oldraven, otherwise known as Adam. Currently Edmonton, Alberta, but may very well be, (and I hope), Halifax, Nova Scotia by the time this all comes about. Actually, just count me as Halifax. The farther east, the better, in my opinion. |

Mikel also known as young Raven Indianapolis,In The Peckary also lives here and I would like to volunteer his rather large estate on the affluent North side of Indianapolis for the event Arminta could provide music and I'm sure that Jason aka Barrdas would make the trip if it landed in the Midwest I'm just volunteering everyone. Peace Mikel |

Liriel, Northcentral Pennsylvania... My parents have a place for a reunion if needed. 208 acres in the Applachain Mountains. 30 acre lake 2 cabins can sleep about 8 in one, 12 in the other, also lots of room to camp with tents or RVs. Close to stores and theatre, also have several festivals during the summer months, road rallies and rattlesnake round up. |
Posted by: gaberlunzie 14-Apr-2004, 01:52 PM |
Oh, that sounds so good, Liriel!!! Not so sure about the rattlesnake round up.. |
Posted by: Raven 14-Apr-2004, 02:05 PM
Hey G We certainly don't want those rattlesnakes slithering around loose Mikel |

I think Peckerworld would be a great place too! |
Posted by: maisky 15-Apr-2004, 06:49 AM |
I would add my vote for Peckerworld! |
Posted by: oldraven 15-Apr-2004, 07:59 AM |
Wherever we end up, there's always the next meet to get to one of the other places. So if we miss your town in '08, just wait until '09. |
Posted by: Annabelle 15-Apr-2004, 12:44 PM |
That is extremely sound advice OldRaven! I'm ready to come up your way anyhoo! It's already getting too warm down here. We were in the pool Monday and 85, today it's 48. Go figure! A |
Posted by: oldraven 15-Apr-2004, 12:55 PM |
Yeah, same here. Last week it was beautiful and sunny. We actually got above 20 (68). All the snow was gone, and the grass was getting green. Now it's been snowing for three days and todays high will be -1 (30). This blasted arctic low has moved down to the border and is going south east from there. We should be back into the double digits again on saturday though, thanks to the west coast tossing some hot air at us. I can't help but think that having it in Nova Scotia would be the next best thing to crossing the Atlantic, but I'm not holding my breath. It's quite a bit out of the way. But I got dibs on the next one. |
Posted by: Blue_Rogue 16-Apr-2004, 10:17 AM |
I vote for Old Raven's suggestion; Nova Scotia Somehow I think that would be appropreate, at least for the first one. |
Posted by: JaneyMae 16-Apr-2004, 11:33 AM |
The would be a nice visit! Never been to Nova Scotia..... |
Posted by: 3Ravens 17-Apr-2004, 12:06 AM |
I live in Norfolk Va. But for me.....have gas money, will travel! Nova Scotia sounds nice! Can we go during Stanfest? |
Posted by: Liriel Baenre Do'Urden 17-Apr-2004, 08:14 AM |
I vote for Nova Scotia too. As long as their are campgrounds. My husband and I love to camp and it would be great to be able to bring the kids and dogs. |
Posted by: oldraven 17-Apr-2004, 08:48 AM |
http://www.stanfest.com/ usually takes place on the Canada Day weekend. July 1st. This should be a good year, as Canso is celebrating its 400th birthday. (Yup, 1604) But, we're not talking this year, so that doesn't really matter. Yes, there is camping galore. Remember, New Scotland's nothing but hills and forest, so campgrounds are everywhere. I wouldn't recomend to anyone thinking of going to Stanfest someday that you use on-site camping. It's just a field on the hill to pitch a tent on. If you don't mind a 15min walk along the shore and through the old town, you should check out one campground just up the road. It's completely off to the side, fairly quiet, and it's all the way in the woods. Walk across the old dirt road, and you're on the shore. This is where Ange, Ivy and I stayed when we went back in......... '01? Another thing you all might find interesting is the http://www.antigonishhighlandgames.com/, which is in its 141st year. If we do, I'll talk to my parents about turning the field, or some other part of the farm, into a private campground for a few days. I'm sure they'd love the idea. (I think you'd like to see the University as well. It's quite a sight) This place is all tourism, so if you want me to keep snooping, just say so. Stanfest is sort of a multi-cultural folk festival, and not all that much about Celtic music, though it is represented there. There's always the http://www.nstattoo.ca/. And if you're into the war stuff, there are so many old English and French forts in the region, you wouldn't know where to start. I'd sugest the Halifax Citadel, because then you would be able to walk down the hill to the historic waterfront where all the old docks are still standing, (and being used), and the old buildings as well. Including the Keith's brewery. Look, I could go on forever, so I'm just going to leave all that out there. (shouldn't I be getting paid by some government agency for all this advertising? ) |
Posted by: gaberlunzie 17-Apr-2004, 01:57 PM
For SURE you should! Man, I love your posts and all the information which I'm absorbing like a sponge...it all sounds so interesting and beautiful! More of them, please! |
Posted by: tsargent62 19-Apr-2004, 08:52 AM |
Nova Scotia would be great. I was there for just one day last summer as it was one of the stops for a cruise we went on. One day wasn't nearly enough. It is a beautiful place with lots to do and see. |
Posted by: Eamon 19-Apr-2004, 09:41 AM |
I am in North Wales, Pennslyvania, and think the STANFEST plan is great. Lets do it. Eamon |
Posted by: Annabelle 19-Apr-2004, 09:54 AM |
Eamon, but is it your Pennsylvania? |
Posted by: oldraven 19-Apr-2004, 10:19 AM |
W00T! Sounding good for me so far. If you want, I'll work out some sort of Cape Breton pilgramage to go on before settling down for Stanfest. You can't go all the way to Canso NS without seeing the http://www.cabottrail.com/ While in CB, it's an easy stop to see the http://www.novatrails.com/trails/capebreton/louisbourg/index.php |
Posted by: Eamon 19-Apr-2004, 11:26 AM
Aye, Lassie, it is! Its MINE. I have officaily declared it the "Provisional Republic of Pennsylvania" And its an Island. I just have to do something about New Jersey and Ohio...I canna have them riding our coat tails. See you at Stanfest? Oldraven knows all the Stan lyrics...I am planning on being his groupie. Eamon |
Posted by: A Shrule Egan 19-Apr-2004, 04:48 PM
Eamon, your the best. Your the one responsible for getting rid of that stupid law that motorcylists had to wear a helmet. You have made 300,000 bikers very happy. Now, fix those damn potholes!!!!!! Is it ok, if I still cross the bridge from New Jersey and ride Rt. 6?? |
Posted by: Annabelle 19-Apr-2004, 07:03 PM |
Tvhe republic of Pennsylvania is yours, hummm! Have you informed it's senator and congressmen you are taking possession. I believe you could do a better job of managing. if you run into trouble you can insist on the clause: Off with their heads' if you aren't pleased my lord. A |
Posted by: CelticRose 19-Apr-2004, 08:08 PM |
Nova Scotia would be great too as I have never been to Canada and hope to one day soon! Gotta go to Scotland first though. Hopefully that will be next year. |
Posted by: Eamon 20-Apr-2004, 08:08 AM
Ah, Shrule, you are from the Northwest area of Jersey? Beautiful area, especialy around the Water Gap and High Point. I declare the area north of Flemington 'Eagandom,' and offer you the support of my army. Caution, Teterboro and Bayonne are going to be your worst enemy, so Good luck. I am working on the Pot hole situation. My plan to fill the holes with politicians didn't work so good. People kept driving into them. Annabell, *bows* thanks for your support! Every new country needs a pretty Lady to fight for. Eamon |
Posted by: A Shrule Egan 20-Apr-2004, 05:13 PM
Eamon, we like the occasional city slicker to come up here and amuse us. They like to stop along the roadside with the farm animals and have their picture taken with them. Their biggest problem is, they don't know the difference between a cow and a bull and most end up in the hospital. |
Posted by: Annabelle 20-Apr-2004, 07:27 PM |
Eamon, My crazy champion. I bow to your supreme intelligence! Suck up! |
Posted by: Annabelle 20-Apr-2004, 07:32 PM |
I would not mind going to Nova Scotia for a get together at all. The country side is beautiful from what I've seen Oldraven has posted. But the first one to start this thing really needss to be where we can get the most peopl together at one time to have a great start and get everyone else interested in coming to the next one... |
Posted by: oldraven 21-Apr-2004, 07:40 AM |
She's right, you know. But like I said before, I got dibs on ver. 2. jk |
Posted by: Blue_Rogue 21-Apr-2004, 09:30 AM |
OK, I can understand the centralization thing. It seems to me, from what I've seen, the majority seems to be around the east coast. Might I suggest somewhere in Missouri then, since there are a few of us that are west of the Mississippi. I have no idea whats there, but it does seem fairly central. Also, might I suggest that if we're going to try to have this around some kind of gathering, how about a Renn Faire or Celtic Festival. That way no one can say we're being bias, rather than a Highland Games. Just a couple of thoughts. |
Posted by: Annabelle 21-Apr-2004, 09:36 AM |
Absolutely right OR! I hope I'll be up for the second one, have cane will travel! haha |
Posted by: Annabelle 21-Apr-2004, 09:38 AM |
Balderdash! Us bias? Never! Get the Claymore Eamon! We have a party to go to! |
Posted by: Blue_Rogue 21-Apr-2004, 09:51 AM |
I'l not saying any one is, but.......... we don't want any feelers hurt, we want an all out happy Celtic PARTY!!!!! |
Posted by: Annabelle 21-Apr-2004, 12:49 PM |
That's the reason it would be nice if we go for getting the most people together that we can. it seem's to be around the OHio to Pennsylvania area. A bunch of party animals here on the east coast. No we don't want anyone upset or feel left out! That's why we are trying to get everyone to sign up on this thread who's interested. That way everyone is considered. The final decission of locations will be voted on by everyone who is interested. That's really the only fair way to handle it. Me being in the south is way off the beaten path and I know it. So I don't mind traveling to another location. When everyone's tired of being frozen up north we will have one down here in the South so ya'll can thaw out! But dat day ain't here yet. |
Posted by: Blue_Rogue 21-Apr-2004, 01:01 PM |
OK Count me in................... Tulsa, Ok. |
Posted by: tsargent62 21-Apr-2004, 01:03 PM |
What about Alaska? They have a Highland Games in Anchorage. P.S. Just kidding. |
Posted by: oldraven 21-Apr-2004, 01:09 PM |
Pa? If you make it in early June, I'd be all over that. I could hit the Carlisle all Ford nationals and actually get to meet the boys from NATO (North American Turbocoupe Organization), then scoot over to the HR Celidh. Oh, the gears, they be tarnin. |
Posted by: Shamalama 21-Apr-2004, 01:42 PM
I'll not be having frost under me kilt! |
Posted by: Annabelle 21-Apr-2004, 03:17 PM |
I'll bring a first aide kit! I thought if you drank enough Scotch you wouldn't have a problem keeping yourself warm...you could always wear thermal undie's under... most of the guys up at Grandfather mountain tell me they wear them for more than one reason! A |
Posted by: peckery 21-Apr-2004, 03:31 PM |
I think the only fair and may I add, obvious location, would be Tokyo. They have the Highrand Game there, and it is only 7800 miles from Indianapolis! |
Posted by: Annabelle 21-Apr-2004, 04:31 PM |
aia gato! Sure I'll go to Japan but I speak better chinese so let's go there! |
Posted by: CelticRose 21-Apr-2004, 05:35 PM
Oh now that would be great too! Hubby wants to go to Alaska REALLY BAD! That would be a great excuse! Shama, put fruit of the loom under yer kilt........that might help! |
Posted by: Annabelle 21-Apr-2004, 05:51 PM |
Fruit under a kilt? Hummm, too much information! |
Posted by: Annabelle 23-Apr-2004, 10:45 AM |
Alaska is not possible this first time. Who wants to go on a cruise? Not this time but down the road? |
Posted by: tsargent62 23-Apr-2004, 10:47 AM |
I was only kidding about Alaska. A cruise would be great. I'm hooked on 'em. |
Posted by: Annabelle 23-Apr-2004, 11:08 AM |
Me too. I took my first cruise last May and I love the fact you pay one price and everything is covered...I got great care by the staff and didn't mind the gratuities I put on my credit card at all! Tsargent get your speedo bathing suit ready. |
Posted by: tsargent62 23-Apr-2004, 12:02 PM
Oh, yeah! I can feel that hot tub bubbling already! Waiter, a couple Guinesses, por favor! One for me and one for the lovely red head beside me. |
Posted by: CelticRose 23-Apr-2004, 01:58 PM |
Hubby loves cruises too and wants to go on one bad to Alaska next year. I said no way, we are going to Scotland first! Aren't I mean? |
Posted by: gaberlunzie 23-Apr-2004, 02:27 PM
Naaaaah, Rose, I would call it purposeful and honest... ! |
Posted by: Annabelle 23-Apr-2004, 02:29 PM |
Let's get thru 2008 and then while we are all together we can plan the cruise and Nova Scotia activities, ok! We really have to focus on the first activity. I'd love a cruise and hot tub with Tsargent! |
Posted by: Annabelle 23-Apr-2004, 02:30 PM |
CR you are never mean to anyone! Just wiser than the hubby! |
Posted by: Blue_Rogue 23-Apr-2004, 02:47 PM |
Well, I've never been on a cruise, but I have been on trains. Now that's a nice fantasy, book a train, start on the east coast, pick up everyone on the way to the weat coast, then up to Canada, then back east across Canada ending in Nova Scotia!!!!! The Celtic Party Train!!! Whooo Whooo All Aboard!!!!! |
Posted by: oldraven 23-Apr-2004, 03:28 PM |
Now That sounds like a good time. Pretty much impossible, because it would take a month, but a party all the same. Nice pipe dream blue rouge. |
Posted by: MDF3530 23-Apr-2004, 04:05 PM |
I'll go anywhere as long as there is these brands of beer there: Corona Foster's Killian's Miller Genuine Draft Leinenkugel's Red Molson Golden Moosehead Point Special Berghoff Michelob Golden Draft |
Posted by: CelticRose 23-Apr-2004, 04:45 PM
Mike! You are too funny! Out of all the beers, I must prefer Killians. So will have to have plenty of that for the both of us. Hubby and I have taken many train trips. In fact, in July we are taking a train trip up to the Grand Canyon. We did this two years ago and loved it. This time we are taking his uncle with us and we should have a blast! I would love to ride that train in Durango, Colorado! My hubby was a train engineer and worked on the railroad for many years, so we tend to love train rides. I hope we can do that in Scotland too! Thanks Annabelle for your kind comment. I try to treat people how I would want to be treated. |
Posted by: CelticRose 23-Apr-2004, 04:48 PM |
Blue Rogue! I absolutely love your sense of humor! Hope those tornadoes stay away from you though. I spent a week in Tulsa. Been to Oklahoma many times. Too many tornadoes for me! I lived in Georgia for 14 years! That was enough of them! |
Posted by: Annabelle 23-Apr-2004, 05:43 PM |
I'm with MDF as long as I have my Maker's Mark and a good scotch I'll go anywhere.... not picky at all. If I even thought I could get everyone down here I have 10 acre's surrounded by woods and we could have all kind of celtic activities like.....toss the taber, javlin throwing, pin the tail on the peckery! We'd have to get Tracie some kleenex cause she'd be laughing so hard....but that's ok, we can get the kleenex. |
Posted by: Liriel Baenre Do'Urden 25-Apr-2004, 09:51 AM |
I think the PA Grand Canyon would be great. There are several different campgrounds and lakes. It would be a blast. But of course if it's a party I'm game for anything. |
Posted by: Annabelle 26-Apr-2004, 07:50 PM |
So how about pin the tail on the Peckery? |
Posted by: 3Ravens 26-Apr-2004, 10:35 PM |
Sock monkeys have tails? |
Posted by: 3Ravens 26-Apr-2004, 10:40 PM |

I'll be going to the Ohio Games next weekend, 6/26/04. I'll let everyone know how it goes. |

Posted by: A Shrule Egan 21-Jun-2004, 08:29 PM
So, Lyra, join us in Sept. at Bethlehem. As of now, there are 5 of us who are meeting up there. Look for the Bethlehem thread and you can get all the details. I'm also going to the Celtic Fling this weekend at the Renfaire grounds, not to far from you. We need some help on that one, especially, someone local who may know where all the campgrounds are in the area. Let me know. |
Posted by: urian 21-Jun-2004, 08:36 PM |
Urian Texas. So..an 8-13 hour drive for me would be nothing new..heck, I have to drive 3 hours just to buy groceries |
Posted by: Lyra Luminara 21-Jun-2004, 08:41 PM |
www.parenfaire.com hmm, camp grounds, aye? ::thinks:: I'll have to get back to you on that one, haha. Yea it isn't to far from me, like an hour at most, I went there last year twice. Going to Bethlehem would be cool and all, but that's a long drive...haha, like 3 or 4 hours man, I don't know. |
Posted by: A Shrule Egan 21-Jun-2004, 08:46 PM
No, no!!! Less than 2 hours from you. Been to York many times at the Harley factory and Gettysburg. Bethlehem is an easy ride up the Turnpike Northeast Extension near Dorney Park. |
Posted by: Camchak 22-Jun-2004, 05:41 AM |
*Changes Subject* OK, here is a rabbit trail! Did you say Harley, like Harley-Davidson? I have an '03 RoadKing.....*Changes Subject back* |

Hey, all of this sniveling about a little distance is pitiful! Once i needed a book that was only at the Library of Congress in DC and I live in Georgia so I left Sunday morning drove up to Va, spent the night and then drove in to the Library downtown DC and photed the book and then got back into the car anad drove home getting in that night at midnight....where are ya'lls spirit of adventure? You guys sound like a bunch of old farts! Sometimes a road trip is good for your attitude. Tru it more often to set your spirits free. Happy driving! A |
Posted by: Lyra Luminara 22-Jun-2004, 01:12 PM |
hahah hey I'm all for adventure, I guess I'm just scared of not having gas money...like always. I'll look into Bethlehem though. |
