Rock of Ages (the original tune,NOT the new one! - my father used to sing that to me)
Be Still My Soul
It is Well
A Mighty Fortress
The Old Rugged Cross
Victory in Jesus (sung that one with my hubby at church)
The Church's One Foundation

That's just a few of my favorites!

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.""
Psalm 91:1-2

"Be what you would seem to be--or, if you'd like it put more simply--Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise." from "Alice in Wonderland"

You're Catholic, right biggrin.gif ?

My favorite hymns:
Amazing Grace
How Great Thou Art
On Eagles' Wings
Nearer My God To Thee
City Of God
Be Not Afraid
The Prayer of Saint Francis
Hail Mary Gentle Woman

I have instructed my family, should it fall to them, that these are all to be played at my funeral. "Amazing Grace" is to be played, by a bagpiper, at the graveside service.

Yep. biggrin.gif Ten year convert. Went through an angonizing decision process to get there too. But it's been worth it. Great stuff is happening! Found a site the other day that plays Catholic rap music. Unbelievable.

And ditto on the pipes being played although I may include an Enya song somewhere in there.

Isn't it amazing how us Catholics are the largest single Christian denomination, yet all the hymn CDs are mainly Protestant hymns? I looked through my library system's database (my library participates in a reciprocating agreement between suburban libraries) and could not find one CD of all Catholic hymns.

We had a conference at our church this weekend sponsored by Voice of the Martyrs and at the end of the service today (Sunday) we sang "The church's one foundation". WEll, it has always been one of my favorites, but singing the entire hymn after hearing and seeing what the persecuted church is suffering, it has taken on a whole new meaning. Wow, what a hymn!

Gwynhwyvar, I especially like the last verse.

Yet she on earth hath union
with God the Three in One,
and mystic sweet communion
with those whose rest is won.
O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we
like them, the meek and lowly,
on high may dwell with thee.
