I find it interesting that we spend billions of dollars on this war while the Education system has been laying off teachers, staff and administrators left and right. Me included. Our district had to cut $300,000 from the budget. Our English dept. had 3 teachers, one more than everyone else, plus I had made more money than they did, plus I had no prior experience. Just one bomb in Iraq would have more than paid our budget cut.

We started policing the world since teddy roosevelt. some feel it is our moral duty to help the less fortunate. why can't we help our own less fortunate? Stop giving tax breaks to companies that move overseas, stuff like that.

Well saw this last night and this is actually sick. Bush is now threatening to veto the 87 billion he's requested if congress attempts to convert any of it into loans.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Bush administration threatened for the first time Tuesday to veto an $87 billion package for Iraq and Afghanistan if Congress converts any Iraqi rebuilding money into loans.

So Bush just wants to give them all 87 billion and never expect is back. ARGH censored.gif censored.gif censored.gif censored.gif censored.gif

We still have not been paid back the money everyone borrowed from us during World War II, except for Sweden.

Well this is why I am so opposed to the current tax system because it gives the government our money to just throw away instead of using it where we need it.

If you or I did the same thing the IRS does we'd be charge with extortion. censored.gif

The really pathetic cost of this war are the 230 + American lives and many more Iraqi lives that have been lost to the Shrub's ego. The dollars should anger us all but the lives should outrage us. I support our troops but mourn for ever life lost.

I agree with that as well. I just wish I could have been in DC for the recent protest to demand our troops be brought home all of them not just those in Iraq and Afganastan.

No more playing world police. It's not our countries job alone to rid the world of scum.

That's ridiculous. This is a great way to put the cost in perspective. A thousand dollars every 3 seconds.

I also saw on TV that 14 billion dollars of our tax money is going towards a few thousand foster home kids. Each kid could have his or her own condo for this kind of money. Someone is making tons of money here.

I heard today the $87 billion passed the house and from what I gathered the senate is't going to have a normal vote on it it will get pushed through because some senators disagree with it but don't want to look like the bad guys not supporting the troops so instead it seems like it will pass and Shrub gets his way that some of this is given in grant form meaning it isn't a loan which means kiss YOUR money goodbye because it is YOUR money.

Add another 15 killed to that count and another 21 wounded.
