Seems like just yesterday we were at 10,000! What a great achievement!

All the props in the world to Paul and Killian for the hard work, plus all those who have been here from the beginning to help lay the foundation for us to have this great place to met and listen to great music.

Onward to 17,000 and beyond!

Congrats to you the founders. And just to let you know that I'm glad I found this site by coincidence on Google searching for Celtic music.

Thanks from LOA clap.gif

Rindy, the idea of a "Celtic Radio Reunion" was born in 2003. It was suggested to have it in 2008 to give everyone the possibility to save enough money to be able to participate.
Annabelle and A Shrule Egan agreed on organising everything for it. They spent a lot of private time and money for driving around and spend time at places to check out places that would offer all requires for such an event. They finally found it in Bethlehem, PA. They were there contacting musicians etc and advertising Celtic Radio and we all still benefit from that.
It was meant to have annual meetings there until the BIG ONE in 2008.
Although everyone knew long before when the event would take place only a handful of members showed up.
I think everyone can imagine that this was a bit dissapointing after all the efforts both had made. Obviously the interest in having a Celtic Radio Gathering wasn't too big and hasn't increased in the following years.

This is what A Shrule Egan expresses with his comment, he didn't mean to be funny.

Maybe there is still a chance for a big party; it would need folks ready to organise it and members ready to participate, not only to tell they would but also to show up in the end. 8 of 16.000 wouldn't be a good result, I think.
I hope though a Celtic Radio Gathering was possible some day....

I wish I had found this site back when it first started. I truly am grateful to all of you who made this place such a fine community. From the bottom of my heart to the tips of my toes- and everything in between- thanks!!!!

California is just a wee bit too far away for me to make any kind of gatherings, but my heart is with you.

I didn't realize that my mere mention of a gathering would stir up so much! Whether we all meet in person or not, I still feel as if I know y'all - and only after one week! Totally amazing!

Hello every one!

Have not been here in a while and glad to see things can still get exciting occassionally!

It has been nice meeting folls on CR while I'm out at festivals. It's wonderful the friends you can make.

Find others on the system that live close to you , pick a festival and meet up! You'll be rewarded with new frienships to build on.

biggrin.gif Fortunately, I have a sense of humor and don't blame you. I was just making a point to your suggestion.

It is true. Annabelle and I spent a lot of time and money trying to find the right place to have a gathering. We actually flew around the country, attending various Celtic festivals and then checking out campgrounds and local hotels. During some of those trips, we would hook up with some of the other members of CR. So, from that, we have made some great friendships and still hook up with some of those folks. Most, who do not hang out on CR any longer.

Will there be a CR gathering in 2008. I don't know but I do know, that Annabelle and I will not be running it.

By the way, since you are from Georgia. There is a direct flight from Atlanta to Allentown, Pa. Bethlehem is 4 miles from the airport and that is where the CR party was to be, during the Celtic Classic, in September. Just your typical rowdy 400,000 Celts in one place. laugh.gif http://www.celticfest.org/2007CelticClassic/index.html
You still have time to make plans.

Thank you to everyone that has helped promote Celtic Radio and get us to 16,000 members!

Its amazing to see the growth and the interest continuing! We know that most of it is by word of mouth and for that we are deeply grateful. Of course, who can resist some of the awesome music that you hear on our broadcast. This truly is a meeting place between listeners and musicians.

The website part of Celtic Radio is actually very small when you consider our listenership. Actually, we don't monitor this enough but I just ran some quick numbers combining the total number of listening hours for all 3 of our Channels: Highlander Radio, Celtic Moon and Celt-Rock-Radio. The total listening hours of all 3 channels combined places us the 43rd most listened to on Live365! Yesterday we had 1,684 listeners!

I personally would love to see a Celtic Radio gathering. Although some of the logistics of such an event are complicated by the fact that this is a global community. With everyone so spread out, it would be difficult to get a substantial number of people together in one place for an event. Who knows, we might do something like this in the future. Our focus up to this point has been more on design, development and implementation.

As we slowly switch gears over the next 6 months, who knows what might happen? wink.gif

Thanks again to everyone that has helped us reach these fantastic numbers. And to think 6 years ago we were happy with having 3 simultaneous listeners and 20 members! biggrin.gif
