Ok here is a listing of some of the rights that I have seen disappearing in the last few years some maybe longer. If you know of other ways these rights or others are being violated by government feel free to add to this thread.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
First my main cause is the income tax (federal for now) Last year Congressman Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland's 6th district agreed to see a petition for redress of greivances was answered as every member had received this petition into the legality and constitutionality of the federal income tax. To date he or any other member has seen that this petition is answered. To read about this issue and see the evidence for yourself that congress has denied us this very basic right visit the URL below
Now think I am nuts and that congress doesn't have to answer this petition? Then read this document written by the founding fathers in 1774 and see this quote
The influence of this right extends still farther. If money is wanted by Rulers, who have in any manner oppressed the people, they may retain it, until their grievances are redressed; and thus peaceably procure relief, without trusting to despised petitions, or disturbing the public tranquillity.
Think you have the right to freedom of speech and of the press? Then read this site and see how the court has forbidden this tax hater from selling his book or making public speeches on this subject
According to the ACLU his book is protected political speech and protected by the first amendment yet this wolf in judges robes has deprived this man from his right to print what he wants and speak of this issue.
How about searches by government agents at airports. While I agree we do need to be safe when traveling why should we have to go through long lines while government agents violate our 4rth amendment right to privacy? According to the Supreme Court we should not have to give up one right to exercise another
Near end of case just before footnotes second to last paragraph
QUOTE
U.S. Supreme Court SIMMONS v. UNITED STATES, 390 U.S. 377 (1968) 390 U.S. 377 SIMMONS ET AL. v. UNITED STATES. CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE SEVENTH CIRCUIT. No. 55. Argued January 15, 1968. Decided March 18, 1968.
we find it intolerable that one constitutional right should have to be surrendered in order to assert another.
While I realize this is not a tax case it does go to prove that the court feels that you should not have to give up one right in order to exercise another so why should I or you have to give up your right to privacy in order to exercise your right to liberty?
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
How about drivers liscense. Does a liscense make you a safe driver? If so then why do we have accidents? And since when do we have to get a liscense to exercise a right?
How about protesting which is also 1st amendment since when do we have to get a government permit to exercise a right?
Will add to this list as I get time. Feel free to add your own rights violations as well.
