Some men are drawn to oceans, they cannot breathe unless the air is scented with a salty mist. Others are drawn to land that is flat, and the air is sullen and is leaden as August. My people were drawn to mountains- Earl Hamner Jr.
One of my westies is Dougal but the other is Magic (he had his name when we got him). My twin grandsons are Colin and Gavin and one of my granddaughters is Heather. Except for the dog, we didn't really plan to give them Gaelic names, they were just names my kids liked.
Oh, good Lord. I haven't been in here for FAR too long. Thank you SO MUCH Catriona. Angela wants to stick with Scots names, and so far, she's got Scotia or Scotland for a girl's name. Hopefully this will help her out a bit, because I think she's got some duds there. Scotia's actually a nice name for a girl, but I think the meaning will be lost on a child growing up in Nova Scotia.
Oh, we have decided Coira is one we like. I told her the other day, if we want two boys and two girls, then we'll just keep on having kids until we get at least two of each.
She didn't like that idea though.

"I am a Canadian by birth, but I am a Highlander by blood and feel under an obligation to do all I can for the sake of the Highlanders and their literature.... I have never yet spoken a word of English to any of my children. They can speak as much English as they like to others, but when they talk to me they have to talk in Gaelic."
