| Just a quick update on a few things we are working on: 1. Email - Yes, free email is definitely coming to the Highlander Radio website! We did not want to go with one of those email services that requires pop-up ads and intrusive emails, so we are installing our very own email scripts on the Highlander Radio server! Additionally, this will allow us to protect our users confidential data from getting into spammers hands! Free email accounts will be available under ScottishRadio.net and CelticRadio.net with a third domain quite possible in the future. Spell checking, calandering, address book, file transfers and spam blockers are just a few of the options we are looking at. Our best estimate is to have this service ready is sometime in March. 2. Yahoo Celtic Directory! - We are looking at the possibility of adding a sub-website that looks very close to Yahoo, only with Celtic theme and colors. This website would allow webmaster and individuals to submit sites to the directory. It has a ton of features and we will probably mimic the same colors that are found on our Top 100 Celtic sites. 3. We are getting ready to switch our mail list program from Bravenet services to our very own mail list server. Again, our concern is with protecting our users email addresses and also removing these advertisments from the newsletter feature. Our newsletter abilities will be expanded with the ability to have 100's of thousands of subscribers and multiple newsletter lists to subscribe to! 4. As posted else where on this board, we are going to be upgrading our menu system to a fancy DHTML menu system. In addition to faster load times, it will be graphically much easier to navigate. 5. E-Store. We are holding off on our estore plans as we concentrate on completing the above projects. Right now our E-store and introduction of our promotional items looks like for sometime in July of 2002. Thats it for now. Any feedback or questions please let us know! |
