Hi, I thought I would start this thread with the purpose of having a meeting place of some sort where we could all share about anything that is going on with us from day to day, what we are doing that day, the weather, our moans, concerns or just to check in and say hello to everyone. Sometimes on a site as big as this, we want to read the forums but don't have time to reply to all, if any that day, but it is nice just to come in and say hello to everyone and that you are still here and okay or not! Well I will start, just to give you an idea on what the heck my idea is for this thread.

Today has been a day of interruptions for me. I have tried to get on here and post, but there have been things to do in the house and etc. The weather is nice here in sunny Arizona. Just the right temps in the 60s and I am back in my shorts........woot! Predicting rain for later this week........yeah, right! We never believe the weatherman here! rolleyes.gif

I also signed up for Live 365 VIP membership today! Wow! That is really cool! That means I can get in anytime and it is always set to Highlander Radio! I love it that it has the name of artist and title of song, so I always know who I am listening to, just like before but better! Also love the little icon it puts on my desktop so I can access into it much quicker.

well that is about all with me today. Hubby will be home soon and want dinner and the computer. Other than that I am doing well.

How are you all doing? What is new? Just blether (Scottish for chat) away on whatever you want to talk about. Just no gossip or bad mouthing of folks here or about other sites, ok? Thanks and enjoy! gossip.gif

That's what I use my journal for smile.gif Or wait, that's just a thread about me, a place for me to go and just let the id take over.
Really nice playlist going all day long, company on Highlander, I'm set smile.gif

Hi Aaediwen! There is a really nice list of music going on today, isn't there.

Are you all ready for your trip to Ireland? Woo hoo! I am so envious but happy for you. One day I will get to the land of the green too! I have a friend who lives in Northern Ireland, outside of Belfast, so that helps too. She has already been to my home to visit and one day hope to visit her. I want to go to Scotland first though. Still working on that trip. rolleyes.gif

Great idea Celticrose!

Things are going well with me considering I lost my brother in December. I am keeping busy on the forums, and with Spring in the air outside work to do now. My health is great and the family is fine. Not much more a person can ask for. I just heard about the shooting in Minnesota. I know where that is. The kid went in had several weapons and started shooting at the school. Kids can't even go to school..

What bothers me, in 2002 I went back to my old High School to retrieve a copy of my portfolio. It was so alien from when I was a student. One could walk across the foyer while classes were out for lunch (which had been a battle when I was in school). Also, Police have patrold the halls since my senior year, and they still do. Visitors can't get as far as the office anymore you sign in right inside the front doors. I was talking to my Freshman year science teacher during my visit, and commented about being able to walk through the halls so easy. He agreed that the size of the student body had drastically decreased since 1998. Kinda sad in a way.

Hey everybody! Good to see the response! I am late coming on the pc today. Been out and about as had lots to do. I also changed my Dish network channels today. Been having Showtime on there and the movies and comedy shows are just getting a bit too risque and vulgar or they show the same movies over and over forever. Really wanted to change to Starz, but they had a package deal for Top 120 stations, HBO and Cinemax, so I went with that. That should give us plenty of current movies and hubby plenty of sports too.

Rindy I heard about that shooting. Really awful isn't it? School sure isn't anything like it was when I was attending and that was bad enough! The worst we had was big gang fights after school. That was always awful to see someone get the pulp beat out of them. Now they knife and shoot each other!

Hey! Padraig! How are you doing? Sorry to hear about things with your family right now. That can really cause a family crisis as I am sure some here can relate to what you are going through. Hope things get better!

Hey Aaediwen! Sorry I missed you and Wiz in chat last night. I was only on here for a few to check on some things and then had to get off. We will try again. The weekends are better for me anyway.

Hey Annabelle! Good to see ya. Sorry things are not the best. We are planning a wedding in our family too this year. Just had one last year and that was a lot. However, if you are mother of the groom or bride, the work seems to never get done till it is over and then you pass out afterwards. biggrin.gif

Are you going to either of the Culloden or Savannah games? I think gwenlee is going to be at the Culloden games and I know Clann An Drumma is supposed to be there on Sunday only. I am still trying to verify that one. Although I hear the Savannah games are much better. Have you been to those?

Well chat with you all later. Hope you all are having a good day!

I'm not certain how I did it but managed to get CR! Perhaps it's got something to do with all the warm welcomes I've received.... thank you so very much!

I'm getting ready to head back to AZ tomorrow with a load... hopefully I can have the house almost cleared by the time my daughter-in-law & grandsons are ready to join my son in Tucson (August) & work on getting the house sold. I only hope I'm able to access CR while in SV.... I miss having music at my dad's.

Thank you again to all who've made me feel quite welcome!

Hey Dundee! Well I asked where I should post this thread so it was suggested in here as we will be discussing all kinds of things amongst one another, getting to know each other better as I had intended! sometimes the other threads tend to get off topic because we get to chatting and I thought maybe this would help remedy that. We'll see how it works out. so far so good though!

I have clicked on your pic before and seen ya in action. That is how I knew you played music and you look like a Renaissance fella! I have photographed a few of you Renaissance festival musicians many times. But I missed the festival again this year...boo hoo. Between sports and rain, we never made it. Oh well, next year.

Posted by: CoyoteMoon 22-Mar-2005, 04:51 PM
CelticRose: On one of my return ventures I heard of a Renaissance festival in AZ somewhere but the radio ad never said where. Could you enlighten this poor woman on the topic? The last one I went to was a wee one is Silver City & sorely miss the days of old in N. Calif. when they were held at Blackpoint.... my son grew up going & I would love to take his sons....

With gratitude,
CM

Hey CoyoteMoon! So nice to have you here! You are going to Tucson?! I live in an hour from there! Wow!

yes, there is a Renaissance Festival every year in Apache Junction. It is outside of Phoenix on the far east side. Way out there, but very big and beautiful! It is still going on till April 3rd, but unfortunately my next two weekends are filled up and I can't go! sad.gif But you can still go, hopefully!

Well hubby will be home in a few and I must get off. Nice chatting with you all!

Have a good night!

Hello CelticRose! Actually, my son is in Tucson going to UofA & my daughter-in-law & grandsons, who currently live at my home in Silver City, will be moving with him in August. I've been with my dad since my mom's passing in Sierra Vista, although we're looking for property at present where we can eventually move all onto. Thus far, he's quite enamored with Mescal, St. David, & Benson... more of the sleepy towns that are peaceful & quiet. I'll be heading back to his place tomorrow but don't know if I can talk him into the fair or not... Perhaps next year the whole clan can attend! Would love to make the kids' outfits for it!

Thanks again & chat soon!

But I will write MacFive to make sure and he can move it if he sees fit. smile.gif I just didn't want to leave people out like, dragonboy if he wanted to come in and chat with us.

Wizard! Was wondering how things were going with you and your family. You know you are always in my prayers. I thought the new school for your daughter was working out well. Is it not?

Coyote Moon! I have never been to Silver City, but I hear it is beautiful. I know some folks who live there. You would leave there for the AZ towns you mentioned? What is your son studying at the UofA.........GO WILDCATS! My hubby is an alumni there and I used to work there for many years. Great campus!

All is well here. I have had a very busy week and my server keeps going on and off today.........grrrrr! My husband has been battling skin cancer this past year. They have gotten it all, but he has that typical Scots/Irish skin where he is very susceptible. well another spot has come up in the last two weeks and doc is pretty sure it is malignant too........despite his use of sunscreen. So here we go again.

Love my new satellite dish programming with all the new and current movies I can watch now.

Also got to watch my fave band, U2, inducted into the Hall of Fame on VH1 (it was a repeat from Saturday night) and they were awesome! I am so happy I recorded it! They are the best band EVER!!!!!!!!

Awe the best !

Never a problem to me Rose! Just asking a question!

My mom died of melanoma cancer. She has Squamous cell carcinoma on her face. They went in and cut it out but it was too deep and turned into melanoma.
She died 2 years later and didn't even know she had it til the last 4 months.
I have to go to the Dr once a year with wet hair and the Dr checks me all over even thru my hair for anything suspicious.

Most of the places they have had to freeze off but have had a couple (like 5) cut off before. Ouch! Gee I'm saying that alot lately.

One of the "joys" of being Gaelic is having the typical Scots/Irish complexion that is so vulnerable to skin cancer. We sunburn ssoooooo easily and then in later years the damaged skin turns to cancer. sad.gif

I agree carolina. Burn way too easily. Fortunately for me there is a heavy cherokee and seminole precense on my dads side so i got a bit of a permanent tan and dont burn as easily as most. Mama on the other hand looks like a lobster after bein out in the sun.

CelticRose--It is, indeed, beautiful but nearly 7 years is enough for me. I have a condition which is adversely affected by cold so in winter I wind up looking like a lawn jockey when I try to check the mail! It's definitely on the rise so I'm hoping the sale of my home will be relatively swift, once we get to that point. My grandsons have been in my home since birth so I'd like to be close... I miss Mr. Boo & Nicy Pitt terribly! My son is studying classical archaeology (he grew up in a Native American art museum with my boss being an anthropologist) so it makes sense. He hopes to teach college while his wife hopes to attend CSI school in Tucson.

Back at 'ya Dundee!

My mom was quite the typical red-haired Irishwoman & almost lost her leg to melanoma when young. She showed them all, however, living through far worse to a ripe old age but she was constantly going in to have everything checked/frozen. I lucked out, taking after my paternal grandma (southern Spain) for skin, paternal grandpa on eyes (green).

Thanks again to all for the warm welcome & great place to be!

CoyoteMoon! Very interesting field for me that your son is studying in! I was very involved in the Native American powwows for 3-1/2 years traveling with the people who allowed me to sell my artwork of them at the various powwows and festivals. I loved it. Been attending powwows since I was 15 though. I love the culture. What is interesting is how similar they are to the Highland culture of Scotland. Hope you sell your house soon and get settled in your new place quickly.

hope everyone is doing well. I keep having server problems this week. Not sure what that is all about, but annoying to say the least.

Boy, if I had a dollar for every severe sunburn I ever had. The last one, a few years ago took place while fishing. In my total concern not to get burned I liberally applied sun screen to everywhere it was needed. Then I took my shoes off and dangled in the water. Wrong!!! My feet became so burnt that I couldn't wear shoes for a week!

My feet became so burnt that I couldn't wear shoes for a week!

laugh.gif laugh.gif Tao! That is pretty funny, sorry! rolleyes.gif

I lived close to the beach in southern California so I was always there burning myself up. They say this stuff just doesn't come on you like that, but it is years of sun exposure that usually creeps up on you. And, yes, early detection is the key!

So how is everyone today? It is nice out here with partly cloudy skies and very nice comfortable temps. We are going out of town tomorrow to spend with family for a birthday party. Just got done with all my computer maintenance for the week. You know, the ole running of the anti-spyware and anti-virus programs.

Hey Maggie! How ya doing? Hectic week, eh? Well hope you make up for it by having that great weekend you are planning.

Rindy, I hope you have a great trip next week. Will miss you being gone. Hope your dad is doing well. I bet he will be happy to see you girls. How far of a drive is it to visit him?

Padraig, more snow? Poor guy! That's why I live in the desert. I don't have to fool with that stuff anymore. Hope spring comes for you soon.

Well Happy Easter to all of you and a great weekend too.

Oh, oh! Mike! If you see this, my hubby found the portable Panasonic CD player on line and bought it for me! Woo hoo! Thank you so much for your help. beer_mug.gif

I wear SPF 45. I am allergic to the stuff the dermatologist recommends.

Annabelle! I am so sorry to hear about your mother.  I had no idea that squamous cell could turn into melanoma!  What a shock!  that is what both my sister and hubby have both had in the past two months is "squamous cell."

hi rm, shoot I think I must have missed it. DARN IT! But thanks Macfive for putting them on! They are my favorite as we all know..

Back to SUNSCREEN I NEED A ZILLION

I am so fair and I do not tan at all which is not good. I can remember the good old times sit in the sun and bake til blistered oh that hurts..

How scary this stuff is, but they say it is the most curable if caught early that is the key.

So lets forget the tanned beautys and love the milky white skins..

Slainte wink.gif

I agree Rindy! I'm one of those people that's so white, others have to wear their sunglasses around me! laugh.gif cool.gif Whenever they say something, I just look at em and say, "at least I won't be getting skin cancer later down the road". Of course, they say that you get most of your exposure in the first 18 years of your life. I can account for that! I got burned a couple times every year, so the damage is probably already done. unsure.gif

Anyway, I'm going back to bed now. I've manage to catch some kind of respiratory flu. I've spent the last 28 hours in bed. There's parts of my body that ache, that I didn't even know I had! sad.gif Unfortunately, I HAVE to go to work tonight because we're short handed... unsure.gif

CR, I have about 125 miles to go not to bad. Unless it is blizzarding. My Dad will be happy to see us girls. So will my other brother. I am just going to take it easy hopefully my sister won't be in a cleanning mood, she has all the time in the world to do things and the money to do it with. I go there to see my dad not clean his house all the time. I cleanned the last time I was there. I don't really mind but when I can only stay a few days it is for me also.

Well Rindy, have a really great time on your visit. I wouldn't want to clean house either while there. Hard to have a nice visit when you are doing all that.

Happy Easter!

Hi everybody. Gosh, CelticRose, this forum is a great idea. It sure was great reading all the posts from so many friends that I haven't been able to visit with lately.

Life is still crazy here. Now my dad has been in the hospital since a week ago Tuesday with pneumonia. The lung specialist is pessimistic about his recovery but today our family doctor told us not to give up yet. If he can get a bit stronger his odds are greater. It is now in the hands of our Lord. smile.gif Had my hubby to the doctor today...he has a bad case of bronchitis. sad.gif Good news tho.....my mom got a good report from her cardiologist. He says her nuclear stress test results were good and he doesn't have to see her for 6 months!!!! biggrin.gif

The sun was shining today...high in the low sixties. When I got home from the hospital I checked out my garden. Lots of perennials popping thru the ground. Wild daffodils in the fields for the last couple of weeks. Today I saw my first flowering shrub in bloom. I do believe spring is here!!!! Yippee!!!! tongue.gif

Hey Bluegrasslady! Good to see you! I am sorry to hear about your dad. He has really had a very hard time, hasn't he? And your hubby too! Wow! When it rains it pours, eh? Glad to hear that your mother's tests were good. Life sure has been full for you and your family. How are you doing through all this? Must be hard to try to be strong all the time. Take care of yourself too and keep in touch. Hugs!

Went out of town to family birthday party today, which was very nice. Hubby's mother is 90 years old today! We're all making plans to go off roading in the desert in a couple of weeks on quads so we can take some photos of the desert in full bloom. With all this rain we have had, it should be a beautiful spring here. Will be a great photo op for me too! Not looking forward to seeing any rattlesnakes though. unsure.gif

With my 22 pound current weight loss, family members could really tell and really remarked about how good I looked! Woo hoo! somebody could tell!

Weather is very windy and breezy here, but nice and sunny.

Hope everyone is doing well and will have a Happy Easter!

Spring has finally arrived!! clap.gif

Yesterday I was working outside and was totally unprepared for the weather. It was supposed to be around 56 degrees but never made it out of the 30s. Man was it cold...and wet!!

But today, the sun is shining and it is in the 60s now! toot.gif

Yep, Shadows! We are anticipating the desert to be really beautiful this year. Hubby's sister and fiance and I are all going off-roading in the desert in a couple weeks to hopefully get some good photos.

I had my party yesterday for about 20 people. It was so funny cause they all drove up here from an hour and a half drive and all arrived at the same time! laugh.gif laugh.gif It was really great. All our friends and family live that far away from us and more. We see family a lot, but unfortunately not our friends as often as we should and they have been close to us as family for more than 20 years. Really special to have friends that long and even longer.

Rindy, it was snowing the whole time on your trip?! Sheesh! Does it ever stop snowing there? biggrin.gif

What did everybody do this weekend?

Posted by: WizardofOwls 03-Apr-2005, 07:00 PM
Hiya Rosie!

We didn't do anything much this weekend. Went to get groceries Saturday and ate at the local Mexican restaurant (El Puerto... good stuff!) Then I had to work today... joy! sad.gif wink.gif

Just wanted to let you all know that my dad passed away on Wednesday, the 30th. Since his wishes were to be cremated, we had a small memorial service for the immediate family on Saturday here in Kentucky after the cremation. We will be taking his ashes to Michigan for interment sometime in the next few weeks. At that time, we will have another service for family and friends.

I want to thank everyone for the many prayers over the past few months. They were much appreciated.

Posted by: WizardofOwls 03-Apr-2005, 09:53 PM
Oh no! sad.gif Bless your heart! I'll be praying for you and for your family! You have my most heartfelt sympathy. I lost my dad back in '78 when I was a freshman in high school. We were not close, though.

Posted by: CoyoteMoon 03-Apr-2005, 10:35 PM
Many blessings to you & your family in this time of loss. Candles seem to be perpetually burning in my home these days & your father will have one.

CR: I drove to get my daughter-in-law on Thursday (to Silver City, NM & back) & the desert is alive with color! Carpets of goldpoppies are everywhere, lupine -- it was spectacular to see. You should be able to see some beautiful sights going off the beaten path, especially after such a wet winter. I cooked dinner on Friday for my son's 26th birthday. Between some pictures I had developed late (some with my mom) & the Pope's passing, reminding him of his grandmother, he had a few tears to shed. He recovered quickly this time & the day turned out great. Now if only the "right" property would turn up....

Hello everyone!

First of all, Bluegrasslady! I am so very very sorry about the loss of your dad. Your family has had such a difficult time. Thanks for letting us know. I hope you are ok. You all will be in my prayers. How is your husband doing?

Allen, we had Mexican food this weekend too! Lo Sombrero! Sorry you had to work. Will you get a day off this week then?

Hey, CoyoteMoon! So the desert where you were was really beautiful, eh? I bet cause you all get more rain than we do up here. Glad to hear about your son and his birthday. I hope you find some property soon. Hope you are doing well.

I am taking care of a sick hubby who has the crud. I hope I don't get it.......yuk. Other than that, all goes well. It was very windy here today.

Posted by: CoyoteMoon 05-Apr-2005, 10:06 AM
Hey CR! Hope hubby is feeling better soon. I thought I had something but am now thinking it must be allergies. I thought the northern part of the state got lots more rain than we did here... flooding in Cottonwood & Sedona. I'll take it, however, as it really is beautiful here. Haven't checked out any of the canyons yet as we were still quite cold at night as of a week ago. No luck on the property as of yet after talking with a half dozen different agents. I really don't understand the difficulty as I see new stuff going in where I like all the time! Guess you've got to know someone to get in on those, but I'll keep trying!

Best to all for a great week!

Hey there Rindy! I emailed you! wink.gif

Hey Coyotemoon! Property is hard to come by depending on where you look. Yes it is true that the northern part of the state got more rain that where I am. I am in Casa Grande, an hour between Phoenix and Tucson. Usually though, Tucson gets a lot more rain than we do where I live. We just had a party at my house this past Saturday for some of our friends in Tucson. It was really nice to see them all. Keep me posted on how things are going. Allergies are really bad here right now. Hubby is home sick again. He can't tell if they are allergies or a cold, but he feels miserable all over. Problem is is when he is home, I can't play my music as he doesn't like Celtic music. sad.gif Plus with him not feeling well he wants the silence. Oh well. Take care!

JP! 200 posts! Yippee! Good for you! I see you got your Irish crown!

Hey Allen! Hope you are doing well!

I should get off here and read. My brother loaned me the book, Converstations with God. It might be awhile before I get that read.
Since it is Tartan did you where your plaid?

Here it is almost bedtime again, is anyone else having a problem with the time change?

Sorry your husband is sick, Rose, and also that he doesn't like celtic music!! As I tell my husband....there's no accounting for taste!!! Hope he gets better soon, if for no other reason than that you'll get you music back!!LOL (oops....did I say that 'out loud'???) unsure.gif

Hello to everyone!

Hubby is still sick and at home, but I am playing Highlander radio anyway! biggrin.gif He is in bed asleep anyway! He has been going to work the past couple days, but coming home early as he is miserable with this cold he has. I don't know, it might really be allergies as the pollen count is very high here right now and something is bothering me too. I don't know if I am trying to get what he has or if it is just allergies. unsure.gif

Sonee, I am a big night owl. It is hard for me to go to sleep at night. Doggie woke me up again last night at 4 am to be fed! I am having to work on her on that one as I usually don't go to bed before 1 or 2 am myself! angel_not.gif

Hey Rindy! No, I didn't wear any tartan as I don't have one. What about you? Haven't received your picture yet. Go CLANN AN DRUMMA who are playing in NY for Tartan Day! Wish I could be there, don't you Rindy? angel_not.gif

Hope everyone is doing well and having good weather.

Hey Rindy! Hope you had a good day today. did you do anything special? We didn't. Didn't even go to church today. Just hanging around the house. Looking over some pics I have taken in the past to put in my shutterfly photo album. I have so many photographs it is disgusting, but I love to take pictures.

Did I tell you I ordered two more of Clann An Drumma CDs? I ordered Tried and True and Keep it Tribal. Can't wait to get them. I hope they come out with a DVD SOON.

We haven't seen or heard from gwenlee in a long time. I hope she is ok. I need to check on her.

Wonder where everybody else is in here?

Well have a good night. Talk to you later. Do you have a busy week planned? We have family coming up next Sunday so I will be working on the house again getting ready for them.

Hi dr, glad all is going well. Company again? You do entertain a lot huh? I have another girlfriend that loves to do that and she is good at it. I worked on my pictures all day also. I don't have that busy of a week. So far. You have a special day coming up on Wenesday huh? BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!!! I am going to start wishing you a Happy Birthday on the other forum starting tomorrow...

I know what you mean about taking pictures I love to do that to. Did you ever start scrapbooking? Mine kind of went by the wayside once I started the two forums. So did my reading. Although I am gonna turn in early so I can read awhile. Jamie is calling my name LOL laugh.gif
I am glad you got the two CD's. I like the Tried and True. I have had it for a long time. Tribal Waves I do like better as J say's its raw. Would be hard to do without back up stuff. You have that one don't you? Let me know what you think of Keep it Tribal. I ordered another shirt. I am washing and wearing the one I have so much thought I would get another. Plus it is a riot to wear around the tribes.. Hope it comes sooner than the last one. I think I ordered it in Nov and it came in March.. Long story. Let me know how soon you get yours. Post some of your fancy dancers and stuff on the forums..I wannna see..

Well got more catching up to do, Congrats Allen on your 3000 posts.

Hi to everyone else hope you had a great weekend and have a grand evening....

We do tend to have a lot in common Ròs!! I also love photography! I used to work at Sears Portait Studio! My kids are so used to pictures that they are my best subjects!!

BTW, I got your message from the other thread and here I am!! If I don't catch you tonight I hope you have a good one and a good day tomorrow!!

Posted by: CelticRose 10-Apr-2005, 10:23 PM
Hi Rindy! I don't normally entertain at all! In fact I hate it! LOL But there are three of us in Fred's family and myself having birthdays this week and we are all getting together to celebrate. Just turns out that our house is centrally located. The following weekend my girlfriend and her husband are coming up to celebrate my birthday as well! woo hoo! I have already started getting gifts, one of them an Amazon.com gc! I was thrilled to death about that as I have a wish list in there you wouldn't believe! LOL

I never did scrapbooking as I have no place to put all my photo albums. I put all my photos in these colored photo boxes and try to label them properly so I know where to find what.

I do have Tribal Waves and love it, but I wanted the other two as well as there are songs on there I really like as well.

I have a question. You said that you live on an Indian Reservation? How is it that you do? I know you have to be Native American to actually live on one. Are you or your hubby either one Native American or do you work on the Rez to do so? We have a lot of dealings with the Indians where I live. They call themselves Indians, so that is why I often call them that. Lord knows we have our share of Indian Casinos around here. You probably do too. Talk to you tomorrow!

I must go to bed to Nathaniel now! wink.gif laugh.gif

Hallo a charaid, Sonee!

Glad to see you here! Thanks for coming in. I thought we could share anything in here better and get to know each other better without taking over other topics, if you know what I mean. wink.gif

I love photography too. It was my major in college. I worked as an assistant to a photographer for a little while but quit that and pursued artwork instead. I also worked in the medical field for many years. I stay at home now. I have no children, just furry ones. biggrin.gif My husband owns a business here in town and we have been married for over 20 years. Funny thing is is that he is the one who got me started on this Celtic journey when he first brought home the Riverdance DVD. I was mesmorized by it and LOVED the music so much I bought the CD soundtrack. It went from there and I went crazy! Plus, a friend of mine went to Ireland to visit and told me all about her trip and that had an impact on me as well. Now I love bands like U2, Evanescense, The Corrs and other rock/pop groups, but I listen mostly to Celtic music. I listen to Highlander radio whenever I can. do you listen to it? I have bought a lot of Celtic CDs as result of the radio station here.

How did you find this site, btw? I worked at Sears too! ohmy.gif But in retail, not doing what you did! Wow! I bet that was really cool.

Do you have Highland games where you live? I know you said you can't attend any right now, but just wondering if you had them in your state. Were you born and raised in Nebraska? I hear that is beautiful and Native American territory too. I think they filmed "Dances with Wolves" there.

Well, I know how it feels to want adult company as all my friends and family live an hour or more from me, so I discovered the internet! LOL You will make many friends here. This is a great site and we all have a lot of common.

Oh, if you are wondering what Rindy and I are talking about certain men calling us to bed. It has to do with a couple of books we are reading! her leading character is named Jamie Fraser and mine is Nathaniel Bonner! Both Scotsmen, of course! Their historical romance books, specifically about Scotsmen. rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif Don't know if you are into that sort of thing.........I NEVER thought I would be...........but we talk about these books in The Book Stop forum, if you're interested!

Chat with you later! wink.gif

Feasgar math Ròs!!

I have always loved all things Celtic!! I have developed more of an obsession with it now though, on account of my genealogy work!! I listen to Highlander Radio every time I get online!! It doesn't matter what I'm doing while I'm on there I listen to it!! I listen so often that my daughter searched around the stations on her stereo until she found a station that was playing celtic music!! I'm not really sure what it is yet but it plays lots of similar music!! I just ordered a bunch of celtic CD's from BMG this week, all because of Highlander Radio and this forum!! I already have a few of the Corrs and Enya CD's, so these are artists I haven't heard!!

I don't work right now, and haven't for about 3 years! Now it's hard to find a job!! I enjoy staying home with my kids but that won't last for long. My daughter's already in school and my son with be starting in a few years.

I found this site because I was searching online for the sheet music to Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath for my fiddle. This site was on the search list and I thought I'd just check it out!! I'm really glad I did!! Yes, it was a blast working for the studio!! I basically managed it after the other manager quit. Then they decided they needed to hire and actual manager and didn't even give me the time of day!! So I left!! But I do miss it!!

I've never really checked to see if they have Highlander games here!! I'll have to do that! Yes, I was born and raised here. I've never lived in any other state! Although I am seriously thinking of changing that!! I don't think it's overly beautiful!! The sandhills a pretty cool though! But the rest of the state is just cornfields!! Pretty boring! I believe they did film that here, or parts of it anyway. I don't really know!

Books are actually one of my great passions!! I will read anything I can get my hands on!! I love most romances!! I'm partial to Romantic Suspense!! A really good who dunit with some romance thrown in!! Historicals are also just as good! I love history!!(one of the few classes I passed when I tried college!!) I haven't read any lately though. I looked in on the thread about historical romances and might have to try a few of them!! I've gotten on an Elizabeth Lowell and J.D. Robb kick lately!!! I'll tell you, it certainly makes my dreams more enjoyable!!! biggrin.gif

I think we'll get along just fine!!! I have found so many interesting and wonderful people here I don't know how I got along without you all!!

I'll catch up with you later! Have a good night!!!

So sorry I've not been around but have been searching for that elusive property. CR, we really like the Mescal area, close to Tucson yet far enough out. I know it's out there but I don't think agents make enough on bare land so they don't seem to enthusiastic about assisting.

If it's allergies, I have a couple suggestions: Buy local bee pollen & take that; it work rather like a "hair of the dog" & usually works pretty well. Also, allergy Zicam works pretty good. For colds, try the Zicam for colds at the very first sign; it helps lessen the severity. (I'm not blowing smoke here since I'm a hereditary herbalist.)

Hey jpm! Congrats on the 200! I personally don't have anything against the snowbirds, only lousy drivers! Being on the interstate a lot, I know which states have all the fruits, to be sure. The mother of a guy I went to school with (from grammar to high!!) spends her winters in Casa Grande. CR: A neighbor of my aunt's in CA just moved to CG!! I can hear "It's a Small World" right now!

Rindy: I've begun the gardening at my dad's, although it is currently more like ridding the dog run of his tumbleweed forest. The dianthus I began as seed over the past couple years is blooming & taking like crazy, filling the air with the fragrance of carnations. Lots to do to prepare the yards before selling.

No problem with DST here... AZ stays the same! Just gets confusing for the tv & calling family in other time zones....

Take care all & have a great week!

How was everyone's day today?

My day was pretty good.

I took the CTA Red Line train downtown to look for employment opportunities. I went to two of the big department stores. The Red Line is one of the two subway lines downtown, and one of the stops lets you off basically in the basement of Marshall Field's. I was going to apply there, but their computer application that handles the employment applications was on the blink. I waited for about half an hour before my patience ran out and I left. I had much better success at Carsons, where I filled out the application and they asked me a few questions.

Then, I went over to City Hall to check the job postings for the City of Chicago and Cook County (half of the building is City Hall; the other half is the County Building). They didn't have anything I was qualified for. The postings were mostly nurses for the hospitals owned by the county, engineers for the county highway department, and companions for seniors from the Chicago Department on Aging.

I then went to go get lunch from the McDonalds I normally go to when I'm down there, only to find out they moved one block south on me ohmy.gif ! How dare they biggrin.gif ! Anyway, I went to the new location and got lunch. It was such a nice day out this afternoon, I got my order to go and ate it outside in the courtyard of the building next door. I wasn't the only one, either biggrin.gif . Then I got back on the train and headed home.

Hi everyone. I feel like I've been away forever. Two weeks ago I was busy getting ready for the Tunnel Hill Celtic Festival. We went camping and about froze. Can you believe we had snow? It didn't stick though. We had a lot of rain and strong winds. On Saturday morning the fields were so water logged and it was so very cold with winds that got up to 40 mph that our leader made a decision not to set up. They had brought me a birthday cake (belated) so we went to the KOA game room and had hot tea and cake. Then for lunch we went to a bar-b-que place called Sticky Fingers in chattanooga, TN. There was snow flurries there too. But on Sunday my hunny and I went to the festival and really enjoyed the music and demos. Sunday was beautiful. The sky was clear and there was a gentle breeze. I came away from the day with a tan (doesn't take much thanks to my Cherokee ancestors.)
I had to work all the following week and get my taxes done and filed. I'm also trying to get a garden spot ready. I have to write an article for the Donnachaidh newsletter and get ready for the Culloden Games at the end of the month. This will be my first time hosting a tent by myself. I hope it goes well. On May 13th is an AGM for the Scottish Country Dancers along with a social Then later that month my family and I will be heading for Gatlinburg Tn for the games there, 2 weeks after that is the Blairsville Game. and a family reunion in the same week. I know I've missed something. wacko.gif So if you don't hear from me much in the next few week that is the reason, my calendar is full. But I'll try to check in with everyone and let everyone know how the games go. I hate it when I don't get to check in. I really enjoy talking to every one, and reading about what everyone is doing. I'm going to put the order in for my hunnys kilt this next week. He is so great even with his brothers teasing he said he would wear it for me (his family is Latino)

Hi Sonee, I see you have a Clan Lindsey Avatar so I have to ask--Got COW?? In case you don't know, seems like there has been some rivalry between Clan Lindsey and Clan Donnachaidh. You see we Donnachaidhs love the Lindsey cows. They have the best beef and knowing that the Donnachaidhs would "borrow" a cow or two. When ever we go to a game we make sure to stop by the Lindseys and sign the guest book and ask Got COW? and give a little moo.

I did not know that, gwenlee!! I guess I have been properly warned!! I will have to get my trusty bb gun and stop any of you rustlers out to get my cows!!! That is the most hilarious thing I have heard all day!! Thank you for the laugh!!! laugh.gif

Nice to meet you Sonee. I'm glad you found us. Everyone here is so nice and we have a lot of fun. Hopefully you can go to a Celtic festival or Highland game soon. They are so much fun. The music, dance, and athletic event and demos are great. Plus you make friends who share your same interest. In two weeks My family and I will be heading to Culloden, GA for the games there. It will be the first game of the season for me. I'm also a Scottish Country Dancer which is a lot of fun. Maybe you can check around for a group in your area if you are interested. The fees vary from place to place from free to just a couple of dollars per class. But it is a way to get into the games and festivals because when the group is invited to dance they get a pass to get in free. My daughter does it with me she is 14, but we have classes in the area that have kids as young as 5. I think the little ones are so very cute. Well I gotta go again it was nice meeting you--oh don't lose any sleep while protecting your cows, we Donnachaidhs raid when you least expect it, But if you get an invitation for a steak dinner from us then you know WE HAVE STRUCK AGAIN. LOL

I think learning Scottish Dance would be fascinating!! I am gonna have to check it out around here!! My kids would love it!

Well....as long as you invite me to partake in the steak dinner (it WAS my steak first, after all!!) then I guess that's okay!!!

ME?? Shoot my eye out?? I didn't say it was a Red Rider!! Besides, my name isn't Ralphie, so I might just be safe!! biggrin.gif

Wow! A lot to catch up on! This is great! Now where do I start?

Mike! Good to see ya! Trying to find a job is a real bummer isn't it? You were working for the transit system there, were you not? I can't remember. Well it sounds like you had a good day out and got some good ole MacDonald's! wonder if the meat came from Sonee's cows?! laugh.gif

Hey Gwenlee! So nice to see you again. I have been worried about you. had no idea you were so busy, but glad you are safe and sound and not sick. You have a lot on your plate right now with all the games and such. I bet you will have lots of fun. I hope you have good weather. I really want to try for the Gatlinburg games next year. Maybe drag Susan along with me so we can all meet! wink.gif That's assuming Clann An Drumma will be there again next year. Are you staying in a hotel there or camping? Do you camp at most of the games? Well have fun and don't work too hard.

Hey Coyotemoon! Good to hear from you. Mescal is a really pretty area. Like you say, the agents don't want to spend too much time on land. But the land prices have gone up so high here, it surprises me they still feel that way. I hope you find something soon. Thanks for your suggestion for hubby. He is feeling way better now. I am so relieved. That is a small world that someone you know has moved to Casa Grande! It is quite a growing community. I moved here 5 years ago and can't believe the growth in just these past few years. I hear we are even getting a shopping mall in the next year or two now! ohmy.gif I am not one for shopping but I do hope they have a good book store! You take care and keep us posted.

Hallo Sonee! Ciamar a tha thu? Great to hear so much about you. When one has been out of work for a few years, it is hard to get a job. I know, I have been there. I haven't worked in two years so it would probably be hard for me too, especially at my age. You most definitely have to check out the Highland games! I bet you would have a blast being around all those folks who love all things Celtic. Oh if you like romance books then you MUST MUST read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. The protagonist is a Scot named Jamie Fraser. The books (5 of them) start out in Scotland in 1743 and then they have to leave for the colonies. You learn a lot about Scottish Highland culture and the battles and then some American history too. But it is the characters, Jamie and Claire, you fall in love with. Anyway, check out the Diana Gabaldon thread in the Book Stop to learn more. Bummer about your photography studio doing that to you. Glad you can stay home with your kids. In the meantime, hang out with us too! biggrin.gif

Well hello to everyone else. JP! I know exactly where Mesa, AZ is. It is an hour from me. We don't hate snowbirds here, just the way they drive! biggrin.gif We actually like them to come here because it really helps our tourism and economy. Haven't heard from you in awhile. You must be out working.

hi to Allen too!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Yeah, I worked there about two weeks. They had to let me go because I stumbled near a third rail, which is what powers the trains. All third rails are active.

McDonalds isn't too bad pricewise for downtown. You could do a lot worse.

Another one of my favorite places to eat lunch at when I'm down there is, believe it or not, Marshall Field's. In the basement, they have their own food court. When I eat there, I usually get the fish & chips combo, which is about $6.50.

I've lived in Chicago my entire life.

I could probably tell you how to get around my city better using public transportation than I could via streets biggrin.gif .

Say you wanted to go from my house to one of the big local destinations, Navy Pier. I would tell you to walk to 95th Street, which is the main street in my area and a block from my home, and get on either the CTA Route 95W or Pace (our suburban bus system) Route 381 buses. Take either one as far as you can go, which is the 95th Street Red Line train station. Transfer there to the Red Line train. Take the Red Line train north (the only way you can go from 95th Street) to either Grand Avenue or Chicago Avenue. Both the #60 Grand Avenue and the #66 Chicago Avenue buses will take you to Navy Pier.

I know that because I've done it.

Posted by: CelticRose 12-Apr-2005, 02:55 PM
Mike, I have talked to a lot of people who live in the big cities who don't even own a car. They take public transportation all the time. However, we don't have that here. We HAVE to have a car or a bike! LOL Too hot to walk! I hear that Phoenix is going to build a rapid transit system in the next few years. They need it up there BAD despite all the freeways they have up there. Tucson, however, has the worst traffic ever! They only have one freeway and that is way on the west side of the town and mostly people use it to drive through Tucson! LOL

You have great food in Chicago, I hear. Somebody told me once why it was called "The Windy City" and it had nothing to do with being windy! I forgot what it was now. You'll have to remind me. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Sonee 12-Apr-2005, 08:43 PM
Hallo a h-uile duine!!

Nobody told me those Donnachaidhs worked at McDonald's too!!! When I said it was alright I only meant for you to share with us Lindsay's, not the whole world!!!*looks around searching frantically for the bb gun* LOL biggrin.gif

I don't think I could handle public transportation for very long. I like being in control too much to let someone else drive me around!!!

Feasgar math Ròs!! Tha mi gu math, tapadh leat. Ciamar a tha thu fhein? I would LOVE to check them out, unfortunately there aren't any around here. I checked this afternoon!! HaHaHa...believe it or not I just checked out part of the Diana Gabaldon series yesterday!! I looked in on the Book Stop and decided to see what she was all about!! I'm glad to stay home too, sort of!! I'd like to find something I can do from home, but no luck so far!!

I have not been here in a couple of days. I am just swamped with work!
Went to ceciliastar's hometown the other day. Didn't see her though.
I am back in the office but really busy writing reports and such.

btw way celticrose. I am now working in my second career field. My first was photography. I have a Bachelors Degree in it. Worked in that field about 7 years.
Actually I left it about 19 years ago.

Talk to you all tomorrow...

It was explained to us during the orientation that if we did anything around a third rail that posed a safety hazard, even if it was inadvertent (like stumbling), and there was a member of management around, we'd be fired. It is required by state law. I was right next to the shift Operations Chief when I stumbled.

Hello everyone trying to catch up on all these posts..
My day went very fast. I am still having trouble catching my hour of sleep back.
Celticrose, the deal with the reservation is there is many tracks that are privately owned. We do have a casino now and have another large one comming in. Yes we refer to them as Indians also.
Have a good evening..

Wow Mike, sorry you stumbled. I realize what a safety hazard the third rail is. I just did not realize the consequences a stumble could have, even when it is not intentional.
Good luck on your search for a new job.

Hello everyone! A Happy Birthday again to our Mike here! Hope you are having a good day. Mike are you doing anything special for your big day?

JP! Good to hear from you again. Was wondering where you have been. Work, eh? Well just quit that! laugh.gif You did photography for that many years?! ohmy.gif What area were you in? Our Sonee here did photography as well for a living! Gee! We have many photographers here. You all should post some of your photos in the photo forum in the Celtic Hearts. I want to see!

Rindy! Thanks for explaining that to me. Here you cannot live on the Rez unless you are Indian. We have all kinds of Casinos around here. But as long as it helps the Indians, but somehow I am not so sure the money is getting to the right people as I still see a lot of poverty when I drive through the reservations. sad.gif My husband does a lot of business on the reservations and he says they are his best customers.

Sonee! Hallo, a charaid! Tha thu cho snog! Tha gu math, tapadh leibh. It is really getting warm here now........whee! Not much happening on my end. Been working around the house and giving much needed dog baths. Then I worry about them going outside to play.........they love it so much. But there are scorpions and snakes I have worry about. Have already had one dog bit by a rattlesnake once and while he survived, he was pretty sick for awhile.

Can't remember if I told you all but I got word the other day that one of my friends from Scotland and his wife are coming to visit me in August. So we are pretty excited about that. He and I have talked on the net and on the phone for the last 3-4 years and I know his wife too who is German. She is a real sweetheart too. Anyway, neither one of them have ever been to the states and they are coming to stay with me and tour around. So we are working on plans even now. I forgot to tell them that that August is the hottest month in the desert though...........OUCH! We may have to rearrange that. Don't think they will take the heat too well.

Hello to gwenlee! Hope you are doing well and not working too hard.

Hello to everyone else too.

Hello everyone,

It was a good day. I managed to exercise in the morning and go to Tai Chi in the afternoon. Got a lot done.
Hey there Celticrose, hope all is well with you. What was your temperature today? Well outside.. I know what you mean about the poverty issue bad isn't it. I would like to know WHY? Lots of issues period.

Does anyone here know anything about a bush called a Burning Bush? I am thinking about planting one in the back yard.
Well about time for me to turn in its been a long day..Should rest tonight all the exercise I got. Thats if I can get up the stairs to get to bed, then I have to lay on the floor facing upward head to the west was it CR? LOL! I think I am too tired to turn my house...

Hello everyone!

Hope you all had a good day today. I was grumpy today, but other than that I was fine. laugh.gif Got a lot done. My housework done and laundry. Also received in the mail today two birthday gifts so that improved my mood! LOL I went to bed really late last night and probably why I am grumpy today. Other than that all is well.

Rindy it is in the 90s here today. Supposed to cool down a wee bit to the 80s in the next few days only to go back up to the 90s.

yes, a lot of issues about the Indian reservations. I don't understand it all anymore as I am out of the circle now. Do you have a lot of powwows where you live? We have a few, but they are not as good as they used to be. Seems like no one here wants to wear their traditional dress like they used to. Very disappointed in the last powwow I went to.

Well hope everyone has a good weekend. Any special plans?

Hi everyone,

Today was a strange day for me in every sense. Haven't had one of these so called off days for quite some time.. Thank goodness I don't know what I would do.

Hi CelticRose, hot there huh? It froze the blossoms on the cherry tree darn it. You aren't kidding there are powwows. They seem to only wear their uniforms when it is a powwow though. Other wise its t-shirts and blue jeans. Me t-shirt and black jeans..
Well I am tired so I am heading for the bed. You all have a great evening, those of you who can stay up, unlike me.

I planted three burning bushes last fall here in Kentucky and all three are doing nicely this spring. I also had them in Michigan and they were easy to care for. Just a little trimming once in a while. Good luck.

Hi there ladies! Hope you are having a good weekend. Mine is quiet today. Tomorrow I party! I got a new portable CD player for my birthday and it is really cool. Now I can listen to all my CDs when I am on the computer and it won't disturb hubby or I can listen to my music when we are in the car as hubby likes it quiet and no music when we are traveling. Wow! I can hear things in my CDs better this way too with the headphones on! Thanks to Mike here who helped me pick out the one to get! wink.gif

It was a really odd day for me yesterday too. Glad that day was over! Wonder why that was for us yesterday, Rindy?

Bluegrasslady....how are you doing? What is new with you? How is hubby?

Here it seems the Indians don't want to wear their regalia at powwows and parades as much now. The younger generation just want to wear their T-shirts and jeans. Sad to me that the younger generation doesn't take more interest in their culture and want to carry on their traditions.

It is pretty warm here and suppose I should let one my dogs in who is out there going crazy barking at the fence. I am afraid she will get heat stroke, but she was dying to go outside and act crazy! rolleyes.gif

Glad you got some things accomplished. I have been doing various things around the house, but not much. Gotta feed the dogs now.

Greetings all! Still no luck on the property but I've finally cleared out the tumbleweed forest!!! I've managed to scrape to dirt about 1/4 of the dogrun & plant some yuccas & bird of paradise that I started from seed. Heading home to NM tomorrow, return on Thursday... promises to be a hot trip, I think. Hoping to gather some pomegranite sprouts that were left when I moved the main one to my folks' place almost 2 years ago (got more than 40 off it last year!!), just because they make a beautiful, albeit prickly, fence.

A bit of a scare here awhile back. My dad & I were talking in the living room (dark outside) when all of a sudden it looked like Independence Day out back! Helicopters, people running, police searching the yards. Next day I find the side fence broken down & a backpack under a bush out front. Guess the Border Patrol was after a group that stole a car (total of 9 packs found). I worry about my dad when I leave as he doesn't hear well. Now I've got to see if the insurance will pick up any for replacing the broken fence. One more thing to add to that ever-growing list.

If anyone here is a nurse or familiar with hospital procedures, I have some "issues" I would love to get some feedback on. I didn't want to post onto the Shiavo board since there are some definite differences but it's kind of along those lines.

Hope all have a great week!

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone is having a good day today. Here it is night again. Man life is flying by. Celticrose how was your day? I didn't see you much. How is your weight losing going? I did manage to get to Tai Chi today. I am still trying to find out about the fire. Seems noone knows which makes me suspicious.
Now they are calling for rain and snow.. I hope!

Hang in there Coyote Moon! I would think the citys insurance would pay for the breakage, but it would proabably not be worth the hassle. Things can get a bit broken..

Well just checking the forums got dishes to do yet.. ICK...
Well all of you have a great evening..

Hi all,
What a beautiful day today. Sunny and 80 degrees. All of the flowering trees are filled with color and everything is so green. I love it! Makes my heart glad to be alive!

This morning my daughter and I took her husband to Berea (90 minute drive) to catch a greyhound bus headed to Indianapolis. He has changed companies and had to go there for orientation and to get his new company truck. Since daughter broke two bones and fractured another couple bones in her right foot on Friday (She was running bases at her daughter's softball practice and, well,... you can imagine!!! wink.gif Since she cannot drive with the huge walking cast, I had to play chauffeur. We took the back roads home and stopped along the way at several antique/collectible/junk shoppes!! Lots of fun!! Arrived home just as the kids got home from school.

Hi Celtic Rose,
The doctors still can't find out what is causing all the joint pain for hubby and he is getting discouraged. Wednesday he is scheduled for a CT scan of his lungs, then he will be seeing a lung specialist. Both the cardiologist and the arthritis specialist feel that much of the problems could be caused by his lung problems. Can't quite figure out how it can all tie in, but then the body is pretty amazing. I'm still hopeful that someone will soon beable to help. Thanks for asking.

Hi Rindy and CoyoteMoon,
Has Gabby been missing from the forums? Hope all is well with her. I have been trying to catch up with everything that has been going on here on CR, but it's going to take awhile.

Everyone take care!

Hello everyone!

Sorry to hear about your daughters foot. OUCH. I saw Gabby not to long ago. I think it was on the birthday forum.

Was a good day today even though it was snowing. I was really upset. I have arthritis in my back and have been using Orudis KT, which used to be a prescription, well I have been using it, had to ask for it behind the counter, went to get it today, they have pulled it off the market. I asked the pharmacist what they recommend, well it is prescription again. What a racket...Guess I will just hurt makes me angry..
Thanks for letting me vent...

Well time to turn in again.

Hello everyone! Sorry I am so behind in my posting! I do better on the weekends for some reason. During the week there are too many things to distract me. All is well here. we are pretty warm outside so I have to get out in the morning early and pulling weeds right now......ugh!

Hey Rindy! How are you doing? I have arthritis in my back too but hate to take drugs for the very reason you stated about pulling them off the market. Scary to me. The most I take is Tylenol 500 mg and that doesn't work, but better than nothing. When I get real bad I have to lay down and that relieves the pain a lot. Does doing the Tai chi help with your back? Too bad they still don't know about the fires where you are. We are approaching fire season here now.

Hey Coyotemoon! Good to hear from you! Sorry you haven't found property yet, but the right place will come. So sorry about your dad too. Tucson has a real problem with illegal aliens as well. did you hear about our cops here catching the couple with all the alligators in their trailer? That was just outside of where I live. Freaky, eh? It scared the crud out of the cop when he opened the door and saw all of them! I am not a nurse, CM, but have worked in the medical field as a transcriber for 30 years. I know there are nurses on this site that may be able to answer your questions if they so choose. I hope all is well with you.

Bluegrasslady! Great to hear from you. I am sorry your hubby is suffering so. I wish there was something they could do for him. I hope the additional tests will reveal something. You and your family have been through so much. Keep us posted.

Haven't seen JP in awhile. Wonder how he is doing?

Mike, if you see this, did you get your new CD player yet? Or your old one back with Metalica CD in it? How was your birthday celebration?

Y'all take care!

Hey everyone! Just got back from Lexington, Kentucky a little while ago. I have been pretty busy with work this week: its been keeping me off CR.net too.
Just love Lexington! I really like the bluegrass area of Ky. Wouldn't mind living there.
Visited a place called O'Neills Pub. Wow! What a disapointment! They did not even play celtic music there! Next time I am down there (in June) I plan to visit the Horse and Barrell. It promises to be an authentic British pub. We'll see!!!
It is raining here. We really needed it bad. The farmers have been planting alot lately. I am sure they appreciate it.

Talk to ya soon!

Hey JP! Good to hear from you! I have never been to Kentucky, but hear it is beautiful there. My hubby's mother and family are from there. Glad you are doing well. Hope you have a good and relaxing weekend.

Hello everyone! Hope all of you had a wonderful day. Mine was pretty good.

Hi CR, yes Tai Chi helps my back and my knees. I would recommend it to any age. I am a firm believer in mind body connection. At least you do have the warm weather. The news said the fire was still under investigation not good..

Got to finish checking the forums, hope to be around this weekend a bit. I want to get some scrapbooking done..

Have a good evening everyone.

Hi All,

Lots of company this week. Hubby's sister and spouse arrived on Thursday, then some old friends of my mom's arrived on Friday. They are all heading home from visits to Florida. Not sure how long they will be here with us. Always nice to have people visit but sometimes it is so exhausting. smile.gif

Weather has not been too pleasant the past couple of days here in the bluegrass. Heavy rains and chance of frost!! Can you believe it? Had to cover all the plants to protect them. The ones that I hadn't planted yet are in the laundry room. 70's and 80's the past two weeks and then when company comes it turns nasty!! Oh well, tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and maybe reach 60. Shouldn't complain, I guess. All of our company is from Michigan and they have had snow this weekend!! sad.gif

Hope everyone is doing fine.

Hey there everyone!

Been a very busy day for me too. I went to church and then had friends up for lunch and spent the day with us. Then worked in the yard a little and took a nap. Played on here for a wee bit and had to get off to watch one of my favorite TV shows. Weather here has been cool and breezy and threatening to rain but never did. Got some new books to read today so I am excited about that.

Bluegrasslady, it is exhausting having company. I took a spiritual gift class once and I scored very low on hospitality! laugh.gif It is something that I am just not good at and really don't enjoy it to be honest with you. I like my privacy in my own home too much I guess. I am having guests come stay in my home this summer and as much as I am looking forward to seeing them, I am dreading the stress of what and how to feed and entertain them while here. unsure.gif Most folks I am talking to are having snow too, BGL. I just can't imagine. I am lucky to be living in the dry desert!

Hey Rindy! Glad to hear the Tai Chi helps your back. I have never done that. I used to do yoga religiously and then switched to pilates. I work on an exercise ball now. That really helps. Hope you have had a good weekend and will have a good week.

Night everyone.

Hello all!
Well I wish I could say I am having a good day, but not really.
My oldest son is coming home from college at the end of this week. A few months back he and a friend applied for summer jobs, as groundskeepers at a local golf course. I asked - no pleaded - with him to make a follow-up phone call, especially when they posted a sign, asking for applicants.
But would he do it? Of course not - he could not be bothered!
So today I made the call for him. You guessed it! They hired their staff for the summer and he is not one of them!

I am so ticked at him right now. But mom is going to be furious! She is so worried that he will not find a job. Then he may not be returning to school in the fall.

Sorry buddy. You may learned a very hard lesson here.

Hello everyone,

Its been a very emotional day for a very dear friend of mine and myself. It made me realize that I will always call this place home. I can always come here and feel good again.
You are all very dear to me and I am very thankful you are in my lifes..
This is truly a good place!!!

Bless all of you,
Mary

JP, hang in there. You can love him but it doesn't mean you have to love his actions... It will get better in time..I learned a very good lesson today also.

Whoo Hoo!! toot.gif

Just got a new CPU at work today. Now with a couple of clicks, I am listening to Highlander radio! Before, I had to wait up to five minutes for it to load.

Have to turn the volume down though - kinda loud (sorry, bagpipes are not real conducive to a work environment)

Sweet!

crybaby.gif Yeah we had a snow storm for two days! I was so mad.

As they say here, if you don't like Michigan's weather, wait a day. How true. Last two weeks, beautiful. It felt like spring was here, warm sun, green grass. And out of nowhere, a snow storm. And now two days later the snow is melted, the sun was out and yesterday was nice out. It's been raining here all day today, but it's better than snow.

My uncle's father passed away last night, so I have been making phone calls and helping out with preperations for his funeral this Friday. Tomorrow I will probably doing the same, running dinner for them and helping out with the flowers, ect. He was such a sweet man. I won't be able to go to the funeral on Friday, watching my cousin's children so they can go, but I will be going to his showing on Thursday.

I hope everyone's week goes a little bit better smile.gif

Hi everyone,

Our company left for Michigan today...hope they don't run into any trouble. It has been raining all day. Definitely a lazy kind of day. After having company I am usually ready for a do nothing day.

Emerald-eyewanderer....so sorry about your uncle. I can tell you from recent experience that the help you will be rendering will be so appreciated. It is so thoughtful of you!! smile.gif

Rindy....I am sorry that you are having a rough day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for you.

Rose....I agree with you. I like to think that I enjoy all that comes with having company but, honestly, sometimes it is just so much effort. If I didn't stress out so much beforehand: cleaning, planning meals and things to do, I probably wouldn't be so relieved when it is back to just hubby and myself.
wink.gif

JP...Glad to hear about your new CPU. Some bagpipe music would certainly liven things up at work!!
Also wanted to add my encouragement to you and your wife. Been there. I've lost count of the times I have told my two kids that even tho I loved them, I didn't like their choices. You are right about life being the best teacher. Good luck!!
smile.gif

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Thanks Bluegrass Lady you are sweet.

Jpmoore, I am glad you can listen to Highlander at work.
The pipes are always on in my house..

Wizard went and found me on another forum and told me about CelticRose bless him. He is a wonderful man..

The pipes are always on in my house..
Emerald I know what you mean snow NO MORE....
. It is suppose to be nasty weather the next few days. I could stand rain but the snow is suppose to be over...Well its almost time to turn in for the night.

Everybody have a good night!

Wizard how did your court deal go? Been thinking about you today wondering if you said it was today or tomorrow.. My, old age.

I woke up to snow, been snowing all day suppose to get six more inches tomorrow. I am tired of Christmas...LOL should of left the lights up..

Hi everyone. I've been gone this past week because my mother-in-law passed away. It has been an exhausting week. I'm glad it is over for many reasons the main one is she is now at peace with no more pain.

I'm heading to Culloden for the weekend for the games. It will be nice to relax.

Rindy, how much snow did you get? We had some cold weather the first weekend of this month with snow flurries here in Georgia. This weekend we are suppose to have scattered thunderstorms but overall it suppose to be nice.

I hope everyone is doing well.

I'm so sorry, gwenlee, for your loss. I know from recent experience how exhausting it all is. My dear dad passed on March 30th. It doesn't seem possible that he is gone. Now I am focusing on helping my mom get through it.
Hope you enjoy the games this weekend. It is exactly what you need...get out and enjoy life. Let the music help to heal your soul. smile.gif

Rindy...how are you doing today? Hope things are going better for you. smile.gif What a darling picture. I have never seen an albino moose.

JP...I don't blame you a bit. I hope your son will receive some offers from your help. One thing that I have learned is that it doens't matter how old your kids are (mine are 33 and 29 years old) we parents always want to help. wink.gif

Wizard....I have been thinking of you today as you face the court system. Hope all works out. Please let us know. We care! smile.gif

Hope everyone is enjoying their day. We have a mixture of clouds and sun. Still cool, in the low 60's. Better than a few ays ago.

I was once told, by a celticradio member...it's very much ok to cry. You've made me cry. It's very rare anyone remembers about me, and even...misses me! I got a message from Rindy, and my Jaw dropped when she mentioned someone asking about me.

I don't want to bother anyone with my life's status, but insted if anyone's interested...let them know about my grandfather?

He's gained 2 pounds with the assistance of Nurses at his home, and gets his medication, and regular bathes under their guidance. It's a god-send. He's even thinking about fishing! I know your prayers and love you sent to my family and me helped...I know it!

Gosh, I can't tell you how touched I am right now, thank you so much j Padraig moore, thank you.

Please send me some emails? I'm not able to come on the site very much anymore because my life is so busy, and I wasn't getting along that well with the site moderator *hides* so I figured I'd lay low for abit. I never thought I would be missed in the process!

FRESH TEARS. Wow. Rindy, and everyone....I can't beleive by chance that I just suddenly stumbled on a group so nice as everyone here. Your such a great family, such a great freinds, and...gosh.

I still get picked on, but I'm concentrating on my scouting which I enjoy. I'm going to be staffing at a leadership camp, to train leaders! *feels proud* Only like.....40 or so more days of school left for me, so I figure I can endure the torture of it alittle longer.

Hello everyone!

OUR GOD IS SO GOOD! Everything went really well for us at court today. No fines or punishments were levied against us. We didn't even have to pay any court costs or lawyer fees. Our lawyer did it for free! We do however have to make sure that she has no more absences or tardies for the rest of the year. Our lawyer wasn't real happy about that decision and wants to fight it, but we haven't made up our minds about it yet. The judge even told us that we may be able to get her a homebound teacher so that she won't ahve to go to school next year. Not sure how I feel about that though. She needs the social skills that a classroom environment teaches as well as friends. Anyway, thank you so much, everyone, for your thoughts and prayers!

Emmy and Gwenlee - I am so sorry to hear about your losses! Just remember that God loves you and that we love you guys too! If you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you!

Dragonboy - I can't BELIEVE that you wrote this - "I never thought I would be missed in the process!" Of COURSE you are missed! I've been wondering where you've been myself! We are a family here, and when somebody goes missing we all get worried! I know that you have been going through some problems lately, and I just thought that maybe you were just wanting some space for a while. If you had stayed way much longer you would've gotten an e-mail from me too! Now that you're back don't stay away so long next time, okay! You ARE my lil bro, and I DO worry! That's what big bros are for! smile.gif

Oh and in response to this: "Wizard, Big bro...I'm sorry I haven't been talking to you. Did you receive my Yellow and Brown snowballs?" I had the mailman stamp it "Return to Sender" so you should be receiving it in a day or two. And by the way, I let it melt a little before I sent it! smile.gif

Hello everyone,

Gwenlee, I am so sorry to hear of you mother-in-laws passing. I know what you mean about the peace and no pain. I was thinking that just last night how my Mom and Brother looked so at peace.. You have fun at the games and get some pictures... Glad your going...Oh and to answer your question about the snow we had over 12" this morning, its melting but we still have a weather advisory tonight eeeewwwwww.

BGL- Thanks on the picture. I have never seen one either. I thought they looked so different. Moose are usually almost black.. I hope you have a great evening.

Wizard I am so happy everything went your way today. School is almost over hopefully she will keep healthy and hang in there. Thanks for all your hard work on the Gaelic.

Dragonboy, I know how it feels to be picked on, I just had a really bad day a couple of days ago and I mean they beat me good. People will say awful things but ya just got to say hey let them, hold your head high and keep living. People that do these types of things aren't wasting their time and energy worring about how we feel. We are wasting our time worring about it.
I am so glad your grandpa is better..
Now you keep in touch ok...

Rose-I miss you!!!!

Nice to see everyone. I will hush up and start reading the forums..

Hi everyone,

Well, here it is almost 11PM. Thought I would check in for awhile before I call it a night. Our son and wife are out celebrating 11 years of marriage, so we have two little ones with us tonight. They love to play GOLF, a card game that we play quite a bit. Any age can play it, (they are 5 and 9 years old) and all 5 grandkids want to play it when they come over. They will be up bright and early, wanting sausage and waffles, so I plan on making it an early night.

Wizard....what wonderful news. I've been thinking about you so much. Just a thought about next years schooling for your daughter....if you do have a homebound teacher, your daughter can still interact with other kids on many different levels. My niece homeschooled her daughter for a couple of years and there are group activities for homeschooled children. I can find out more for you if you are interested. Then there is also girlscouts and church activities to name a couple. Perhaps, if you did this for a year or two, your daughter would then be ready to go back into the school system. I'm sure that you will make the right decision when the time comes. I have faith in you!! biggrin.gif

Dragonboy.....so nice to hear from you. So happy that your grandfather is recovering. Talking about fishing is a good sign. Scouting is a fine activity to be involved in. Being a staff member at a leadership camp sounds very interesting. It's obvious to me that there are people out there who realize your worth. Now you just need to realize your worth too!! smile.gif

JP....hope you are home safe and sound after picking up your son. Hopefully something will come up soon for him this summer. That would make everyone happy all around!! tongue.gif

Rindy.....12 inches of snow?!? WOW! I only thought Alaska got that much snow this late in the season!! Hope it soon melts and warm weather arrives quickly! Back in 1998 we took a 3 month trip to Alaska and on the way home we traveled through the Canadian Rockies. Couldn't believe the amount of moose that we saw there. In 1988 our daughter flew out to meet her grandparents and they camped at Yellowstone Nat'l Park. One morning she was sitting on the picnic table and a moose came right up to her. She didn't realize it was behind her until my mom called to her from the camper. She says that it one of her favorite memories. biggrin.gif

Aaediwen.....hope you eventually got a good nights sleep. I woke during the night to a thunderstorm. Wonder if it reached your part of Kentucky.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Hey everyone! So good to see and talk to each and everyone of you and hear of what's going on in your lives.

Gwenlee, I am so very sorry to hear of your mother-in-laws passing. Hugs from me. Hope you have a great time in Culloden. I talked to Siobhan Blues on the phone this week and wished I had remembered to tell her to go up to Culloden to meet you.

JP, sorry to hear about your son, but it sounds like you are giving him some tough love. Glad you get to listen to Highlander radio now!

Allen! Great news! I am so glad of the outcome. I know a lot of kids that are home schooled and they do very well and get socialized. Keep us posted on her, will you?

Dragonboy! What are you saying that nobody would miss you? One of the reasons I started this thread in the discussion forum here was so that you could be part of us. At the time some of the other forums were closed to passwords only, but I think that has changed now. Anyway, I am very happy to hear from you and what is going on in your life. My nephew got picked on in school a lot too and got into fights. He HATED school but got through it and finally graduated last year and is doing great and making lots of money now on a job he loves. Keep us posted on you and your grandda.

Rindy, my friend! Wow! What a Monday we had, eh? That was one of the worst days I think. Then when my monitor blew out right in the middle of it all, I nearly died! I was beside myself! I thought what the heck do I do now? Didn't sleep too well this week either until I was able to hear from you again. Many thanks to you and Allen for letting everyone know where I was and why. Stupid computers! Can't live with them or without them. rolleyes.gif

Hey Dreamer and BGL! Great to hear from you and know what you all are up to.

Elly! My buddy Elly! Can't believe you are in here and found us! I was so excited to see your name and post! If I had had your number in Oz this week, I would have called you! Hope you and Krystal are doing well and the wee ones too.

Aaediwen! Good to see ya. Where is the gathering in 2008? I forgot. It would be a good idea to invite some bands, wouldn't it?

Hello to everyone else! Talk to you soon.

Hello everyone!

Its been another fantastic day for me. I am healthy and happy.. The weather was at least sunny.

Celtic Rose, I bet that does help your back. Nothing like back pain. Mine is no way near what you have..

I did that big ball and it is harder than it looks.. Well got a lot of reading to do here as when the site was doing strange things I stayed away.
So everyone have a wonderful Saturday evening or what is left of it..

Thank you BluegrassLady. The service went well and the weather was really nice, so that's all I could ask for.

I hope you had a nice weekend smile.gif

Hey Allen, sorry, just read this. I'm very glad to hear about this. I hope it works itself out biggrin.gif I really do.

Thank you for your thoughts and the same goes to you, if you ever need to talk!

Hey Rindy! Yeah, the site was really strange today wasn't it? I wonder what the problem was?

Yeah, the ball really helps, but it scares me too. I am always afraid the thing is going to pop when I am on it! laugh.gif

Hey Emeraldeye! I am so sorry about your uncle and I am very sorry that I forgot to say so to you last night when I was on here. I hope you and your family are doing well.

Aw... thank you Rose. No worries. I know I don't see things on here sometimes and it takes me a day or two to get back to them ^ as evident by my last two posts. Everything went nicely smile.gif Thanks for your kind words.

Posted by: CelticRose 30-Apr-2005, 10:19 PM
Glad to hear it Emerald. Gosh! I miss things all the time. I was up till 1:30 last night trying to play catch up in here as I was so behind in my posts after being gone a week. How are you doing otherwise? Are you just going to take it easy the rest of the weekend? Sorry, I don't really know much about you and would like to. May I ask if you work or attend school?

Posted by: emerald-eyedwanderer 01-May-2005, 10:47 AM
Sure! The same goes to you as well. I've been here over a year (a year April 23 ) now and I haven't really talked to too many people sad.gif But I hope to make some of the festivals that they go to.

Yeah some family from out of town where here and it was nice seeing them. We had a get-to-gether before they left, so it was nice.

I work for a doctor in a family practice. I mostly do paper work like insurance, billing, records, and work on other things like the phones and computers when it is busy. Every once in a while I get to work with the patients themselves and it's *usually* a good feeling. I hope to start working for a psychiatrist I know soon. He needs the help. I am moving three hours away in the fall to start school in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am really excited.

How about you? I've seen and loved your art work!

btw Happy Beltane/May Day everyone!

Posted by: CelticRose 01-May-2005, 04:00 PM
Hey Emerald! Thanks for answering! I worked in the medical field for many years myself, doing much like what you're doing and then went into medical transcription. I also worked in psychiatry for several years for a group of doctors. It is a very interesting field. I loved it but we moved to small town here in Arizona and hubby bought a locksmith company. So I get to stay home and take care of the home, bills, etc. I had been doing art shows for many years too, traveling and such. The plan for me when we moved up here is that I was going to continue to do that, but always having had a back problem, it became much worse to the point that I had to stop it all and stay close to home. Then the economy went bad and with it the art sales so I haven't really done any artwork in a couple of years now. I kind of lost the motivation to do it anymore. I have played around with a lot of photography though, which is my first love. I am not as good as folks on here, say like Old Raven, but I do enjoy it. When I am not doing the house chores, I read Scottish historical romance novels (hee hee), watch movies and play on the net. Studying Scots Gaelic and doing some geneaology as well.

That's a shame that you have been here so long and haven't really talked to anyone. Hope we can change that. Do you go to many Highland or Celtic festivals? We have three here in Arizona each year. I try to make two of them.

Glad you got to spend some time with family. What are your interests?

Well have a good day and talk more to you soon!

Hello to everyone else!

Finally got here. This last week was really a bad one. We have been really busy at work and Mon. we were 2 people short, Wed. 1 short, and 1 short on Fri. By Wed. afternoon I'd had enough. So I called a girlfriend and we both took off work Thurs. and went to Amarillo shopping. I did go in at 6:00 am, did everything in the back, then left at 9:00am. Had a mess when I got back to work on Fri., but it was worth it. When I did payroll Fri. I still had 41 hours. I need an easier job. Hubby and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary on Thurs.. This time last year we were in Las Vegas. Been lazy this weekend. Finished 3 Pawprints today. Have them sold. Need to get some more poured. I hope everyone else had a good day.

Hi Valpal! Thanks for coming by and chatting with us! I am hoping more will do so so we can all get to know each other better and share what's going on in our lives as well. Had a bad week, eh? I always say that shopping does the heart good! Good for you! did you get anything exciting? Finished Pawprints? May I ask what that is? Are you an artist? Have them sold already? How so exciting! That makes you feel good, doesn't it? I think I have been through Amarillo. Isn't that up north in Texas? What they call the Texas panhandle? I am not far from there in Arizona so I have been through Texas many times. do you ever go to any Celtic festivals where you are? Well I hope you have a much better week. Take care!

I have been shopping on line and bought a Runrig CD, the U2 Live in Slane Castle DVD concert and a book on Scotland that someone recommended to me. I had a gift certificate from Amazon.com and so that gave me a good excuse to shop! hee hee.

Y'all take care!

Posted by: valpal 59 01-May-2005, 07:55 PM
The shopping definately adjusted my attitude. I bought 4 capri outfits and a summer robe. Also a dog bowl and toy for our new addition we are waiting for. The pawprints are cement stepping stones that I am making to sell. Our school teams are the Lynx and Lynxettes. They use the pawprints for all of their signs. I am painting them the school colors, purple and white, and painting Lynx or Lynxettes on the toes and personalizing them on the pad if they want it. They are selling for $25.00.They are 15" big and 2" thick. I am just getting started. No, I am not an artist. Yes, Amarillo is in the Texas Panhandle. I live 90 miles NE of Amarillo. They started a Celtic Festival 2 years ago. It is held in October. I haven't been able to go because the weather was bad both times. cry.gif

Hi Everyone,
Can't sleep so I thought I would check out how everyone is doing.

valpal...Happy Anniversary. A relaxing weekend sounds nice to me. Last year you say that you spent your anniversary in LasVegas. Do you usually do something special to celebrate? My hubby and I have spent most of the past several anniversaries in Gatlinburg, TN. at a resort where we have a timeshare. Hubby and I will be celebrating our 35th anniversary May 23rd.

Rose....I thinkyou mentioned to me that you and your hubby have celebrated 20 years. Is that right? I bet that there are many others on this site who have had many married years together.

The way shopping uplifts a person must be a girl thing! At least it usually does the trick for me. And it doesn't always necessitate leaving the home...you did yours, Rose, online. Very convenient, isn't it?wink.gif

emerald-eyewanderer...I didn't realize that you were a Michigander. I lived in Michigan for 39 years. Lived in Lincoln Park, Taylor and Monroe. We used to own some property on the Muskegon River just 7 miles outside of Evert (near Clare). Been to the Renaissance Festival. It was great fun.

Well, I'm going to try to get some sleep. Talk to everyone tomorrow (or I guess that would be later today rolleyes.gif ) G'nite.

Good morning everyone!
An update on my life...so far.
Brought our son home from college friday. Glad to have him back, but there is an adjustment, for all of us. Mom is having a hard time with him around now. It is just that we have our own routines and we are not used to each other any more. It will work itself out in time. He does seem to have a line on a summer job now: doing construction work. He should find out this morning whether they need him or not.
Finally cut my grass for the first time saturday! Haven't had time until then!!
Talk to you all later.

Good day everyone!

Rose ~ You know, I really don't know of any Highland or Celtic festivals around here. I have two Renaissance festivals I know of. I have been going to those 6 or 7 years now. Interests, hmm.. I love art, history, I'm a big animal person, anything to do with Celtic/Irish/Scottish, books ~ I am in the process of making my own library wink.gif

Valpal ~ Happy Anniversary (well belated anniversary)!

BluegrassLady ~ Yeah, Port Huron is about 60 miles north of Detroit. I've been to all three places smile.gif That's really neat. Yeah the festival in Holly is the one I go to every year. I think it's beautiful there.

Well Happy 1 year and 9 days Anniversary of being on CR to you too, J Padraig Moore! lol laugh.gif

Everyone is just so nice! Actually, I went to visit my grandfather this Sunday. He's gotten worse, and not better. The test - kemo therapy he was going through didn't work. Theres nothing for the Doctors to do now. Were just watching him die.

He almost looks like a Zombie, and he can't talk above a whisper. sad.gif

Were just waiting intill the day he passes with his family, when he can go and walk with god. It's the only thing we can wait for now.

Oh, Adam, I am so sorry about your grandfather. Difficult times are ahead of you, my young friend, but know that you are in the prayers of many of us here at CR. I lost my dad a month ago. He had pneumonia and he was too weak to fight it off. We knew when his journey here on earth was coming to an end and we talked with him and told him how much he meant to us all. He then drifted off. It was very peaceful. Please talk with your grandfather....tell him of the special times you shared, etc. Even when it appears that he isn't responding, he can still hear you. Take advantage of the time you have left. It will help you later. If you feel the need to talk, I am here. God bless you, your grandfather and your entire family. heart.gif

Posted by: emerald-eyedwanderer 02-May-2005, 04:38 PM
Adam, I am truely sorry. I don't know what I would do if I thought I was losing my grandmother. Stay strong and know there are people on here you can talk to if you ever need it.

I'm sorry BluegrassLady, to hear about your father, too.

If there is anything I can do, let me know hug.gif

Posted by: WizardofOwls 02-May-2005, 05:07 PM
Hi Adam! I agree whole-heartedly with what Bluegrass Lady said. Talk to him as much as possible before he goes. Spend all the time you can with him. He needs you now to help make his last days as pleasant as possible, and being reminded of all the good times you two have shared together can only help him! My thoughts, heart and prayers are with you, lil bro! Hang in there, and remember, we love you! smile.gif

Howdy Adam,

Oh, I know what you are going through I lost my Mom like this..There is false hope a lot of that- my mom was in ICU for 40 days and the watching of her death is so painful ya feel so darn helpless. She couldn't talk and most of the time just layed there. Towards the end she was pretty much in a coma..
You know you don't want to see anyone you love die, but then again you want the suffering to be over.
If you need to talk email or PM me. Please..
Hang in there, my prayers are with you and your family. You must go on he would not want you to be sad...

Sincerely
Mary "rindy"

Hello to everyone!

First of all, dragonboy! I am so sorry to hear about the recent condition of your grandfather. Just before my mother died, my youngest sister was the only one who could be with her and she talked to her and helped her passing into the other life. My sis said she went peaceful and I believe it was because my sis was there to talk her through it and tell her how much we all loved and cared for her. You take care.

Valpal! I forgot to wish you a Happy Anniversary! Duh! Sorry. sad.gif Thanks for explaining the paw prints. That sounds fun and good money for you too! Sounds like you got some nice girl stuff to buy as well.

Emerald! I always love your avatar and title! I wish I had thought of that title! My title and sig comes from the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. You would have to read the books to understand. The Clan MacHoser is kind of a joke, really. But there are a group of us gals here in Arizona that do belong to it as we are DG fans! I used to hang out at the Renaissance festivals when I lived in California. I always had season tickets and would go every weekend! That was many years ago and now I do both the Renaissance and the Highland games!

Hey there BGL! Wizard, JP and everyone else. I am sorry to cut this short but hubby just came home from work and wants two things: dinner and the computer! Signing off for the night! See y'all!

Thanks Rose smile.gif

I have seen that book and planned on reading it one day. Right now I am on the third book of Elizabeth Haydon's Symphony of Ages. I'm in love with this series. It's almost as good as Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince series. That's my all time favorite.

Posted by: WizardofOwls 02-May-2005, 07:29 PM
Hey there Emmy! I read the Dragon Prince series too! Isn't it good!!!

Posted by: emerald-eyedwanderer 02-May-2005, 07:35 PM
Isn't it??! I'd have to say my favorite of the series was the second book... but it all runs together. I read it years ago. I usually use Sioned as part of my screen name for various things, like my AOL IM sn is Sionedx89, lol. I'm still waiting for her other series' last book to some out; The Exiles: Captal Tower. I also really liked Kate Elliott's Crown of Stars series.

Alright I could go on and on... lol

I see your in the chat room, Allen, but I'm on my way out sad.gif

Everyone have a good night!

Hey all,
Just checking in again.
Had a doctors appointment this morning. Got a couple of health issues that I am taking care of. Doc told me to lose some weight and my troubles will probably go away. He is right. He did say that I did not look bad - meaning that I did not seem obese or shall we say "fat" to him. Thanks for small favors huh Doc?
It does seem interesting though what a couple of extra pounds will do to us health-wise.
So, anyway. I will have to find some will power to get the extra pounds off. But boy, I sure do like to eat! chef.gif

Hi Siobhan! Good to hear from you.

Symphony of Ages? Or was it the Dragon Prince series? Well I think you meant Symphony of Ages, if not just tell me so, biggrin.gif

It's complicated like most of the Fantasy books are. It's about an interesting world where music is the key to life. Bascially it is about a girl; Rhapsody, a Namer. She meets her soul mate as a young girl but they only meet once then he disappears. She runs away from her home, a small village, to search for him. She ends up lost and in a big city and has to learn how to survive on her own. In doing so she is pursued by a shady character. The only way she could escape him was to join up with two men who seemed to be hunted as well. The story takes a weird turn from there as the three of them run from their pursuers and end up traveling to a world where their arrival has been prophesied.

I recommend it. It has everything, even dragons smile.gif

J Padraig Moore, good luck to ya! thumbs_up.gif

Hey SB! So glad to see ya in here! Pop in more often! biggrin.gif

Em, I have not heard of this book series. Sounds really interesting though and what I might want to add to my TBR list! Oh, I need to add another room to store all my books! rolleyes.gif Hope you are doing well!

JP! sorry about the news at the doctor! The same thing happened to me last December when I went for my yearly check up. I got told I had some issues that needed taken care of and one of them was my weight which should greatly improve the other issues. So I have been on a diet of just healthy eating and much smaller portions and tons of water. I have gladly lost 25 pounds since Christmas and lost 4 inches off the waist and hips too! So I can understand. If you need some support and help, I am here to help ya man cause I know it ain't easy! Take care of yourself.

Hello to everyone else and hope you're have a good day. Me? I keep getting interrupted but trying to catch up in here! smile.gif

Ooh! Wicked Tinkers is playing on Highlander Radio! I just love them! They are going to be in concert three hours from me in July and I so badly want to see them. Gotta talk hubby into it though and get sitter for the dogs. cool.gif

Thanks, Em, for your kind words. I have a world of happy memories to comfort me. One of the last things he said to us was that he thanked the Lord for the good life he had and then told each of us that he loved us. It helps.

Good to see you here, Siobhan. How have you been?

Hi to Rindy, Rose, Wizard, JP and Dragonboy. Hope everyone is doing fine.

JP....Having to shed a few pounds is never an easy feat. But, getting healthy is important and there are many of us here that are working toward that goal. We'll have to encourage each other along the way!!

Just got back from my daughter's house. I was staying with the grandsons tonight while the granddaughters had their first softball game. It started at 8pm, which makes for a late night, plus the 6 yr old has been sick for the past couple of days. Last night the boys had games but the 6yr old stayed with me til the rest came home. Earlier today I went shopping with my daughter and daughter-in-law. Always enjoy spending the day with them.

Talk with everyone tomorrow. smile.gif

Posted by: j Padraig moore 04-May-2005, 09:51 AM
Thanks everyone, for your encouragement. What I have is high blood pressure, my good chloresterol is way too low (should be higher) and a slight heart palpitation, known as a PVC (premature ventricular contraction). The doctor seems to think that if I drop some weight, this should all go away. Hope so!
The funny thing is, my wife said yesterday that she has been telling me for years to lose weight. That it should not have taken $$ for me to learn that! Oh well!

Hi everyone--I hope everyone is well. I went to the Culloden games this past weekend. Saturday was a complete washout. By that I mean there was a big down pour of rain and very windy. But Sunday was a beautiful day. This was the first game for my family this year and it was so much fun seeing old friends and making new ones.

Thank you for the condolences on the passing of my mother-in-law. Its been hard for our family. She and I were very close. I only referred to her as my mother-in-law when I had to make clear which mother I was talking about. So going to the games was a good distraction for me and the kids.

Well I have to go gotta get ready for work.

Not too much to say today. No one else seems to either.
My son still hasn't heard about this job yet. I am thinking the worst-that he did not get it and will need to keep looking.
Oh well, maybe I should just leave it in God's hands.

Hey everyone! Good to see y'all!

gwenlee! I am so happy to hear from you. I can only imagine all too well how difficult your loss has been for you and your family. I am so sorry that you all are having to go through this very hard time. So you got washed out at the Culloden games, eh? I hate it when that happens. When I did the powwow circuit on the weekends, it seemed like it would go all week without raining, but come the weekend.........it would rain! Argh! Glad you had one great day though. Were there many people there? Won't be long and you will be at the Gatlinburg games to see CAD, eh? Hope you are doing well otherwise.

Hi JP! How is the diet coming along? I know it is hard and it takes a long time to reach the goal you need to, but it is worth it. And it is funny cause it takes someone else to tell my hubby the very same things before he listens. I don't know why you hubby's never listen to us wives? rolleyes.gif We know best, don't you know? laugh.gif Hmm.......haven't heard from your son's job situation then, eh? I hope something comes up for him soon. How is work coming along?

Hey BGL. Sounds like you are doing well. Spending time with family is always nice. We will do so this weekend for Mother's Day.

Hey Rindy! Hope you have had a good day. All is well here. Had a hair appointment today so I am all beautified! laugh.gif Trying to study my Gaelic...ugh! No matter how hard I try, I still can't remember anything. sad.gif

What are you all doing for the weekend?

Hello everyone. My grandfather died yesterday at 5:30am, I will never forget that. He was looking like a Zombie when we went to visit him, he couldn't talk over a whisper, and couldn't walk. He wasn't the grandfather I remember. I just held his hand for hours and shed tears.

Thank you everyone for your support, I'm getting out of school tom. (fri) to go to family hours, and the "public veiwing" is Sat. This is gonna be harsh for everyone. I hate funerals, especially if it's someone very close.

Your prayers and love would still be appreciated, for my grandmother and family now? They've made an impact, I know they have! *Hugs to all*

You get back here as soon as you are able. Be strong for your family.. I am glad you got to be there at the end. You could say your goodbyes.
I will be waiting to here from you. If and when you feel like it tell us about your grandpa where he grew up what he did in life what you remember the most about him. When you get a minute...

My heart goes out to you, Dragonboy; our family has lost three elderly aunts in the past year and its been so sad to have to say farewell to them all. Death is a part of life, I guess, but its a difficult part to deal with nonetheless.

One aunt lived at this really great assisted living place, had a sweet little apartment there & had lived there for like 8 or 9 years so she knew absolutely everyone... well, the place had a 'wake' for her, a memorial service that they hosted for all of us in the family. I had never been to anything quite like this before and I must say it touched the hearts of every single one of us family members. They had put together a lot of photos from the aunt's life thru-out the years and had it on an easel for everyone to see... different friends and some of the center's employees spoke about what a great lady she had been, then her granddaughter's husband gave an eulogy. Now this aunt was quite a character, a fabulous cook, delightful hostess and a bit of a know-it-all so the stories he told about her soon had us all laughing remembering those past times. It was a very positive way to conclude the 'wake'.

My husband and I agreed as we left that when the day comes for our funeral, we hope there will be similiar upbeat stories told about us.

Dragonboy...my heart goes out to you, your grandmother and the rest of your family. This is going to be very tough for you, there isn't any other way to say it. But know that there are lots of prayers being said for you all. My dad, too, was very frail at the end, not like himself. He was always so special to me. I have a favorite picture of him when we were on our trip to Alaska in happier times. That is the dad I remember. Try to find a favorite picture of your own that you can carry and look at when you need to. When you look at it, remember the happy times you shared when it was taken. It helps for me, I hope it will help you too. heart.gif

Ange was having cramps all night, at intervals, starting at about 10pm. She's going to see the doc today to find out if she's actually going to go on her due date, which is today. smile.gif

If she calls me home, I'll post here first.

Dragonboy! I am so very sorry to hear the loss of your grandfather. I know this is very hard on you and your family and prayers will continue. My mother, who died last year, was much like your grandpa before she died. She could only talk a whisper and could no longer walk. They are at peace now but it doesn't take away the sting of not being able to walk and talk with them on this earth anymore. You take care of yourself and allow yourself to grieve. Keep in touch with us on how you and your family are doing, please.

OR! No baby yet? I wonder if it will happen this weekend for Mother's Day? Yippeee! I am so excited for you. Let us know as soon as you can!

Hello to everyone else. Been a good day. We have brush fires near us right now, so that has been scary. Seems like they are getting it under control though now. Had to pick up thyroid meds for my dog today. He has been a chub wub for several months and I have had him on a diet, but he wasn't losing any weight. Vet checked his thyroid and it explained the overweight problem, so now he will be on meds the rest of his little furry life.

Y'all take care and speak to you soon! Oh and Happy Mother's Day for all you mothers!

Beanneachd!

Had an interesting weekend.
Spent alot of it at track meets friday eveining and most of the day saturday.
Sunday we had a scare at church. An elderly lady passed out and the e-squad had to be called. Prayers were said as the paramedics did their work. Don't know how she is doing.
Saw Kingdom of Heaven. Great movie! Talk about that int he movie thread.
And my son finally got a job for the summer!
Yay!

Hope all is well with you all.

Good morning all.....

Glad to hear that your son got a job, JP. I know what a relief that is. Is it one he got on his own, or one that you had sent in an application?
Hope the woman from your church will be alright. Was she a member or a visitor? Our church was certainly full yesterday, many moms had family members visiting.

My kids and families came over after church for awhile, then hubby, myself and mom went for a drive in the country and stopped for dinner at a local family owned restaurant. We played cards in the evening, then enjoyed the homemade strawberry rhubard pie my daughter in law had brought over. Mmmmmm.....good!! Overall was a great day! biggrin.gif

Hope everyone has a good day today!!

Hi there everybody! Sounds like everyone is doing well.

OR -- no baby yet?

Rindy -- glad things are well for you.

JP -- Yippee, your son got a job! Scary about the lady at your church. That always freaks me out when I see someone go through that. Let us know if you hear anything. I haven't seen Riobhca or Sonee for a long time. Hope they are ok. I had been worried about Maggiemahone too and finally heard from her, so I feel better.

Bluegrass -- sounds like you had a good day.

Our mother's day was spent out of town with all the family and that was nice. We also celebrated the graduation of one of our nephews who graduated from law school. Yay! we have a lawyer in the family now! biggrin.gif We came home from our trip and I didn't even get on the computer as my back was really bothering me. Was still bothering me yesterday and I had this horrible neck pain to boot. I finally had to take drugs, lay down and stay there, so it wasn't a good day yesterday. Feel lots better today though. smile.gif Now I am behind in all my posting! ohmy.gif

Have a good one, y'all!

Hello everyone,

I am sitting here in a thundering snow storm. Kind of feels wierd, but we need the moisture so bad. I wish I could plant my flowers that are sitting in the garage..Just keeping them alive for the next few days ought to be a task.

Hi DR, hope your day went well.

JP, no I haven't heard or seen anything of Riobhca31. I hate it when people just disapear and you haven't got a clue. How is your sons job going?

Hi Dreamer! How are you doing? What is new with you? Good advice to OR!

OR, you said "girl." do I take it baby is a girl? Well, there is always Monday and you will have her for sure then. wink.gif

Hey Rindy! Gosh! I can't believe you are snowing up there when we are hitting 100 degrees this week! Hope you had a good day!

I hate it too when people just disappear cause you never know what happened to them and I tend to worry whether something bad has happened. but I guess people get busy with other things. I have to remind myself that there is life beyond the message boards! biggrin.gif

I had a good day. Hubby came home several hours early. My neck and back pain wasn't as bad, so I wasn't as cranky today. laugh.gif Got some new concert DVDs to watch. Yippee! Probably will do that in the morning..........after I run errands of course.

Hope everyone else is doing fine! Dragonboy we miss you! sad.gif

Hi everybody.
Was out of town yesterday so I myself was MIA - just for the day.
OldRaven: how is the baby watch coming along?
CR: don't get too cranky with your back pain, etc. I just can't see you as a cranky person.
My son has not started work yet. It being a construction job, it may be hit and miss for a while. I do know he will be working a little bit tomorrow.

Hi Celtic Rose, I survived the snow. Weird weather. Let me know how you like the DVD's. I know you will like one of them!!! HEE HEE. How hot are you in the summer?
I couldn't handle the heat...guess you could get used to any of it.

Dreamer what type of martial arts does your hubby teach? Sounds like your day was full. Speaking of coats. I had to go did my sweater out due to the snow.

Old Raven, nothing yet I take it??

JpMoore-lots of construction out here now. We are booming due to methane gas. Lots of people and no where to live..
So they build.

Well have a great night everyone..

Hi everyone,

CR....hope you are feeling some better each day. Maybe soon you will be pain free. How did you hurt your back and neck?

Dreamer...I like the sound of the support fence. I bet looks great. You do have a hectic schedule, sound a bit like my daughter. I remember the days when our kids were involved in so many activities. Kind of nice now to sit back and let the next generation take care of things. I just have to make sure to wear the right t-shirt to each of the grandkids ball games. biggrin.gif Each team sold t-shirts to the parents and grandparents with the names of the kids on the back of the t-shirts. I have three shirts...two of them have two grandkids names on them cuz they are on the same team. Two of them play t-ball, one plays hardball and two of them play softball.

JP...Glad you are back. Did you have to out of town on business or pleasure? My son-in-law worked construction for a couple of years. He liked the work but the weather certainly played a big part in how regular he worked.

OR...Now a days most people want to know the sex of the baby, but I agree, it is nice to be surprised. How are you both holding up?

Rindy....Snow??? I didn't realize that there were still parts of the lower 48 getting the white stuff. Good luck on keeping your flowers going til the weather warms up so you can plant them.

As for myself, everything is packed and we hope to be on the road before 9a.m. tomorrow. We are heading for Michigan for a friend's mother's funeral on Saturday and will staying thru the 23rd. Next Saturday, the 21st, is when we are have a memorial service for my dad. Because my dad was in a Scottish regiment from Canada, my sister was able to arrange for a military service which will include a piper, which is traditional in Canada. My dad would be so pleased to have the bagpipes played at his service.

Hi everyone

I just got home from Scottish Country Dancing. We had a good group and the dancing was fun. I haven't been around much lately because too much is going on in my life. I went to the Culloden Games April 30th and May 1st. On Saturday the weather was horrible. We had a terrible down pour with winds. But by noon the rain had stopped and part of the day was salvaged. Sunday was beautiful and we had a good crowd. Tonight we have a SCD social and general meeting. Then next weekend I'll be in Gatlinburg at the games there. If anyone happens to be at the game stop by the Clan Donnachaidh tent and say HI. I'll also be at the Blairsville game on June 11-12 if you are there you can find me dancing or at the Donnachaidh tent.

Hi Rindy I can't believe you had snow. The weather sure has been crazy. I thought we were in global warming.

OR--As a labor and delivery nurse and a mother of four I can tell you babys do come in there own time. Not one of mine came when they were suppose to. I love it that you don't know what it is yet. I know it is nice to know the sex prior to birth so you can better plan but I think it takes something away from the event. I always loved it when a couple got the opposite of what they were expecting. Anyway may the mother to be have an easy labor and congratulations

Posted by: oldraven 13-May-2005, 07:57 AM
No baby yet. I'm hoping now that she holds out until monday, so I can spend the weekend putting new brakes on the TurboCoupe, and getting it ready for cruising season. biggrin.gif They will give her the Gel at 7:30am, send us home, and when the contractions reach the five minute mark, we'll head in. smile.gif There just aren't enough beds in the city to keep a woman for twelve plus hours, when she'll be all that much more comfortable at home anyway.

She's been getting more and more tired every day this week, and starting last night the bones in her pelvic region have been paining a lot. Pretty soon I won't be able to make whale sounds at her without getting my arse kicked. wink.gif

As for the sex of the baby, I see no reason to find out. 90% of the baby stuff we have came from hand-me-downs and gifts. If we have to fork out some cash on girls clothes, (Ange's cousin have us eight garbage-bags full of boys clothes), we'll survive. I think the most wonderful part of the day will be finding out if it's a son or daughter. My generation is the first to have this option of insight. I don't see any reason to break with tradition if it will take away from the experience. smile.gif

Here's the nursery. As you can see, we've been ready for a few weeks. laugh.gif Can anyone vouch for the diaper-genie?

OR I am so glad you shared the photos of your baby nursery cause it all looks so nice and comfy for baby. I hope Ange can hold out till Monday for you all. Let us know something as soon as you can, ok? Tell her we are all thinking about her and the baby and that all will go quickly and she won't have to be in labor long.

JP! good to hear from you! How's work and travel for you? Well hope your son's job goes well. haven't seen me cranky yet, eh? Well there are few folks who would disagree with you! Between chronic back pain and the big M, it happens! Though I don't like to be that way.

gwenlee! so good to hear from you. Sorry about the rain at Culloden. Hope you have great weather at Gatlinburg and give us a full report on CAD there! wink.gif May I suggest the best CD to get of theirs? Tribal Waves! I love Tribal Eyes too! Rindy may have a different opinion though. Hee hee

Bluegrass, have a nice and safe trip. Thanks for your kindness. My back and neck is a congenital condition inherited from my grandma, dad and my youngest sister has it too. I have scoliosis, arthritis, bone spurs, a rotated S spine and a bulging disk. I am on the internet a lot, but have to get up frequently and a lot of times go lay down for awhile to ease the pain.

Dreamer! So wonderful to hear from you and know what all is going on in your life! Sounds like you have a very busy life! Wow! I always wanted to get into martial arts, but was too shy. Keep in touch!

Hey Rindy! Hope you got to go see Orlando's movie and had a good day with no snow! LOL

hello to everyone else and hope you have had a good week and will have a good weekend too.

Hey CR I can hardly wait for Gatlinburg. I hope our tent will be in view of the entertainment and I can have a very good view of CAD. I love going to the Smokies and I'm hoping for some great weather. Tribal wave is the CD I'm planning to get. I've heard it is very good.

I had a good time last night at the social. The Westville demo sounds like it will be a lot of fun. There will be a re-enactment of the Creeks attacking the settlement. I'm told by those who went last year they danced while the attack was going on. For those who don't know, Westville, GA is a 1835 township. It's an educational center showing people what a town in 1835 might have looked like.

Well I have to go and get a few things done. Tonight I'm going to Red Top MT State Park and listen to a group call Haggis and Hominy. I've never heard of them but I think from the name of the group I can figure out what kind of music I'll be hearing.

OR how is the lady in waiting?

Posted by: CelticRose 14-May-2005, 12:28 PM
Hi gwenlee! I love the Smokies too and loved living there in western NC a few years back. I hope you get a good space to see CAD too. I so wanted to go to that event, but it was just too close to my Oregon trip. I will be anxious how it all goes! Have fun tonight and hope you are doing well.

What is the name of that town in northern GA that used to be the capital of the Cherokee nation and has a village and all set up like it was back before the Trail of Tears? I cannot remember the name to save my life right now. Glad you had a good time at the social.

Happy weekend to everyone else!

Hi everyone,

Rindy, you asked about the Martial Arts program that my crew's involved in, and I meant to answer the other day, I'm sorry! Here's the website, so you can check it out in detail if you'd like. http://www.umacmarblehead.com/ It's a System that teaches more than one form of study, to give everyone a well-rounded training and understanding. I don't explain it very well, so please check the Site out--it's really a very good program for all different ages and abilities! They are involved in a lot of community programs, too, and organize special programs with the Police dept., Fire dept., and our local School dept. The Photo Gallery will give you a good idea of what's offered. Enjoy!

BlueGrassLady, I've been thinking of you and your trip North. I'm very sorry for both of your losses, and I know this will be a very emotional time for all of you. Just remember that you're in our thoughts.

CR, I'm so sorry about your back and neck! That's a lot to deal with and I hope that your doc has been able to help you. Can they do anything with the disk and bone spurs? Just to remove some of the problems for you? My youngest sister had a bit of curvature in her spine and had to spend her high school years in a brace that went from her neck to her hips. She's fine now, thank goodness, though of course she has to be careful in what she does, and sees a chiropracter regularly. I think there are special chairs available (and I've seen cushions too), that are designed to help with back problems, though I'm probably just telling you something you already know. Just wish I could help!!

Moon Child, I haven't gotten up the nerve yet to venture into the Curves here. Just too lazy and intimidated with the whole thing, I'm afraid. On the positive side, I have started walking with my hubby in the evenings again, when weather permits. We usually walk for three miles, but will increase that as I get used to walking again. I can sure tell it in my legs afterwards! It's a good sort of ache, and lets me know I've done some good work on them. Hubby taught me how to do V Sit-ups, too, so that's working my abs to death! Add in lots of stretching, reverse curls, small weight lifts, and things will improve eventually. The hard part is staying away from our daughters' favorites--cinnamon rolls and donuts! laugh.gif

I've got to go everyone! Irish Stepper, Gwenlee, J Padraig, OldRaven, take care of yourselves!!

Hey everybody!
Coming to you on a saturday afternoon. Not typical for me. I usually stay off the net on the weekends.
Kind of rainy and blustery here. Wound up cancelling some plans for the day.
Grass is too wet to cut it. The neighbors will be complaining soon about my weeds! laugh.gif
CR-hope you feel better soon with that back of yours.
OR-good luck with that baby!

And all others, cheers!!!

Hello Dreamer! Your martial arts sounds really interesting. Hope you are having a good weekend. Thanks for your kind words. Yeah, I have heard it all before. Unfortunately I was not diagnosed until my mid-30s and by then it was too late to do anything for a lot of it. I see a massage therapist often and she helps me more than anything to keep the muscles loose and not so tight from the rotation of the spine. Doctors don't want to do surgery and neither do I want it! I have heard too many horror stories. Sorry to moan so much.

Hey JP! What a delightful surprise to hear from you on the weekend! Hope you are having a good one too. I hear weather there has not been good. It has been kind of quiet in the site here. I guess everybody is out enjoying good weather who can.

We will all be thinking about Or and Ange this weekend and Monday, eh? Anxious to hear and congratulate the new parents! smile.gif

y'all take care!

Nothing from OR yet huh? It was a good day today- spent a lot probably to much time in front of this computer...but I think it was time well spent. Oh I did plant my zinnias down my drive way. Have over 18 feet so its a chore. I need to go buy dirt tomorrow I have two more plants in pots then I am done. Tomorrow I have to work in the evening afternoon, will be helping the eye doctor. We will be renting a pepsi wagon and serving a free BBQ for a sunglass sale.. Should be fun..hope the weather is nice...

She's at 2 1/2 cm now, and has been contracting since about 10:00am. She's in bed now, trying to get some rest. I imagine this will be a loooong night. I should be there trying to catch a few z's myself, but I can't sleep.

CONGRATULATIONS! OR, ANGE AND COIRA!

Hello everyone!!

Congrats OR and your newly extended family!! Children are the most precious thing and make life bearable!!!

Sorry I've been gone for awhile! My husband was offered a transfer for more money so we thought we were going to move. I spent the last month packing the house to find out last week that it wasn't going to happen. The raise they were promising wasn't exactly what it appeared to be! They were going to keep him at the same wage he gets here and just give him small raises throughout the future. Kind of defeats the purpose and his boss here offered him a dollar more and hour to stay. Looks like I'll be unpacking now!!!

Today is my daughters last day of school for the year. Probably the last day in this school period. She goes to a country school, one of the rural school the government is trying to close. My husband thinks we should move her into town next year even if our school doesn't close right away because it will at some point. He thinks it would be better for her to enter a new school now, when she's younger and can make new friends, than when she is older and already has set friends here. Guess that will take more discussion. Anybody got any input? I could use all the help I can get to make this dicision.

Dragonboy, so sorry to hear about your grandfather. My grandfather died in 2002. He had cancer really bad and none of the treatments worked. Unfortunately, I live to far away to see him much. He called me one night and talked to all of us, a way to say goodbye. I knew then that it was the end. He died about 2 days later. Even now, 3 years later I cry when I think of him. One of the things I'm thankful for the most is that my son was born in March of that year so my grandfather got to know him. It's hard, and it hurts, but you will go on. Don't be afraid to cry whenever the feeling hits you, it really does help. If you ever need anyone to talk to or just to vent your frustrations to I'm here to listen! Take care of yourself and your family and let us know how you are!

I've got to go for a bit, my son a yelling at me for some milk!!! I will post more later and try to catch up! I missed so much it might be awhile before I'm fully up to date!!!

Stay well everyone!

Hi everyone. I'm having trouble with my computer and I haven't been on it much. I'm packing up for Gatlinburg. The campers is ready and we have our kilts. I hope to be in good view of CAD-I'm so looking forward to hearing them. The weather sounds like it will be great.

OR-congratulations on that new bundle of joy. Its so much fun dressing her up and she will have you wrapped around her finger.

CR- The name of that town in north GA is New Echota.

Rindy and CR I wish all of us could be in Gatlinburg this weekend. We could be 3 crazy chicks jamming to CAD. I hope everyone is well. If I don't get back on by Friday everyone be safe.

Hope you all have a great evening..

It's good to be back!! I've really missed you all this last month!! It's amazing what good friends can do for a persons outlook!!

It's very hot in Nebraska, I can tell you that Rindy!! It's currently 80 degrees in my house!! I just can't make myself turn on the air yet!! Too expensive!!

I went out golfing last Saturday and managed to sunburn the top of my head (along the part in my hair) my forehead and my nose. I am just now starting to peel! (after my nose blistered, of course!) and my head itches something fierce!! Hopefully I learned my lesson and next time I take a hat!! (but that remains to be seen, I'm quite the scatterbrain!!)

Hope everyone is having a good week so far, and I hope to catch up with all of you in time!! Take care all!!

Hope everthing is going well for OR and the family.
Been away from the office for a bit. It is always fun to get out and about.
I mentioned before about doing some yard work. Well tueaday I was finishing the grass and started to mow in an area near the house. Well, a few days earlier my wife and I planted some blue spruce seedlings (about 6-inches tall). Thats right, you guessed it! Ran those suckers right over with the tractor! I forgot they were there! The wife was not too happy. mad.gif

But I redeemed myself a short time later by rescuing a baby bunny. angel.gif

Hi G!

Are you headed for Highland Games in Gatlinburg?

Hey everyone!

Sonee! So good to see you back. I wondered where you went off too. wow! You almost moved? Where to? Sorry you have to unpack now. That is a lot of work and I always hated that part when we moved. As far as your child changing schools, I am not one to answer that as I have never had any kids, but dogs! LOL I hope you are doing well and keeping cool.

Hey JP! Pretty funny what you did to your seedlings.............OOPS! Glad you made up for it though with the bunny! LOL

Hi gwenlee! Have a great time in Gatlinburg. Hopefully next year if CAD is there, I will be there too. Going to try to drag SB with me, aren't I, SB?! laugh.gif That is right! The name is New Echota! Can't believe I forgot the name of it. How is it there now? Have they done anything new there? Sorry about your pc. Hope you get that worked out.

SB, you and gwenlee should get together at the Stone Mountain games! How you are you doing? Hope things are going smoothly with your son's wedding coming up. Wow! It is so hard to believe he is getting married now.

Hey Rindy! It is hot out there today I can tell, but haven't checked the temps yet. Supposed to get to 110 this weekend.

I spent most the day yesterday fighting with Live 365 cause my Highlander Radio was giving me no sound! I was so beside myself. I finally found the tech support people and they got me going again..........yay!

I finally lost another pound! Sheesh! I spent a whole month not losing anything. guess I reached a plateau and was worried that that was it! One of my dogs ran off this morning to chase after a lizard! I was screaming at the top of my lungs for her to come back and she didn't mind me. dry.gif Bad dog! But the whole neighborhood I am sure heard me! laugh.gif

Well I wonder how OR is doing? I hope he and his family are all getting their rest and having fun.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Later!

Hi everyone. I'm home again, just me and my animal kingdom. king.gif I left my two ladies a half hour ago. Good news, though. They will be coming home tomorrow, and starting saturday, I'll be able to spend all day with them both until I return to work the following friday. smile.gif I finally got to hold Coira without six inches of bundling. What a squirmer. biggrin.gif

She's changed her looks so much already. For the better, of course. wink.gif But the batteries died in the camera, so I'll get some good pics of her tomorrow night, when she's home. smile.gif

I'm starting to feel guilty, coming in here and only talking about my house. Looking for 'OR' in other posts, so I can answer any questions. Soon enough, I'll have a little more time to listen to your lives. smile.gif

Posted by: Sonee 19-May-2005, 10:09 PM
Evening all!!!

Well, OR, right now your life is certainly more interesting than mine so I'd rather listen to yours than have you listen to mine!!! biggrin.gif
Take all the pics you can. They do change, right before your eyes!! And grow up so fast all you can do is shake your head!!

Actually, Ròs, I wasn't moving all that far. Only to Lincoln, Nebraska. About 2 1/2 hours from where I am now. And unpacking is awful!! Maybe I'll just leave most of it packed until we really need it!! Then maybe I'll have one of my kids unpack it for me!! (I thought that's what we had kids for anyway, to have them do the things we don't want to!! Was I wrong all this time?!) unsure.gif
Congrats on the weight loss!! I'm still at my plateau!(at least that's what I keep telling myself!) But, I just bought a Gazelle Edge so I'm hoping to jump of that plateau anytime now!! thumbs_up.gif

Don't feel too bad JP, I tilled up some squash I planted the other year cuz I thought they were weeds!! (My husbands favorite garden food is squash!) Saving the bunny should garner you some good karma and maybe even the score about the seedlings!!

Not to show my ignorant streak but... what is CAD? You guys use some abbreviations that are apparently beyond me!! (please don't bean me with rotten tomatoes or anything!!)

Everyone take care and I'll be seeing ya!

Sonee - I think CAD means Clann an Druma, a favorite band among many of our friends here.

Wow Rosie - a 110 degrees already! But it is a dry heat, correct?

Everyone take care.

Celticrose, you know my traveling motto:
"I can be packed in 20 minutes!!" laugh.gif laugh.gif
You bet I'll go to Gatlinburg with you if CAD is there. I'd like to see them in person myself.

Gwenlee, I do plan to attend the Stone Mt. Highland Games this year so let's try to meet! Aren't you with the Donnachaidh clan booth? That's my husband's clan (he's a Reid) and I think he would like to visit the games again; we hope to get a chance to hear a friend play his fiddle - he likes to bring his fiddle & 'jam' with some of the other musicians there. (Oh Rosemary, you may remember him - Keith Dunn, he used to do acrylic paintings and show in those Mable House art festivals! He doesn't paint much now and says he'd rather be fiddling!)

What I love to watch too are the dancers... didn't get to see much of them the last time we went to the Stone Mt. Games, had to leave too soon.

OR, you have exciting things going on in your life right now that your friends here want to hear about. So chat away and tell us all! So Coira is a squirmer, eh? Hold tight! LOL Hope all goes well this weekend and you get some new pics for us. I can't believe how quickly babies change either. It is amazing!

Hey Sonee! Well moving is a pain in the behind! I hate it and hope to not have to do it again........ever! What is a Gazelle Edge? I really need to get myself back on my recumbent bike.......so I say everyday. rolleyes.gif

yes, JP! CAD is for Clann An Drumma. Several of us here are big fans of theirs.

It only got up to about 105 today, but they are saying 112 by Sunday. It is dry heat and you get used to it by staying indoors where there is lots of a/c! laugh.gif laugh.gif When you go outside, it is like being inside an oven! But we all have thin blood out here and like I said, you get accustomed to it. I would much rather be hot than cold. Can't stand the cold and hate snow.......so I am true desert rat! LOL

My vehicle broke down this morning..........thankfully in my garage. Tis the season for vehicles to break down now because of our intense heat. I hate to drive the freeways this time of year because when we're this hot, the roads are actually 150 degrees, they say, and you see blow outs on the road all the time........scary!

Y'all have a good weekend. We're planning to see Star Wars so we will see.

clap.gif Hello One and All, It's been forever since I've posted here. Sorry...it's been really hectic and I just haven't had the time to get on here like I used to. My Mom got sick last month and was in the hospital for 16 days. 4 of them in the ICU and we didn't know if she was going to make it or not, but thanks to God she did. She hasn't bounced back like I hoped she would. I'm just thankful that she is still with us.

My daughter Elizabeth graduated from college with a degree in Business Admistration last Saturday, that was a happy day for my family. We had a big cook-out and popped a bottle of bubbly in special honor of her. She doesn't plan on going to work, she prefers to stay home and be a Mom to my grandson who is 2 years old. That is a job in it's self! He is a live wire.

I was able to take time for hubby and me this week-end. We took off on our motorcycle yesterday morning and rode to the Shenandoah Valley in Va., got on the BlueRidge Parkway and rode for over 50 miles. I guess we rode about 420 miles total.

I've missed you all and I hope everyone has been peachy! biggrin.gif

Howdy everyone! It has been another wonderful day here. It was in the upper 70's beautiful. I got a lot done today- that always makes me feel better.

Moonchild you went camping huh? Wish I was sitting up on a stream in the mountains right now. Soon...Still have snow up there.

Maggie- it is so good to hear from you. I am so glad your mom is ok. How scary that must have been.
Congrats on your daughters graduation. She will always have that to fall back on when her child is grown. I think that is so great she is a full time Mom. As you know its the hardest job in the world..
Hope you will be around more-missed you..

Celtic Rose did I see your weather somewhere say it was 111 degrees? Oh I wouldn't make it there.. oh I suppose I would but that is hot hot- and you say it isn't as hot as it gets. unsure.gif

Everyone have a wonderful evening..

Hi Rindy sorry about my post I should have been more clear. unsure.gif

I didn't get a chance to go camping this weekend since I had to work but I might next weekend, it really depends on the weather!! It's been really nice during the day but cool at night!! No snow thank goodness! tongue.gif Sorry to hear you have snow!

Hi everybody,

Maggie! I'm so glad you're back -- it's been way too long! I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, and very thankful she's better now. Hope that she continues to improve. hug.gif Tell your daughter she's wonderful , and congratulate her on that Degree. I know that took a lot of hard work.

Hey, will all of you with warm weather pleeaase send it this way??? We have temps still in the low 50's/upper40's, gray skies, and lots of rain sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif This weekend was the 5th rainy one in a row, and the weeks haven't been much better. We really could use some good strong sunshine up here!!

Moon Child, good luck next weekend - I hope you get to go camping!
CR, take care of yourself in the heat, and don't overdo it. It's easy to get busy and lose track of the amount of time you've spent outdoors. Be careful!
Rindy, I'm glad you've finally been able to get some gardening done. Enjoy being out there again!

Question -- where has Annabelle gotten to lately? I want to hear all about the wedding! Suppose she's visiting with her new grandbaby? I miss her.

Take care all.

Hello everyone!

Maggie! so happy to see you back! sorry to hear about your mother, but glad to hear she is doing much better. Congrats to your daughter too! Hope to see more of you when you get a chance. Have been really missing you.

Hey Dreamer! Sorry about your weather. That's a bummer. I hate it to rain all the time and be cold too. It depresses me. We may be very hot here, but at least it is sunny every day and I like that. Makes me feel good. Have had to be careful with my dogs in this heat though. They love to go outside and play and I have to be careful they are not out for too long. One dog died here recently of heat stroke. Sad. I have had heat exhaustion before and that was awful. Couldn't get out of bed for two days! ohmy.gif

Hey Moonchild, sorry you had to work. Hopefully next weekend you will get some downtime, eh? Hope you are doing well. Are you still looking for another job?

Hey Rindy! How's it going with you? Today is laundry day so I am working on that. Went to bed very late this weekend both nights. I am hoping for a nap on the couch later! wink.gif

Hello to everyone else! Hope OR and his girls are doing well.

Hey everyone I just got back from Gatlinburg, TN and I had to get on the forum and say hello. The weather was great this past weekend. The temperture was just right. I got to see CAD perform the tent was packed and my pictures are from the back.

Maggie congratulations on your daughters graduation, and I too am sorry to hear your mother has been ill. I know what you have been through.

CR, Rindy and Siobhan I wish we could have been there together to listen to CAD. Siobhan I would love to get together with you and I hope you and your family will come to Stone MT this year and stop by the tent. I hope you might consider becoming part of our clan. We are a good group.

Well I have to go. I have to unpack the camper and cook supper.

Congratulations to you and your family on your daughter's graduation! I am proud of her, both for graduating and for choosing to be a stay-home mom to the little guy. Those early years are so important and he'll benefit from her being there... I did the same thing when my son came along and even tho it made our financial situation very tight I believed it was worth it.

And now he's grown - actually he's getting married on Saturday! - and I have more freedom to choose how I spend my time. Your daughter will too someday. I swear kids grow up soo fast...

Hello all! I am not smart at all when it comes to computers! I just know a little to get me by sometimes..LOL

In fact, I wanna know how to copy all "My Pictures" folders on a CD. I have done it before and I have since forgotten or something. I can't get it to work! Can someone give me instructions who uses XP? Do I need CD-RW CDs to copy everything on the CD? Or do I need one CD per folder?

Sorry, I don't have time to answer everyone, but wanted to say hello and hope you all are doing well. Hubby will be home any minute and want the pc and dinner!

It is pretty warm here now. Even the nights are warm. I was up early pulling weeds that always seem to manage to come up for some reason.......it is a never ending project. Well it was supposed to be 105 today and I swear it was that already when I was out working in the yard! OUCH!

have a doctor's appointment in the morning to do a blood pressure and weight check. Hope my doctor will be happy with the results.

Anybody going out of town this holiday weekend?

You all take care!

CR: I always use cdrecord, Nero, or Roxio, and personally don't like using a CD like a regular disk. However, when you insert a blank disk, there should be an option that is presented to you to set it up like that. Then you drag the files, and when you're done, seems like there was another option you have to select to actually write the files. I've never used it so I don't remember the exact options.

I finally got my DVD player in biggrin.gif I've not found much yet it won't play. Although I have found answers to a couple of format questions I had. It hasn't thought twice about much anything I've given it so far, to include my scratched-to-hell-and-back copy of Thriller. It just finished playing a Joadee James CD that, until now, I'd never heard all the way through from the original disc. I love having options smile.gif Hopefully I'll have time to do that full review of Heather's new CD soon now smile.gif Now that I have the hardware to do it right!

Hello everyone! How wonderful to have a three day weekend, eh? We are not going anywhere as our vacation to Oregon starts the following weekend for a week. I am anxious to go and see what Oregon looks like and see family.

Went to the doctor yesterday and the doc was very pleased with my weight loss. So that made me feel good. I only have about 10-15 more pounds to go.

Aaediwen, thanks for the advice on buring the CDs. My hubby uses Nero all the time so I will have him show me. wink.gif Been watching my Loreena McKennett DVD too and wow! That is a super DVD of hers. Just love it! Thanks for telling me about it. smile.gif

Dreamer and Rindy! Sounds like you both are having some weather there! Dreamer how far away from the coast do you live? I love the ocean! Sounds like a fun trip for your eldest child. Hope all goes well.

Hi Rindy,

I'm glad you didn't get frost after all. I know you went to a lot of trouble, but it was worth every moment of bother. I haven't been able to plant anything yet. They're all sitting in trays in the bay window waiting for good weather (or at least good enough). Hopefully this weekend I'll get them all in. I have snapdragons, sage, foxglove, malva "Zebrine", viola "Rebecca", alstroemeria "Sweet Laura", columbine "Colorado", osteospermum "Silver Sparkler", and a bareroot rose "Mary Rose". I've just been keeping them all moist and hoping for the best, and making plans for more treasures once these are planted! Do you also find yourself adding more, and planning more areas?? I have lists and lists! laugh.gif

You and Lily have finished your school year?!? Our kids have another month yet to go. sad.gif They were supposed to finish on the 18th of June, but with our snow days they'll be going until the 24th. When do you start your school year? I know some places start the last week in August, but we always wait until the day after Labor Day. Enjoy the start of Summer! Just please don't tell our kids rolleyes.gif

Hi Lily! Welcome! Nice to have you here! I don't have kids so I don't even know if school is out yet here or not. laugh.gif Pretty hot there where you are though.

where I live is pretty hot all the time. I live in the desert and we had a horrific thunderstorm last night! gosh! I couldn't believe it! The worst part is my dog, Irish, gets absolutely crazy during a thunderstorm. There is no calming her down and she just runs from one side of the house to the other. But what she really wants to do is go outside and chase after the lightening bolts! ohmy.gif Yeah, crazy dog I have there. My other dog could care less and looks at her like she is batty. laugh.gif But anyway, we had a major flash flood and it was so bad that it caved in the roof of our local K-mart! ohmy.gif So that was the talk of the town today.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and relaxing or having safe travels. Not much else going on. Just wanted to say hello. smile.gif

Hey everyone,

I have to ask - has anyone heard from Annabelle lately?? She's been gone a long time, and I know the wedding was just a week or so ago, but still..... I don't know why but she keeps popping into my mind and so I'm wondering if anyone's heard anything. It's not like her to be gone this long. Is it time to send out the search parties? unsure.gif

Hi Dreamer! Hope you are doing well. I have not seen Annabelle on the site here for a long time, actually. So I have no idea where she is and why she hasn't been around. Sorry. Maybe somebody here knows how to contact her. There are several people we need to send out the search parties on. Swanny comes to my mind just now. sad.gif

Hello one and all, hope everyone here is peachy. Sounds like everyone has been busy and keeping out of trouble! biggrin.gif Our weather here was warm but the wind was blowing and it was a cool 70. I had a very busy day, not here at the house. This morning hubby and I went to our new Wally World. It's so nice, the aisles are wider and doesn't get as congested. We have 2 Wal-Mart within about 7 miles from one another. After Wal-Marts, came home stayed about one hour, went 4- wheelin' for about 4 hours, the woods are beautiful this time of year. We did get the 4-wheeler stuck in a big ol' mud hole and it took us a while to get out. Boy, did the mud fly! After we got home, decided we would go out and have dinner. Got cleaned up, decided we would ride the motorcycle and off we went! Had dinner at a little Italian resturant and the food was yummy. I was a good girl and passed up dessert. angel_not.gif After we ate, went for a ride on the motorcycle for about an hour and then came home. Needless to say I am tired, maybe I'll rest tomorrow. Maybe not! I did see a beautiful rainbow when I was out on the cycle.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial day week-end. Take care!!!

Hi everyone,
We finally got home from Michigan late Thursday night. We stayed longer than we had planned. Some cousins from Canada came down for my dad's memorial service and my aunt decided to stay for a few days so she could visit with my mom. While in Michigan I somehow hurt my back so I am not getting around very easily. sad.gif
Today the family is coming over for a cookout. Guess I'll let someone else handle things. I'll be on the chaise lounge! Hopefully my back will be better by next Saturday. That is the Glasgow Games and I
really want to beable to go. We can only go for the one day tho, cuz my oldest grandson has a birthday party on Sunday (he will be nine!)

Maggie....what a busy day you had. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. My husband has had a few motorcycles throughout the years. We enjoyed them but now we enjoy the wind in our faces in our convertible. I know it's not the same but it is better for us. We still have one 3 wheeler and one 4 wheeler here on the farm.

Rose....gosh, sounds like quite a storm. I don't imagine you get many storms in the desert. One of our dogs goes a bit nuts when we have a storm too. Hope yours has settled down now.

Dreamer...wow....that's a lot of flowers you've got there. Your garden must be gorgeous when everything is planted. I have really cut back on the flowers this year. Most of the annuals are in planters. I try to plant a few more perennials each year.

Rindy...how are you doing?

SB...with just a few more days til the wedding, I am sure you are very busy with the last minute details. Will be thinking of you.

JP...hope you've having a great weekend.

Mike....how's things in Chicago?

Lily....good to meet you. School's been out since May 18th here. Our kids do start early tho. The first week in August. The schools close here if there is even a hint of snow, so they start early, just in case.

Hi to everyone else I have missed.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.

Hi everyone,

Not to worry about Annabelle - I have it on good authority that she's fine. Phew!

I'm glad you're home again BGL, but I'm sorry about your back. I hope it's nothing too serious, and you can be doing all your favorite things again soon. Don't miss those Games! In the meantime, let them all pamper you and don't feel guilty about it. It's important to let it heal properly, and not be rushed. They'll agree with me, I'm sure!

Maggie - it sounds like a great day! Your kids probably have trouble keeping up with you guys! laugh.gif Enjoy the rest of this weekend!

Rindy - I hope you're outside enjoying your gardening and having a wonderful time.

Everyone, have a fun holiday! We have softball games and practises to watch, and friends to visit here in town, but it's all easy going and relaxed. Hope yours is too!

Hello everyone! I made it home- it is rainning like crazy! The weather here on Memorial Day is always awful.. as long as we don't have snow. Well now that I was gone I have lots to catch up on.. Have a good evening...

Lily love the avatar! Beautiful.. Are you sure of the time now when the job is done? laugh.gif

Dreamer- I do end up adding more. I love columbine-guess humingbirds like it too. Hope your planting goes well.. thumbs_up.gif
I am not sure when the kids started school around here think it was the end of August.

Celtic Rose- I am so glad your thunder storm is over! As you know I hate those things-I act like Irish-I can't get away from the bolts fast enough..I remember when the wind blew a pizza hut roof off. Where I used to live the winds always blew-still do a 70-80mph gust not uncommon. Blows semi trucks over all the time
Hope all else is going well. I missed ya! I think of DragonBoy and suffy...and Swanny. Mike, I too am glad Celtic Rose's Wally world didn't get blown away..or bolted LOL hope your weekend is going well. I love your biker avatar..Do you own a bike?

Maggie- you are so luck to have the Walmarts and a Italian resturant! I remember the first time I ate at Olive Garden I thought I had died and went to heaven. The closest I have is 121 miles... sad.gif Glad to hear your still riding...

Bluegrass Lady, I am so sorry to hear about your back. I hope you had a nice time at your cook out.. Are you going to be able to see Clann An Drumma? Oh get some pictures if you do..do you do live feeds at all? I would love one--if so pm me... Its great to see ya here. Take care of that back now... thumbs_up.gif

Glad to hear Anabelle is ok..

Well I hope everyone has a great evening and be safe!!!

Hey there everyone!

Welcome back Bluegrasslady and Rindy! You were really missed!

BGL! I am so sorry to hear about your back. I hope you get some rest. Use some ice on it for 30 minutes and then some heat the next day and so forth. Take some ibuprofen too. If that doesn't help then see a doctor! I hope all went well at your friends. I am sure she was happy to see you there. Thought about you and your dad's memorial service. I hope you get to go to the Glasgow Games and see mine and Rindy's favorite band Clann An Drumma who is performing there! That would be terrific!

Rindy, how was your camping trip? did you have good weather and a nice time? Sure glad you're home. Have missed you and you were only gone for one day! LOL Will you miss me when I am gone to Oregon for a whole week next week? laugh.gif Your having bad weather there now, eh? I think we may be in for another storm cause Irish is acting crazy again. Who needs a weather forecaster when you have a dog that tells you the weather is going crazy! laugh.gif We get winds here that high too, Rindy. We call them dust storms here. I have seen them do a lot of damage. We usually have the storms called monsoon season from June through August and they are nasty!

Hey Dreamer! Glad you found out that Annabelle is doing well. Hope you will have a good weekend.

Hey Maggie! Good to see you back. You are a very busy lady and always a big treat to see you when we can. How is your mother doing? I hope she is feeling better. Good luck on your daughter's graduation. Sorry you have to work tomorrow, but nature of the job, eh? Take care!

Hello to everyone else and have a great day tomorrow!

Hi Celtic Rose,

My trip was great! Thank you for asking.. It started rainning today at about noon so we all headed home its a good thing we did because it is still rainning! I missed you too! What am I going to do when your gone for a week..? sad.gif I will be anxious for you to return..

Hope your listening to Highlander? I just requested Jamesies favorite song..Be sure to vote!!! I like the one on Tribal Waves the best...

Talk soon smile.gif

Hi Rindy! I had to get off the computer to discuss vacation plans with Fred before he made some phone calls. That was why he was yapping at me. So I didn't get to hear Clans Unite. Did Highlander Radio play it? I always vote for my favorite songs! wink.gif Hope you have a good night. We are having brush fires again and from that bad storm we had a guy get struck by lightening and died! The guy was standing at the grave side of his son's when it happened. See why I don't like lightening? unsure.gif Cooler weather here though. Things are supposed to be 96 tomorrow.

Everyone have a good Memorial Day!

Hello everyone.

I am up much to early today sad.gif So I'm playing around with the photo album options. I added a few pictures of my good friends. I have to add more once I get a decent camera.

Today is my family's annual baseball game. It's always a blast. I just hope it doesn't rain unsure.gif

BluegrassLady, I hope your back feels better soon.

Rindy, I'm glad to hear your trip was fun and I hope you have as much fun on yours, Rose.

Hope everyone enjoys Memorial Day smile.gif

Hi everyone. I thought I would say hello before I go to bed. I worked last night and I have to work tonight too. But thats okay it started to rain last night and it is still raining. So I wouldn't get to do anything anyway. I went to Westville, GA this past Saturday. It is south of Columbus, GA and is an 1850 style town. The Scottish Country dancer performed. We had a lot of fun. Between our performances there was a re-enactment of a Creek Indian attack on the village. Well I have to go. I hope everyone has a good holiday.

Hi Celtic Rose, now that is your time to go! How awful..Won't be long and you will be on your way to Oregon that should be so fun.. Are you taking your dogs?

Hi emerald-good luck with your photo album. I haven't scrapbooked in awhile. Seems like I get started on the forum and it takes most of my time.

Gwenlee, sounds like you had a real fun weekend thats great!!

Enjoy the little bit that is left of the Holiday...

Hey gwenlee! good to hear from you! How was Gatlinburg? Did you make it up there? Were you able to see and hear Clann An Drumma? Just wondering what you thought. Wondered if you met Snuffy too! Well take care and don't work too hard. Glad you had a good time in south GA.

Hi Em! Hope you had good weather today for your game. I forgot to look at your photo album before I posted this but will take a gander. I never can get the photo album here to work for me. I keep getting this "javascript error" and nobody knows how to fix it! sad.gif

Hey Rindy! No we are flying to Oregon so we have a critter sitter taking care of the dogs here. They love it there, but I sure do hate leaving them. Been checking out Mapquest for our drive from Portland airport to the small town Fred's brother lives in. We wanted to rent a car anyway so we could see different parts of Oregon. Also been checking the weather up there and it is COLD and WET! ohmy.gif

Happy Memorial Day to everyone else.

Oh, OR she is so beautiful!! How precious!! Keep the pics coming!!!

Thanks JP for the CAD reference!! I felt kinda foolish asking! Not sure I have ever heard them! Now I'll have to if everyone here likes them so well!

Hope everone had a good weekend, and preceeding week!! I spent most of the week in my childrens room making them put all of their toys in garbage bags and then giving them all to me!!! (If they won't pick them up on their own then they don't really need them do they?!)

This weekend my hubby, the kids, and I tried to go fishing but it rained most of the time we were on the lake so we came home. So far nobody has gotten sick! Hope that luck remains!!

Ròs, just wanted to let you know that I'm hooked now! I read Outlander the other day and am completely besotted with the whole series! I am now reading the outlandish companion, just to get a better feel for the story, and then I'll pick back up where I left off! Excellent writing!!

Well, I hope everyone survived the weekend, it's been too rainy here to do anymore gardening so I suppose I will have to settle for dishes and laundry, ick!!! Take care all!

Hey everyone! Wanted to drop by and say hello.
Had a wonderful weekend: took friday off, making a four-day weekend. The weather in central Ohio has been absolutely gorgeous! Highs in the 70s, occasional rain shower, then clear skies afterwards! Couldn't ask for better.
Beautiful baby OR!

Hope all is well for every one else!

What a beautiful day we had in Kentucky, sunny and in the high 70's. Went to the doctor's today for my back...he said he thought I had pulled or strained a couple of muscles. He gave me some muscle relaxers, some anti-inflammatory meds and pain pills. Said to go home, rest and I should start to feel better in a couple of days. I asked him if he thought I would beable to attend the Glasgow Games this weekend. Was told that as long as I didn't do any Scottish dancing it was up to me!! biggrin.gif I am trying to do what I was told, but it is kind of hard to do since two of our grandsons are spending the week with us. rolleyes.gif

OR....what wonderful pictures. Coira is so precious.

Posted by: CelticRose 31-May-2005, 05:53 PM
OR! My gosh! Is it my imagination or has Coira grown already? ohmy.gif I tell you this honestly, she is one very beautiful baby girl! I loved all the pics. The sunglasses was really cute, but my fave was of you and her. Nice tattoo you got there too! wink.gif Keep the pics coming. How are you all doing? Are you getting sleep?

Hey Sonee! I wondered where you had been. I had been missing you. Sorry about the rain spoiling your weekend fishing trip. You all seem to be getting rain but us. I am so glad to hear that you are enjoying the Outlander series. And that is a great idea to be reading the Outlandish Companion along with it as you really learn a lot about different things that are not included in the books. I recommend everybody to get the Companion. Diana Gabaldon is going to be at our Highland games in July. It is three hours from me and I really want to go but hubby doesn't want to. Boo hoo. So I am trying to find someone to ride up there with. So far no luck. sad.gif

Hey JP! Good to see ya. Glad you had a great weekend and your having nice weather! Hope work is going well too.

BGL! I am so glad you went to the doctor. Get some rest so you can go to the Glasgow games and see Clann An Drumma perform! biggrin.gif

Hello to everyone else!

Posted by: BluegrassLady 01-Jun-2005, 04:53 AM
G'morning everyone....thanks for all the good thoughts. Boy, what a difference a day makes. My back feels a lot better this morning. The meds are doing a great job. Now that I am feeling better, it's going to be hard to follow the doctors orders to just rest. smile.gif However, I have my eyes on the bigger picture, which is to beable to go to the Glasgow Highland Games on Saturday, so I'll be good!! biggrin.gif

Rindy and Rose...I am leaving my dancing shoes at home!! I have heard so much about how great both Clan An Drumma and Seven Nations are and am looking forward to seeing them perform. Both on my first festival.....WOW!

Rose...I hope that your hubby changes his mind about the festival. I'm hoping that my hubby enjoys our first festival. Since he does enjoy celtic music, I think he willl. If so, I plan on going to many more!

The sun is just rising...what a beautiful start to the day! Guess I'll pick out a book to read while I rest on the chaise lounge on the deck. Maybe following the doctor's instructions won't be so bad... cool.gif

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful day, this first day of June!
