With such a mild winter this year I'm already looking forward to this year's festival being held at the Maier Festival Grounds in Milwaukee, WI. The dates of the 26th annual festival are Aug. 17-20...(gee a whole week before my b-day again...who's buyin me meade to celebrate early?)
Anyway, was hopping around the website (www.irishfest.com) and thought I'd share what's going on so far.
2006 IRISH FEST ENTERTAINERS (as of 12-6-05 more on the way as they have 5-8 stages to fill for the whole run)
Bridies David Munnelly Band The Elders (really looking forward to hearing them after all I've heard here on CR) Enter the Haggis Gaelic Storm (but of course I'm going to see these guys!) Irish Rovers (oh cool another CR band) Le Vent du Nord Makem & Spain Brothers Sliabh Notes Tom Sweeney (always a class act) Tommy Makem (like any irish fest is complete without him!) The Young Dubliners The "Nova Scotia Kitchen Party" featuring: Buddy MacDonald Beolach Mary Jane Lamond Jerry Holland Davie Gunning The Cottars J P Cormier

Senara-ism : Life is like a theatrical production only you get to be actor, director, and audience all at once. So break a leg, sit back and enjoy the show!

don't fret...there's still time for Barleyjuice to get in there....you know that the line-up isn't solid until maybe a week before the festival anyway.
What is the Dave Rowe Trio? It’s a new acoustic group from Maine. It is just a little bit folk, just a little bit bluegrass, just a little bit Celtic, just a little bit traditional, and a whole lot of fun. The band is the continuation of a legacy in Maine music which started with Schooner Fare, the band Dave’s late father, Tom Rowe, founded with brothers Steve and Chuck Romanoff. The legacy continued when Dave and dad formed Rowe by Rowe in 1993 and expanded when they added Denny Breau in 1998 to become Turkey Hollow.
With the passing of his dad in January of 2004, Dave felt a need and responsibility to continue to promote and grow the beautiful musical garden which was left to him. He asked two of Maine’s finest musicians, fiddler Edward Howe and bassist Kevin O’Reilly to join him to become the Dave Rowe Trio. (see website for more info)
I was hoping to have accomplished enough carving this year to apply to the artist's section at the Milwaukee fest. I've come close but not close enough. I'll hopefully have enough done in order to send an application down to Milwaukee for 2007. The problem with working festivals, I've come so close to seeing so many great bands.
You'll just have to take the weekend off this year then Keltic and come party with us. That way when you're here in the artist village you won't feel like you're missing out on so much.
Just going to repost the entertainer's list for Milwaukee Irish Fest. As always you can go to www.irishfest.com for more info on the festival. New addition of Scythian on the list since it's last posting in early April. Only 3 1/2 months left till Irish Fest woooo hooooooooooo

Looks like the entertainment director has added in all the small stages into the Entertainers list. Celtic Keep and U2Zoo being two local groups I've heard previous years and were impressed with. Anyway here's the latest update. And it includes the vairous Dance troops that will be performing on the Dance stages as well.
