We will be introducing a new Social Media Feed on Celtic Radio that will track just about everything that people do here on the site. From updating your profile, adding a friend, winning a CD and more. All in all about 25 actions will now be displayed in the Social Media Feed.
The feed will be displayed on our main page, at the bottom of the community message forum and in a page by itself.
In addition, we will be enhancing everyone's profile page with new features and information along with some special functions that notify you by email when your friends are online or post a message.
More details will be coming soon, we expect these new features to be completed within a few weeks. Expect our main page to be changed a bit to support the new Celtic Radio Social Media feed.
We will keep this thread updated with the latest editions to the Celtic Radio Social Media Feed.
Today we did some work on identifying Male and Female members who have not selected a member profile picture (avatar). This is important once the feed starts to have an appropriate picture displayed.
So, if you do not elect a profile avatar, it will be displayed as either a male or female picture:
Female:
Male:
We also have created the main Social Network Feed located here:
Again, this is just in the initial stages. We are currently building some functions to support the feed and eventually will have over 25 actions available. This might allow our members to get to know each other better!
As we had more functions and actions we will post the progress here. Once we are completely with this project this feed will be available on our main page and on our community pages.

Will there be an opt out feature for those folks who don't want what they do here displayed? Just a question.

Identify all of the actions that can be showed on our Social media feed. Will probably have requests, song ratings, favorite songs, journal entries and more items from the site which will really give a nice picture of everything that is going on.
Photographs & Profile pictures will show a thumbnail preview.
Feel free to make any suggestions on our new Social Media Feed as it is developed!
Our work on the social media feed has stopped while we do a little work on the forum account page. Removing some repetitive items and also reworking some of the pages.
Next steps will be the removal of AOL, YAHOO & MSN identities to be replaced with Google Circles URL, Twitter Identify and Skype Identity. Guess it is a sign of the times as we remove older identities that really no one is using anymore.
After that we will be doing some major work on everyone's profile page. Won't list all of the enhancements, but one major new feature will be the ability to leave a comment on someone's profile page.
So, once this work is done then we will continue with building the social media feed.
Pretty much now just a matter of adding each activity to the feed, building a small piece of code into the system is all it takes. We estimate our work should be completed within a week. The final stage will be adding the live feed to our main page. Will require some exploration of AJAX.
We might build in an hourly update that shows total people listening, site up and running, etc. stuff like that.
For an Internet Radio site, I am not sure if something like this exists out there, but if anyone knows of an example, please post here.
Happy to report that we have completed recent enhancements and bug fixes to the Celtic Radio Community including the completion of our Social Media Feed that can now be found on our main page.
See above for some of the new features and enhancements.
Our main page now is now the central location to see everything that is going on in the website and broadcasts.
