Cold chills on a hot summer day, psychic fortelling, astral projection, and remote viewing, I do believe in all of these for the simple fact that not only are humans power plants but so is every living thing, and on a more basic level power can be shown with highfrequency vibrations for ex. hold a spoon over a fire and through induction the handle of the spoon heats up because electrons are forced to speed up increasing the speed of the individual electrons around each other and eventually burning your fingers every thing we do has a reaction on the things around us altering the frequencies of those objects and possibly making a resonating impression. objects have memories and we can become a semi-permenant part of those memories by imparting an extreme emotional imprint.

At least that sounds good to me.

Easy answer: yes
I've not personally encountered one and known it, but sometimes you feel watched although noone's there. Hear voices when noone's talking, or see shapes in the window that have no reason for being there.

In our religions we believe in eternal life, yet we tend to fear or deny the spirits that are this life. There are those that walk between the worlds both those of the flesh and those of the spirit; there is much to be learned from them. We have been taught to fear spirits (ghosts) by those that do not understand.

To answer your question : yes to the continuing life of "spirit" and NO to the Hollywood ghost.

This topic has now entered my world.

O'siyo,
Of course I believe in 'spirits'....I have seen them, smelled them and been witness to their total capabilities..Spirits or ghosts exist because they are in part responsible for our future paths traveled, past questions answered and to assist us in our daily queries... angel.gif
Although many Native American groups placed great importance on individual spiritual experience, they were never spiritual consumers, nor were such experiences private. All supernatural encounters were evaluated, and accepted or rejected, by the elders of the tribe. The purpose of such experience was always the strengthening of the individual for good of the people, never simply personal edification.
Of course this is just my opinion..so again I say, aye, I do believe lookaround.gif

Personally, while I believe in souls, I do not believe in eart-bound ghosts. However, that does not mean that I don't believe in hautnings! Its just that I don't believe its ghosts that are doing the haunting! Ever heard of demons?

I do believe in paranormal activity.

I prefer to have people prove a negative -- that ghosts DON'T exist -- before I quit believing. And since you can't prove a negative, all I can say from a purely scientific point of view is NEENER NEENER NEENER!

Ummm.... Excuse me but, unless I am mistaken, the question involved here was one of opinion, not proof. Nowhere did I read anywhere that anyone had to prove anything, and since I am entitled to my own opinion, all I can say is NEENER NEENER NEENER back at ya! biggrin.gif

If your asking about the "stereotypical" ghost, then no, I don't believe, but there is something. I have experienced things that I can't explain. Did they originate in my own mind, were they "communications" from the "other side", friendly signs, sinister apparitions, or something else? I don't know, nor do I have to know. I just accept that there are many things that I (nor anyone else) can't explain or identify.

Posted by: MDF3530 18-Aug-2004, 04:12 PM
When I say that I believe in paranormal activity, I don't mean stuff like crop circles or ghosts like Nearly Headless Nick in the "Harry Potter" books. I mean like those instances where you think you see something in your peripheral vison, but what you thought you saw isn't there when you look directly at the same spot.

Posted by: Gordon 18-Aug-2004, 06:33 PM
I definately believe since I once experienced something I was totally unable to explain and still can't. Where I used to live, there was an old town a few hours drive from my home that had 'died off' so to say. It was said that the town founders were exiled from England for witchcraft and were not at all happy about the exile but started the little place but it never really took hold and eventually faded away to a few old buildings and such. Well, I had been told that there were indeed activities that no one could explain that happen there on regular intervals so I wanted to see for myself. I took the drive and finally found the old place. All I can say is, eerie.....When I went, it was a hot, humid evening but the air around the town somehow felt cooler but more oppresive and harder to catch a breath in if you understand what I mean. Also, there wasn't a bird or insect sound to be heard which in itself was odd. The silence, once you stepped into the town square, was alarming. It was as if I had gone deaf.

To answer the original Question.....Yes!

I currently reside in a house that has Ghosts who occupy it with us living folk. people whom I have never known and also some from my own family. So it makes for a very interesting living experience.

i do believe in ghosts i have seen them .when i was a teen me and my brother ran off from our home one day we went walking in the woods because we could escape from our troubles at home .well on this certain day we walked for hours just listening to the sounds in the woods and enjoying our freedom .we the came upon and old house .and being kinda stupid we walked into the old house and met this old woman she was an elderly woman i can still remember the sweet smell of her perfume .she was very sweet to us and she told us that she had bought the house and was busy unpacking her things and trying to clean up at the same time we offered our help and got very busy into helping her not paying attention to how late it was getting we went on cleaning and unpacking until it started to get dark .we told her that we had to go and she told us how kind we were to help her .
because she had no family liveing that could help her .she gave us some change for helping and when you are young you dont care how much money that you got heck a couple of penny's would have been alot to any child at our ages .we thanked her and told her that we would come back the next day after school and help with more unpacking she thanked us and said i hope you do come back because iam very lonely and have no one to talk to .we told her bye and headed back on our way home .we couldnt wait to get home from school and go help the old lady. the day at school went by really quick to us and as soon as we got home we ran to the woods as fast as we could we came upon the old house and something was very different even from the distance you could tell something was wrong . we got to the porch and went in there was nothing there the house was empty and no sighn of the old lady just the dirty floors and cabinets that we had cleaned the day before .so when i say i do believe in ghosts i can say i really mean it .there is no other explanation i can think of she had to be a ghost .

Absolutely. I believe in ghosts and I agree with Shadows on that that they are spirits walking between the worlds. They are nothing to be sacred of. I have had several experiences and if one is ready to "listen" they are great helpers and teachers.

Sorry...I'm seemingly the queen of typos. I have to correct this as I meant that these spirits are nothing to be SCARED of...

O'siyo WizardofOwls,
~Aye, I have indeed heard of demons..perhaps my beliefs about demons differ from yours and others but, I do believe in demons and I also believe they are entirely different from 'spirits' dontgetit.gif
~ I believe demons are tortured souls..I believe these individuals met their fate in horrific, traumatic and sudden ways sad.gif I believe when they 'haunt' or 'torture' us it isn't truly being directed at us~ It's just these demons are so revengeful and angry they have no choice but to act out in malicious ways~ For instance, poltergeist activity, malicious 'doings' around the home like glass breaking, furniture moving, unsettling 'touches' such as being pushed or locked in a room unsure.gif We just happen to be the 'unfortunate' ones that get the 'blunt end' of their torture~ These entities are going to do whatever and already 'we' have been taught to fear 'spirits' so not being able to 'explain' or 'understand' why they exist already puts us on the defensive...so when these unexplained occurences happen it only adds to our fear~ Fact of the matter is these demons are malicious but not entirely hopeless~ I just know that with the 'right words/actions' these demons can find peace~ I believe they have no choice but to 'haunt' until they are given assistance to the 'Other Plane' of 'life'~ This 'assistance' I believe is why we exist here on Mother Earth..making room for new lives sleep.gif

I don't believe in ghosts of past loved ones ect. I think that if we do see what we think is a ghost of a family member, for instance, that the vision is that of an angel or demon. An angel may appear to us in the form of someone we trust to send us a "message". A demon on the other hand may be there only to make one think they are seeing the quote unquote hollywood ghost to test ones faith.

Ay, I do believe in ghosts. I've met some of them. I met them during Samhain rituals, I once met one in my bedroom. I woke up and was no longer alone in a room I was alone in when I locked the door before going to sleep. I met them near my friends house which is standing in a small town about 30 minutes by car from Berlin. I met them inside my friends house.
The longer I learn the more I feel them. During the last year, which was my second year of learning wicca, it was more frequently. And all of those encounters happened during the two years I do learn wicca.
I believe you need a certain kind of sensitivity to feel them. The more sensitive you are the less there need be for them to contact you and for you to feel them.
That's what I believe.

I've seen too many strange things to discount the possiblity of ghosts. We have a few of our own up here in Upper Michigan. Mostly to do with Lake Superior but I've heard stories of a few in our two towns. Lots of mafia, moonshining, mining stuff up here. Only had two experiences myself and neither were friendly. Once when I was about five with a group of friends and once after my conversion to Roman Catholicism. The memory second one still gives me goosebumps.

the Roman Catholic Church reconizes ghosts (Lots of stories) but wants us to refrain from communication because of what they may or may not be.

Absolutely do believe, I have lived in three different houses. had one in a house I lived in back in the 70's it was not nice, but it also was not evil. Lived in a house here from 89 to 01, we had at least two that we believe where children or at least child like. They only played with our grandkids toy's!! and only at night and never when the grandkids are here. We have one here now! since we moved out into the country, it stays in the living room and only plays with the dogs.

Yes, I believe.
Seeing is not believing.
Believing is seeing.

If you really want to have some fun, take a good cassette recorder.
I use a Panasonic. Find an old graveyard out of the city. This is to
cut down on the noise transmitted through the ground. Night when
all is quite is the best. Choose a grave, unwrap a fresh new tape,
place the recorder on the grave. If you have a mic. it is even better
because you drop it into the flower pot hole. Turn on the recorder and
walk away. Count your steps so you will discount the sound on your
tape. DO NOT TALK, MOVE, COUGH, SNIFF, OR MAKE ANYOTHER SOUND
FOR THE LENGTH OF TIME YOU PLAN TO RECORD. Check that there is not
a train track close or roadway as these sounds will travel through the ground. Now when you return to the grave to turn off the recorder, again count your steps to discount the noise on the recordeing.
I do not have as much luck with the mini recorders as they sound to tinny.
I have recorded some amazing sounds. Don't expect to get a lot of scary
stuff the first time out. I pick graves from the war years, unless I have been
ask to record a special grave by family. Believe me you will get a whole new
slant on this subject. I've been at it for 22 years and still get excited at what
I capture on tape.

Absolutely!! I've had several ghosts in my life - some good some bad. My kids still have ghosts following them from their youth. I've had very pleasant experiences as well as some terrifying experiences! I loved when my Aunt Weege used to visit - she was great comfort and chased away an evil entity. Ghosts? Absolutely!!!

Very interesting everyone. I'll have to try that Donajhi.

I have lived in this house for quite sometime now. I couldn't tell you how often it happens but it always happens around 11:30 P.M. to midnight. The sliding doors open and shut then thats it gone. One day I should get a video camera and set it up but when you don't know what day it's going to happen it makes that kind of hard to do. I just think this is a awesome thread.

Rindy,
A friend is a real video nut, he has some kind of a thingy that starts his camera
with motion. He has gotten some amazing video footage.

I'll stick with my cassette recorder. I'm a simple type of gal.

Have you ever watched TAPS on the scifi channel. Their equipment is pretty cool.
I just get tired of them walking into a space, calling out, "Anybody here want to
comunicate with us?" Then they get their answer and jump around, cuss, and
in general carry on like idiots. If you ask for it, DUH!!! eek.gif

Posted by: Rindy 30-Jun-2007, 01:32 PM
Thanks for that information. I didn't know they sold something like that. The more I think about I think what I don't see can't hurt me...lol... Yeah, I agree with you they do sound like idots on that show.. I remember when The Blair Witch came out- I thought now thats wierd..tupid...it sure changed the world in a sense.

Don't you find it strange how we stand in awe of the little scifi haunted shows?
And our grandsires took the whole other side in stride. In fact the legends and
folk lore I was taught as a child was about there being no such thing as death.
We just crossed to another plain and I remember the old folks talking to the
ones that had crossed over as if they were setting across from them. Things would move, curtains move, door shut and close and etc.
My twin passed when we were three, I talked to Dana as if he was there. Guess I should get back to it, that was a happier time.
We let electronics do our thinking now, how sad.

I do not believe in ghosts though I do believe that we are sent signs if we are sensitive enough to pick up on them.

My religion believes in a place between heaven and hell (purgatory) where those died while not in full grace go. We do not believe they are free to return as ghosts.

I don't believe in ghosts as commonly accepted; souls that are haunting earth. The Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost), I believe in.

I am not quite sure how to explain the paranormal experiences that people have experienced, but I can't attribute it to a lost soul. I think most of the "ghosts" that people sense have some logical explanation, or psychosomatic influence.

Posted by: ryansgirl 08-Oct-2013, 01:15 PM
I have never seen a ghost but I do believe there are some. After all just about every city has some kind of haunted house or ghost tour. And just about every era or some part of this world has had something unexplainable happen.

Just as I believe there probably is some kind life form as many galaxies there are in the world.

Okay. some might say I watch too much Dr. Who, after all I did start with the classic Dr. Who. While the 3rd was my first, Tom Baker (4) was my favorite. laugh.gif

Absolutely I believe!! I have had an encounter with a spirit at a B&B in PA. Awakened to covers being pulled off of me. Thought I was dreaming. Pulled them back up and almost immediately they were pulled off again. I can tell you it really shook me up, until I stopped to realize it wasn't trying to hurt me. Then I was intrigued by the experience. Next morning I went to breakfast and found out from the owner that his sister had the exact same experience in the same room. WOW!! Then I knew for sure it wasn't my imagination. I have always believed that spirits are around and for the most part they are friendly and watching over us in the same way as Angels. Angels however, are totally different beings, not spirits. angel.gif

I'm currently reading a book called "Deliver Us from Evil' which is true story about a NYC police officer who sidelines as an exorcist assistant. It's a collection of stories describing some of the encounters he has had with the "other side". Although it rasies a couple of red flags for me ( like the mentioning of working with Ed and Lorraine Warren) some of the stuff is pretty interesting. It's just been released as a movie but we all know how well books translate into movies. So if you want some good halloween reading material check it out. You just might learn something new.
