I think it all depends on what the state gets through polluting. If they gain something from having companies that poolute they are for less control and if they don't get much they are for mor control so they can look good. rolleyes.gif

It's all about the all mighty buck and the states will side with what ever group(s) bring in the most. It's pathetic when government will sell out our environment for a few extra $$$'s

The major coal companies, and to a lesser degree, the other energy giants, want the anti-pollution rules removed. They are major contributors to the Republican party. Guess where the new US policies came from. sad.gif

I personally feel there should be no donations allowed during elections and only a certain amount can be spent on elections that way every candiate has a fair chance of winning. TV ads should be a given and each candiate should be allowed so much air time for a reasonable cost or for free and same for other things.

This way you don't have someones whose rich or well connected for donantions spending hundreds of thouhsands if not millions on an election compared to maybe a better candiate who hasn't got much to spend on his campaign.

Campaign reform is a very hard topic on which to make progress. The people writting the bills and voting on them have a direct conflict of interest in the outcome.

Well one way to force this issue that most people forget is to amend the constitution through a natioan convention by-passing the federal government this is a constitutional means of amending the constitution. For instance we the people could repeal the 16th amendment if we chose. (That's the income tax amendment if you were not aware of it my little pet peave as this is what funds out monster) While it maybe harder to pass I think this could be done because it effectives takes the controls out of the governments hands and leaves it to the people. Another thing I am for is term limits congress sure as heck set a term limit for the preseident yet they won't for themselves because they don't want to give up the power. censored.gif censored.gif

This brings us back around to the conflict of interest issue. wink.gif
