For the last few years, there has been an increase in Highland Games and Gailic music. Seven Nations to Gailic Storm to Natilie McMaster to Glenngary Bhouys. Tomorrow, I'm going to see Solas. If you've never heard them...please check them out for a mix of traditional and contemporary. A real treat.

Solas is a fantastic group. My only regret is that I didn't get to see them when Karan Casey was singing (not that I don't appreciate Deirdre Scanlon's voice). As a plus, John Doyle was still with them when I saw them. Anyways, whatever the line-up, Solas is a band not to be missed. Enjoy the show!!

[B] I saw Solas last night. Although I own almost all of their CD's, I've never had the opportuinity to see them live. They are incredibly talented. Something that even a CD cannot show. Deirdre's vocals stay with you for days. If you have a chance to see them, please do.
Of course, the Celtic bands out there are too numerous to count.
One of our favorites that we will see at least twice this summer is the Glenngary Bhouys. And Hanneke Cassel.....she is a local fave that has toured all over the last few years.
What are some of your favorites??? Please share!
Tim

For Gaelic music, I just LOVE Mary Jane Lamond. She has released three albums so far on Cd. She has a fourth one whcih was only released on cassette. There's narry a word of English on any of 'em!

Also, I love Karen Matheson and Capercaillie! Lots of good Gaelic tunes there. Runrig also has lots of Gaelic music and Distant Oaks is good too!

For Irish Gaelic, Altan and Solas are wonderful!
