I hope that this list will not grow too large but there are always festivals which fade away over the years. Sometimes due to mismanagement, sometimes to uncooperative weather but usually due to the lack of support from corporate sponsors and patrons. Make sure to get out to the festivals and show your support!!
The second annual Celtic Nations Festival in Vacaville, California took place on June 26 and 27, 2004. Unfortunately, there will not be a third annual festival due to inadequate funds.
The Celtic Fling and Highland Games in Palmetto, Florida which was to take place on February 19 and 20, 2005, has been postponed until further notice. _________________________________________________________________
The Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival and Highland Games in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Last festival took place on May 14 and 15, 2004

Thanks for keeping us posted on this Keltic. I know it will help a lot of people - what a great idea. It is a shame that these events close down due to lack of funding. Hopefully this list will not get too long!

Apparently, the South Texas Celtic Music Festival is reorganizing and will hopefully re-emerge under the umbrella of the South Texas Celtic Music Association. According to the website (http://www.southtexascelticfestival.org/), there are no events scheduled for 2005 which means that the festival that was previously listed as taking place on November 12, 2005, is not happening.
Due to Hurricane Katrina, the 2005 Highlands and Islands Scottish Games, previously scheduled to take place on November 12 and 13, have been cancelled. The next games will be held in November 2006. http://www.highlandsandislands.org/
Due to the lack of available hotel rooms in the Baton Rouge area, the 2005 Highland Games of Louisiana were cancelled. The next Games have been scheduled to take place on November 17-19, 2006. http://www.lahighlandgames.com/
The Tallahasse Celtic Festival, originally scheduled to take place on November 19, 2005, has been postponed until February 11, 2006. Many volunteers are busy with aiding in the recovery from Hurricane Katrina and are unable to put in the time needed leading up to the festival. http://www.tallahasseecelticfestival.com/
Cincinnati Folk Life has announced that it will not be presenting the "Celtic World Festival" in 2006. Originally slated for September 23 and 24, 2006, the festival which would have celebrated it's 15th year, should return in 2007. More information can be found at their website - Cincinnati Celtic World Festival
A bit after the fact, but the Shasta Highlands Renaissance and Celtic Faire which was originally to take place on May 6-7, 2006 in Anderson, California was cancelled. They are hoping to be able to bring it back for 2007. http://www.shastahighlands.org/
The North Georgia Celtic Festival in Gainesville, Georgia will not be taking place this year. The festival previously took place on July 23 and 24, 2005. They are hoping to find some way to revive it for 2007. There is a press release on their website. http://www.emeraldrose.com/ngcf/
Although, 2005 saw a record number of competitors, the number of spectators has dwindled. Fund-raising efforts fell short and therefore, the Sarnia Highland Games, originally slated to take place on August 18 and 19, 2006 in Sarnia, Ontario will not be held. They will try to find the funding and hopefully return for 2007. Press release can be viewed on their website - http://www.sarniahighlandgames.com
It has been announced that the Seacoat Irish Festival in Dover, New Hampshire will not be held in 2006. The festival has run for the past three years and last took place on August 27 and 28, 2005. http://www.seacoastirishfestival.com/
The Alabama Highland Games which take place in Montgomery, Alabama will not take place this September. They are planning on returning in September of 2007. As is a recurring theme with festivals around North America, volunteers are desperately needed as well as sponsorship.
The Tallahassee Celtic Festival, first rescheduled to February of 2006 which in turn was rained out and rescheduled to October 7 & 8, 2006, has again been cancelled. Reasons given are lack of funds and volunteers.
More information can be found at their website in addition to contact information to volunteer for future events (without the volunteers, don't expect the festival to continue) - http://www.tallahasseecelticfestival.com/
Thank you Celtic Cat for bringing this to our attention!!
