As most of you know, I usually don't push items to sell, donations or fill the site with popups & advertisements. Over the past 6 months I have slowly been collecting some items for sale that will help pay for the costs of the site. This will eventually include T-shirts, but really my focus is first and foremost on providing a good website that functions properly.

A little experiment I am trying is through ebay. Killian, my wife, has setup an account for me and is showing me the ins and outs.

I have decided to place one of our Celtic Cross necklaces on auction at Ebay. Starting bid is .99 cents, which is very much discounted from our regular price of $14.99. You can access the auction here:

Celtic Cross Ebay Auction

The purpose of the auctions are to raise funds to purchase a new hard drive for the radio server. We are very much running out of room with all of the music files. Plus the hard drive is going on 3 years running 24 hours a day, so I am a little concern with it failing in the near future. Our hope is to obtain a very big hard drive that will store not only our music files, but also serve as a back-up to our website and databases.

Ok, let the bidding begin...

Just out of curiosity, how big is the hard drive? Is it SCSI or IDE? And how big a hard drive are you planning to buy?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Paul, I was curious to see if I did a search for Celtic Crosses on Ebay, instead of using the page that you have listed. Turns out there are 1174 listings for Celtic Cross. It may be a bit hard for people to come across your listing, with all of that for people to wade through. Maybe, it needs to be under a different heading.

Just a thought.

Currently there is a 40 gig IDE in the radio server. In addition to running the broadcast software, the radio server runs our mail server too. We use it to store alot of old prior scripts and backups of various parts of the site.

We are down to around a GIG of space, which is not a whole lot considering the rate of new CD's we are receiving. We also convert everything into 128 kps because in the future we might have a true CD quality stream.

Probably will obtain one of those 160 gig drives which will give us plenty of room to grow and also server as our major backup drive.

I'm thinking mid-summer we will need to upgrade. Oh and it has been running for 3 years straight which does not make me feel very comfortable.

Thanks for the suggestion about where to place the cross. I am new to ebay, so learning the ins and outs of it. I also a lot of about new tartan books that I will be putting up soon.

CelticRose,

We threw in a little bonus with the Celtic Cross. It is the least we can do to thank you for your very generous bid.

You will have to wait until you get the package though! wink.gif

I had an idea (for better or for worse)

It would be neat if we could have mousepads or checkbook covers
with Celtic Art.
