Attended the Southern N.H. Scottish Highland Games today! We really enjoyed this one last year, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperative this year. Rain and clouds. We left shortly after the Highland Dancing award cermonies. I did catch the introduction and the mass band is always good. Had some fish and chips and saw a really pumped up Glengarry Bohys performing. Looks like they got quite a loyal following as the crowd was really into it.
Here is a picture of the kids at the Dance competition. James on the left and Vicki dancing.
Great looking picture. How did the kids do. It looks like they were having a good time. Will you be going to the NH games in Sept.? If so maybe we can connect and talk about the radio.

Thanks baldpiper! Yes, I hope to be up in Hopkinton State park. Not sure what our plans are. Either a day trip or if we find a place to stay overnight. Not familiar with the area and lodging. I know I better act quick if I do want to find a place.
Sounds like it is going to be an aweseom time. I am sure the organizers are going all out where this is the first game outside of Loon Mountain in 25 years!
Great pic of the kids! I was much chagrined to find that the local highland games (Vancouver BC) were 2 weeks ago and I missed them! I was able to go once to Santa Rosa, CA's HG but all I remember is the beer, pipe music and how hot it was. I can't wait to get to another.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
We always have a "highland weekend" at our local Ren Faire. It's really alot of fun, and the dirty old Scot they get to host the games is HILARIOUS! And since the "town" is set in England, everyone has great fun at the Sherrif's expense. The only bad thing: my buddy Shaun wore a kilt "regimental-style", sans sporran. And to get on the field for the caber toss, he climbed a fence. EEWWW. (And no, ladies, Shaun is NOT attractive. NO ONE enjoyed that sight!)

I hope I'm able to go to the Chicago area Highland Games this year. It is sometime in July. Looks like I'll have to visit a rest area and get one of the visitors' guides to find out exactly when & where it is...

Anyhoo....the only Highland games we have here is at the Renaissance Festival and that's only in Oct-Nov. *pout* And at the Celtic or Scottish Festivals but those are very small events....very small.
I wish that there were BIG games here every summer....*pout grumble pout*
Hey everyone, I just registered today and wanted to say hi. Im from Maine and will be going to the N.H. highland games this year...we usually go to the Maine games and the ones in New Brunswick but decided against the Maine games this year since it has been so hot there the last few years. We (me, my wife and our 4 kids) are excited for the N.H. festival since we have never been to that one before. We are camping at a campsite right in town close to the festival site ....i'll have to check with the wife to get the name of the place. But anyway....I belong to the Clan Davidson, (father's side) and Clan Gordon (mother's side) and I wear the kilt of the Gordon. So who is going to be there this Sept???? Take care Beannachd Leibh, Mike
It looks like the weather cooperate this year. This will be our first visit to these games and we are looking forward to it. Have gone to the NH Highland Games, now in the low lands of New Hampshire.

If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character. If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world. So let it be.
Just got back from the 2004 Addition of the SNH Highland Games, what a great day. Our family enjoyed all the activities, and my 87 year-old father was able to join us. The music and the games were good, and was small enough that you could move around veary easily. Plan a retun trip next year.
