I'm new to Celtic Radio but not new to Irish Music. I Play the Uilleann pipes and various penny whistles and have performed at festivals and given workshops in England, Ireland, Scotland and America. Irish music is from, in and out of the soul of each person. It relates to all the past pain and torture, love and hate of centuries of persecution by Vikings, English, whomever happened to invade Ireland at the time. The fighting back and defending themselves against the invader created the great songs and tunes which have been passed down to us today.

Maybe if everything back then was easy, then we wouldn't have the deep and emotional music passed down to us today. Some of my piping tunes are on Celtic radio and I hope you all enjoy listening to them as much as I enjoying playing and performing them.

Slainte
Thank you
Robbie Byrne

Welcome to the site Robby. I think you are right about the music. There is so much spirit and emotion in these songs a tribute to the many people's of the past who fought hard for their liberty and freedom. Glad to have you on Celtic Radio and please make yourself at home.
