Hey... Just cruising through the forum. There are 122 pages of discussion, spanning several years, and lots of topics. Some of the questions never got answered sad.gif

So... here's the challenge! Spend a bit of time in the forum. If you find a question unanswered, or one that needs an update, and you have the knowledge or expertise... then answer it!

Knowledge is always evolving; help keep the forum up-to-date.

Besides... it's great way to spend the occasional quiet evening; a good cup of coffee or tea, Celtic Radio playing on the headphones, and reading & answering on the forum.

Really great idea, David. I haven't taken any time to really explore everything the site has to offer. I know there's a lot here and I'm hopin' to really do some looking around with retirement around the corner and time to do what I want to do. taking your suggestion would be a great way to get into it.

You mean... That's not YOU??? Oh, the shame!

So, what are you retiring from, in particular?

I work for Schmidt Financial Group in Northbrook, IL. We use insurance and investment products to help high net worth individuals shelter their wealth from estate and income taxes. This allows them to choose the causes they wish to support instead of giving government control. My position includes client service, licensing, contracting, payables, office management, payroll, and basically anything that doesn't directly impact sales and/or marketing. All in all, I guess you could say I'm a Jill of all Trades. All Hallow's Eve will be my 21st work anniversary.

Tentative official retirement date will be September 30, 2016 with a move to Santa Fe, NM shortly thereafter.

Well, there you have it.......my employment history and life plan in a nutshell!! king.gif tongue.gif

What are your dreams??

Playing with money...sounds like fun, even if it's not yours smile.gif

Hey...any of those big-time investors want to throw some $$ at Teton & District Performing Arts, I wouldn't object!

Why NM? Just warmer, or do you have family there?

My Dreams???

I grew-up in the military; my father was in the Air Force for 22 years. I had planned to be a lifer, and retire from the military. The Navy wanted to send me to Medical School. But, I got a permanent disqualification because of "flat feet." Now... they take people with felonies unsure.gif

So... I became a paramedic, and specialized in pediatric trauma. After 15 years of seeing little people die, I left the field.

For the next couple of years I bounced from boring job to boring job. I ended-up at Fedex. It wasn't too bad, and I got to show-off my sexy legs and flirt with the secretaries on my route;)

I was there about 7 years, when I had a terrible accident. Both my feet hit "black ice" and I did a flip in the air. I killed my back, and about ripped my right shoulder off.

Lets just say... my days of adventure & danger were over.

So, now... I play pipes at wedding and funerals. I hand-make sgian dubhs, I perform with my family, and other bits and pieces as they come-up.

I guess I have arrived at my dream; being with my family more, doing lots of Scottish stuff. But, it was a hell of a way getting here. And, I was hoping for a bit better retirement king.gif

That's me, in a BIG nut shell.
