part was then choosing only 3 songs for each of our music categories (2nd part of the review process). Lots of debate occurred with a few of the songs, some songs were moved around the different categories and finally after a long tedious review process the judges agreed to the final nominations. The final review process and selection of the award winners is then done by the Celtic Radio community through our special music award voting system.

The Celtic Radio Music Award is a program sponsored by Highlander Radio to acknowledge and promote exceptional Celtic music across 6 categories of music. There will be 1 Celtic Music Video elected as Video of the Year from VideoCelt.com.

Nominations for this award are made throughout the year by listeners and members of Celtic Radio. After a careful screening process, which is based upon listener nominations, ratings, requests, and other radio statistics; we select 3 songs in 6 categories for community voting. Categories for an award are Celtic Rock, Traditional, Jigs & Reels, Bagpipes, Contemporary and Roots Traditional.

Voting begins on January 1st of each year and ends on March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day). Winners receive recognition of this prestigious award through the induction into the Celtic Radio Hall of Fame and permission to use the Celtic Radio Music Award banner on their website.

In addition, one album is selected for the 2010 Album of Year award which includes a letter and plaque to the award winner.

We have updated our voting both for the Celtic Radio Music awards to show how you voted in the awards.

When you bring up the list of nominations, your vote will be highlighted with a check mark. You can then make any changes to your vote if you decide to change your vote at all.

After March 17th your vote becomes permanent and you can not change it!

We just wanted to post some information on our Celtic Radio Music Awards. So far this year it has been an unbelievable response with nearly 2,000 votes!

Whenever something gets really popular (Like out Music Awards) there are always questions about how these things work.

Please know that our community voting program has been 3 years in the making. We have in place certain checks and verifications to insure that voting is authenticated. In addition, our program checks for patterns through analytics in the voting based on IP addresses and locations to insure a safe and secure vote takes place.

Our album of the year award is not a community vote, but is chosen by Celtic Radio to acknowledge exceptional Celtic Music and Creativity. We actually have a few volunteer musicians that help us ultimately decide on this award. The purpose of our album of the year award is to provide acknowledgement and to raise awareness of a group's accomplishment.

All voting and all awards are given based on musical excellence and talent. There is no influencing our judges or members unless you have musical talent and a hot new CD that you are playing at gigs!
