| Hi Scott and welcome to the forum. Just a thought not sure how you feel about this but what about the US talk show curcuit? I know I've seen Hypnotists on Daily Talk Shows like Montel Williams and Morry Povich (I know the second is mispelled just not sure of exact spelling right off hand) but I know these two have had hypotists on the show before and it's always good fun. They usually will pick audience members to help with the show and you get them to do all sorts of weird stuff is always a fun show to watch. Just a thought and it would be national TV so good exposure which might open up other doors. |

| Introducing Scottish Hypnotist, Scott Burke Firstly I would like to say hello to everyone, and I would also like to introduce myself. My name is Scott Burke and I am from Inverness in Scotland. I work as a hypnotist, and I use my work for both therapy and entertainment, and it is the latter that I would like to discuss. Personally, for some time now, I have been trying very hard to "break into the American Market". I am mostly aiming at towns/cities with populations of 100,000's as opposed to millions because most large cities tend to be spoilt for choice with regards to entertainment. What I would like to hear is information from 1) Scottish acts currently working in America, and how they are doing. 2) People in America who would be interested in my act 3) People who can advice on how an entertainer can become "known" and booked in the States. | Hi Scott, Welcome to the Highlander Radio forum. Living in the Boston area myself, I can vouch that there are many opportunities in the night clubs for entertainers. I am no expert on this matter, my interest are purely in Celtic music and such. There are a number of advantages to the Boston area, we have a lot of irish/scottish decendents that might be interested and accept your entertainment. There are lots of college kids that need entertainment at the clubs! (& drinks too). Boston is located in New England, very accessible to 7 - 8 states all within an hours drive. The cons: It is very expensive to live here! Traffic is terrible and in Boston there is the world's largest public works project called "THE BIG DIG". The say that Rome was not built in a day, but that same anology can not be used fo this project. A constant state of construction in the downtown. That's pretty much all the advise I have to offer. Perhaps someone else can kick in a few ideas. Regards, |
