Okay there are 300+ members of this message board and I expect to see 300+ votes on this poll! Tell me what you think ... if we had a Highlander Radio Forum Gathering, would you attend? Please feel free to post your comments, questions, and suggestions here too - now is your chance to let your voices be heard.

I hate to think that this group of people may not exist in the coming months...

In my case would probably really depend on the where as at least right now can't go to far because of house sale and have to be here to let folks view home. So really depends on the where.

Scottish2,

The time and place have not even been discussed as of yet. Just looking to see if there is any interest at all in this idea.

Would you consider if it was held say within a 3 or 4 hour drive of your place?

I think this is an excellent idea! Only problem is that I am almost out of vacation time for the year!  :(

Where exactly were you thinking on having it? I know one of this years, either this or next I am planning on going to either the grandfather mountain games or the stone mt. Highland Games.

Get's rather difficult for us traveling more than a day or so, since we have 4 dogs, an amazon parrot, a ferret, bunny rabbit and 2 little bird - but I am open to suggestions!

Paul,

Something of this magnitude (300+ members plus families and livestock) is going to require a considerable mount  of preparation - it will take a maybe year to get everything arranged.

We can't decide to have this unless there is enough interest in this idea to actually make it worth while. We will decide where and when once it has been demonstrated that there is an interest. I am hoping that you will have some suggestions regarding this aspect.

That's a great idea. The great celtic gathering of 03. It could be the  next woodstock. Days of great music and frienship; and no one screaming shut that bagpiper up.
It would take a while to get ready for, and praying for a profit sharing check.

HI

Well partly in reply to Paul's message teh Stone Mountain games is probably close enough for me and hopefully by that time we won't have a house to worry about just depends on time of year I always seem to forget when they hold their games. But one thing bare in mind for international travelers is Atlanta Ga. is an international airport and right near stone mountain so might be a good alternative being the member might won't have to travel far once there.  ;)

Sometimes I have a tendency to think in quite simplistic terms. Throw a little seasoning on, a few cloves of garlic - some olive oil and your all set!

Yes, your right this thing would take plenty of planning.

Paul, I was thinking of your livestock when I said that - will you be bringing your menagerie with you to the party? That might make it difficult to book a room for you...

For an idea of the size party I am thinking about go to this link on my website: USA Parties and click on the button that says "Really BIG Parties"

We will need to book a block of rooms at a hotel that has banquet facilities. I like Dave's idea of having it near a major airport - that will make it much easier for out of town guests to get here! There are a lot of talented members in our group - dancers, pipers, musicians and poets, even a stage hypnotist who does shows! I dont think we will have a lack of entertainment for the weekend (or perhaps a whole week??) - but I can call on several more acts from Scotland if we want to do that too.

If you go to my website, click on the list of International Performers, and you will see that I have a man with great Psychic ability listed, then a pair who call themselves Magicians in Black, and even a Ghost from Inverness! The Hypnotist I have listed is actually a  member of this forum, he reads, but rarely posts!

This will give you an idea of where the Airport is in Atlanta compared to Stone Mountain Park.

As for the games it looks like they take place in mid October at the part which is actually nice time of year not to hot not to cold yet.

http://www.smhg.org/

This should at least give you some ideas on this area.

I'd love to come but my wallet is soooo empty... I just bought a medieval style dress and I took an account balance.... *sighs* I think there are no words needed :(

I think it's a really excellent idea... even more in autumn... I can't stand the heat. I nearly fainted again a few days ago.

Macfive, where you talking about Grandfather Mountain in NC?  It is beautiful on top of that Mountain.  That sounds like a wonderful place to meet. I seen the Highland Games at Grandfather Mt. on the travel channel a few months ago. Of course Georgia would be ok.  I've never been in Georgia, but have always wanted to do some traveling down south in Dixie. I like this idea of meeting vera vera much!  If Macfive gets to bring his livestock, I must bring my horsie.  :D  She has a very Irish name and I didn't even name her.  So, I believe we were destined to be.   :D  :D   Looking forward to seeing all my Celtic friends eyeball to eyeball in the near future.
