They say, three things were left from paradise : The stars, the flowers and CHILDREN!
Welcome Hailey Jo, may you have a wonderful life that treats you gently; congratulations to the young parents and of course to the grand - parents; now how does this feel, Grandpa?

This morning at 5:55 AM, my new grandson, Colten James Taasevigen, was born! He is about a month early, and as such his lungs are not as developed as the Dr. would have liked. He will be spending a few days in the incubator and then if he does not improve he will be going to Yakima, the closest MAJOR hospital. Even a month early he is as big as average babies at 6lbs 3 1/2 oz. His dad was 9/8 and his big sister was 9/2. If he had waited full term he would probably have been right in there with our family average. He is doing OK, but the Dr. will be keeping a close eye on him for awhile. This is the Dr. that delivered our son, and this is his first 2nd generation, so C.J. is pretty special to him as well! I will post photos soon and keep y'all updated.
Dear Lord, lest I continue in my complacent ways, help me to remember that someone died for me today. And if there be war, help me to remember to ask and to answer "am I worth dying for?" - Eleanor Roosevelt
The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools. -- Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903)
Dogshirt, your clan is growing! Many, many blessings on your new grandson. He's a lucky little guy, and I am sure he is going to be both spoiled and also very at home in the big natural world with his grandpa -- let's see some pix soon as you can get them, and let's also hear how his sister and Otto are greeting him into the family.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
Thanks all!! The latest update is that he has been transported to Yakima, where they have a GREAT neo-natal intensive care unit. He was on 100% oxygen when he left, but was breathing around the ventilator. By the time we got down there they had reduced the ox. level to 36% and by the time I left him they had reduced it to 24%. He is responding well, and the only concern is his lungs and they told me they are improving by the minute. They said he could come home in as little as 3 days or up to 3 weeks, but they are very optimistic. More as I know it.
Congratulations on your new baby grandson!!! It sounds like he's getting the best care there is and improving really fast. I'm sure he will be home soon where he will have you wrapped around his little finger in no time, if he hasn't all ready. There isn't anything on this earth more precious than a sweet baby!
Congratulations on the new grand - baby! It sounds like he is doing a great job; seems he is a little fighter. These are good news and I'm sure you will have him back home very soon and will spoil him rotten!
C.J. is now off the ventilator and is just taking additional oxygen nasaly. The daughter-in-law is out of the hospital and they will bestaying at the hospital down there in a camp trailor that her father took down. The hospital has hook ups there for just such cases. They tried feeding him last night, but he is working so hard at breathing that he is not "multi-tasking". So that will wait a day or two.
That is all the latest
