Well, if you have not heard our yearly fund raising drive has started in earnest. Celtic Radio has a lot hanging on this fund raising event. The yearly fees to broadcast are very expensive, and the ability to generate funding for Celtic Music is not that great compared to other music genres.

But that is why it is so important that all of our music channels can stay online and available for free to introduce new people to the genre. Sure, we could just stream our channels to only paid listeners, but would we be doing a service to Celtic music and musicians by not introducing new people to the music and Culture?

Every year we think for sure this will be our last year and we will not meet the goal and we will have to close down most of our channels. But every year you folks come through and for that we are very grateful.

We would like to share with you an email that we received last St. Patrick's Day from a long time member who lived to love Celtic Music. It touched our hearts and made us realize the importance of continuing Celtic Radio:

"Hello,

I want to thank you for years of great music and friendships. I go into hospice on St. Patrick's Day so I hope to set the laptop when I arrive and leave it on. Celtic Radio has been one site that I have told my friends about and I know some have joined. I am going to miss you! Slainte!

Gord Wilson
"

We have not heard from Gord since, but we are very happy that we were there for him during his last days.

Thanks again for everyones support. We hope to possibly make a new award on Celtic Radio for a musician or group that is dedicated to Gord's memory. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Glad to help. I agree with offering the service to others at no cost - If the service hadn't been offered for free when I first found the station I never would have started listening in the first place. Thank's for all your dedication and hard work.

That's some great feedback and thanks for supporting our website and channels. We want to try our best to offer the right mix of free listener slots that are available.

Our goal is to keep all channels at there current levels. We know it is a lot to ask, but without Celtic Radio there are very few dedicated 24/7 websites like Celtic Radio. We have been going since 2003 - that's 10 years! And we plan on being here atleast another 30 years if you all want us to. smile.gif

A couple of surprises to us is the popularity of Celtic Moon. This is by far our most popular channel, but Celt-Rock-Radio is really busting through and we expect St. Patrick's Day this year to be huge for us!

Thanks to everyone for helping us stay online!

We are just a few hundred dollars away from our Goal. Thank you all very much as it looks like we will be around for another year! biggrin.gif

Some of the thank you gifts are going fast and others are completely sold out, so if there is something you wanted please do so soon!

THANK YOU!

Just a little while ago we broke our fund raising goal for 2014. Thanks to your efforts and generosity we will be able to continue all 6 of our Celtic Music channels. The combined total of all of these channels offers a total of 240 free listener slots for people to listen and enjoy.

Our deadline is fast approaching on February 8th that we must pay the yearly renewal fees for all of these channels and we are very humbled to know that our supporters have it covered.

Thank you once again for allowing us to be online for another year!

We have removed all of the audio and banner advertising on our fund raising drive to get back to the business of playing Celtic Music. We do still have several calendar and engagement calendars left over if you are in need of one.

Otherwise we might include them in our St. Patrick's Day contest as we don't want to see them go to waste!

Thanks again everyone! thumbs_up.gif wink.gif
