Is hip-hop poetry or mindless talk that rymes.
I belive it can be a little of both. I have recently heard a song of hip-hop but it has a good point.
What do you all think?

I don't like the delivery of Hip-Hop myself, and it won't be comming through my KLH unless it's part of a movie or something. However, I've read some of the lyrics and that's a whole 'nother ballgame. That I could read all day.

I was first introduced to such when I was visiting with some friends who had a book of poetry from 2Pac... I was impressed! And the lyrics I've read since then have been pretty good too.

The music stinks... the lyrics rule! That's my opinion.

I agree. The music is wrather plain but the lyrics are pretty cool. But I hate the rap on mtv. They think they're so gangster. I would like to see them last one day in the hood.

I believe music should be melodious. HipHop is generally angry music- quite often angry and nasty as well. I can do without it- even if there's good poetry involved- there's gobs of good poetry out there without having to subject myself to the awful delivery of hiphop.

I am not a fan of Hip-Hop but some of the lyrics are well written and have a message or an expression...not the general rhyming of the last words to make the song flow.

Been a fan since the early eighties but I really don't care for the language and violence that permeates so much of it now. Maybe that's why its in a decline-its shock value has worn off. Even my youngest who was a big tupac fan doesn't listn to it anymore.
