How do you unwind?

Myself, I like to listen to music. Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast.

I go to be people that help me get out of my tense phases...ie my boyfriend. He always has a way of making me unwind be it him teasing me or giving me a hug. He doesnt know he does it but he know exactly what to do to make me smile.

Ahh, a few wee drams of a fine single malt while I settle back in my chair. I remove myself a bit from the whirling of the world and become more of a spectator.

My gentle bride will be busy watching her "chick shows" on the TV, and that provides me with somewhat mindless entertainment (I DO try to not get involved with the plot lines of the show so that I WON'T become as interested in the show as she is. I'm NOT going to get upset if Rory and Lorelai have a fight, or if Luke says the wrong thing to Lorelai, or if Sookie goes off on one of her rants, or if Emily and Richard make another demand, or ... biggrin.gif )

My trusty dog is at my side, and all is well with the world. Tomorrow morning I will return to a bankrupt company with its pay cuts, and family health issues, and family relationship problems, and ... but right now they can't touch me as I'm just a spectator and not a player.

Reading the Bible helps too. Reading about the problems that King David had, and then reading about how he found peace and comfort in the midst of it all, helps my soul.

relax??? what's that? I'm one of those that are constantly tense. But when I do have a rare moment or two to unwind I'm usually listening/singing/playing music.

If I didn't have weekly band rehearsals I'd probably go off the deep end and never come back...something about blowing off steam through an instrument for a good solid 2 hrs and then going off to the pub for a drink that makes the world good for a while.

Other things I've tried but never stuck to...stitching, reading, going for walks...
but my music gets me out of the house and socializing with folks other than those I work with so that's pretty relaxing.

I learned how to meditate when I was very young...I can clear my mind of all thoughts.

I also go out with friends and just listen to how their day was and I usually feel better after a few drinks.

Another way is when I can help a friend cheer up and unwind...I always feel better.
