QUOTE (Muircheartach @ 30-Nov-2007, 10:04 AM)
Hi Lil,

Thanks for the info on NetFlix - I have a friend who has been working all sorts of crazy hours and doesn't get to go out to movies much - most of her free time is late at night. She is thinking of signing up to a movies-by-mail service, but doesn't know of anyone who has it, so I'll be passing your comments to her! Overall, it sounds like the service works well and you certainly sound happy with it!

My mom and dad lived in Spring Hill for many years until mom died - dad lives in Brooksville now, but he has also been thinking about getting something like NetFlix, since he's in his 80's and doesn't go out that much. The service sounds simple enough - go online and pick the movies you want, they're mailed to you, you watch them, then you mail them back. Pretty easy!

I agree with your point of view, too - movies are a time to live somewhere else - to escape realism and "enjoy the ride"!

Have a great day!

You're very welcome. It's quick to pick movies and they'll even give recommendations based on what you've rented and rated.
We have the $14.99 a month type. It's what they recommend and it works well for us. It's easy to sign up and quick to start. Depending (I think) on the time of day you sign up, your first movies will come 1-2 days and after that, when you send them back you get your next movies a day after they receive them. Shipping is very quick, I sent them back in the 4 pm mail run and by 10 am the next day, they sent an email to let me know they got them and that my next movies would arrive the next day, which they did do. Sent some more back today, but won't get new ones till monday.

I love Spring Hill most of the time, it's getting a lil too big for my taste though. We lived in Bksville a few years ago, as well.

Both, the tree came with white lights, but there weren't enough for my taste, so I added colored ones, too.

You have all your decorations put up.

We just joined NetFlix last week, because we realized there are a lot of movies we want to see, but don't necessarily want to buy, which is what we usually do, and after I checked it out and got some feedback, I'm having fun with it. I watched "Meet The Robinson's" yesterday, which was very good for a toon movie, not your typical disney fare, and "The Devil Wears Prada," read the book and had to see the movie, which was pretty good, we had Live Free or Die Hard, "Ratatouille" and Fantastic 4, for Thanksgiving and they were very good. I've got Blood and Chocolate (werewolf movie) on order next as well as The Santa Clause 3 and will be adding Pirates 4 this weekend. I'm taking advantage of it to see movies I otherwise wouldn't get to see.

We did buy Transformers , which I absolutely loved (it spent 2 weeks straight in the DVD player) and Spiderman 3, which was also pretty good. I tend to not be like a lot of people who complain that a movie isn't realistic enough. I don't go to a movie for realism, I go to escape from life and I suspend my disbelief and just enjoy the ride.

I don't watch a whole lot of tv either, although it is on most of the time, its usually on low, so it's just kind of there. When I watch TV, I tend to watch either the History Channel, or Sci-Fi and Food network. I love 24 and would love to watch it regularly, but with a hubby who won't hand over the remote after he gets home, and channel surfs constantly, it's hard to get into anything.

I used to watch Nip/Tuck, but it got WAY too weird unsure.gif and I just couldn't take it, lol.

The movie that the winner of "Who Wants To Be a Superhero" made? Dreck. It was awful. Sometimes Sci-Fi makes good movies, but most of the time, they're just baaaaaaaaad, and I have way less tolerance for B movies than I used to.

The shows I like are,

Stargate Atlantis,
NCIS (Love love love Mark Harmon)
CSI Miami, NY and the Original (thank goodness for Reruns, lol)

Just about anything on History or Food, the Barbarians (I think that's right) was awesome, at least what I got to see of it.

These days, I don't watch much in the daytime, usually too busy playing with our new granddaughter, Samantha.

do you know I have missed this place? Can I say that I am about to get my work schedule changed again? do you know that it is not my choice, that I am being forced into it and that if I don't do it, I don't have a job? Do you know I have contacted Human Resources for my company? Do you think I will be forced to quit?

Do you know how hard it is to find a job without driving to Tampa????

QUOTE (stevenpd @ 25-Apr-2006, 03:45 PM)
Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's
Christmas Party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't
taste like alcohol at all. He didn't even remember how he got home from
the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did anything wrong.

Jack had to force himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees
is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And,
next to them, a single red rose!

Jack sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and
pressed. He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order,
spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins,
cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the
bathroom mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the
mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his
wife in lipstick! "Honey, breakfast is on the stove. I left early to
go get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight. I love you,
darling!
Jillian".

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast,
steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the
table eating. Jack asks, "Son... what happened last night?"

"Well, you came home around 3 A.M., drunk and out of your mind. You fell
over the coffee table and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway,
and got that black eye when you ran into the door."

Confused, he asked his son, "So, why is everything in such perfect order
and so clean. I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?"

His son replies, "Oh THAT! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she
tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, lady, I'm
married!"

Broken Coffee Table $89.99
Hot Breakfast $4.20
Two Aspirins $0.38
Saying the right thing, at the right time.............PRICELESS!

Perfect, I love it!!

My favorite old movie is, "Fobidden Planet" with Leslie Nielsen ( waaaaay before those silly movies he does nowadays, Naked Gun 1000 or whatever the current one is) and the original Robby the Robot. We also love the old Errol Flynn movies ("I'll not kiss you till you ask me to and say my name 3 times" To Maureen O'Hara --his name was Jamie Boy) as well as the B&W Universal Horror Mummy movies and I'm a Hammer Films nut. I agree, bring back the innuendo!

A duck waddles into a bar and hops on a stool. The bartender snarls, "What'll you have?"

The duck says, "Got any grapes?"

The bartender spits and says "We don't have grapes here, we serve drinks, now get out!"

The duck hops off the stool and waddles out.

The next day, the same duck waddles into the same bar, hops on a stool, looks the bartender in the eye and asks, "Got any grapes?"

The bartender, irritated, says, "I told you yesterday we don't serve grapes here, we serve drinks, now GET OUT!"

The duck hops off the stool and waddles out.

The next day, the same duck waddles into the same bar and hops on a stool, looks at the bartender, and asks, "Got any grapes?"

The bartender, infuriated, pounds his fist on the bar and yells at the duck, "I told you two times we don't serve grapes here, we serve drinks! If you ask me that ONE MORE TIME I'm going to nail your beak to the bar! NOW GET OUT!"

With that, the duck shrugged, hopped off the stool and waddled out.

The next day, the same duck waddled into the same bar, hopped on a stool, looked the bartender in the eye and asked, "Got any nails?"

The bartender, puzzled, said no.

The duck then looked him square in the eye and said, "Got any grapes?"

heheh, I love that pinball game! I'm pretty good at it cause when I was a teen, I must have spent hours playing the pinball games at home (my stepdad bought me one, full size) and at the game place downtown, Scratch and Tilt. I could spend about 2 hours paying on 2 quarters!

As for Sudoku, I'm with you, I suck at math!
