Thanks Rose, see my replies to your questions in the quoted area.

QUOTE (DesertRose @ 23-Mar-2009, 04:53 PM)
Hello Shadows! I loved all the photos!  I especially love the flower pics as I really enjoy taking photos of flowers myself.  That ice storm pic was really telling. That storm was to remember! Those doves look exactly like our desert mourning doves.  Is that what they are where you live? Well they are called morning doves, but not desert , atleast not yet.  Love the Cardinal!  We never see those where I live...boo hoo  And your major football team is called the Cardinals??? Go figure LOL!

I am very anxious for our desert flowers to bloom. I look outside every day. April is always the month to take these shots!

Look forward to seeing them!!!

Thanks Rose!

Ahhhh Shadows I love the squirrel photos. So cute eating the walnut. I like squirrels very much. The blue flowers I think might be grape hyacinth they took my breath away. What a beautiful color. I may have to get some of these.

Nice photos, Shadows! What software editing program are you using? I am just curious as I am trying to learn what I have, Picasa and Adobe Photoshop. Love the blue flowers. I don't believe I have seen those before. I love photographing wild life. Great close ups of the squirrels! Did you use a telephoto or did they allow you to get that close?!

Went on a desert photo walk yesterday. It was hotter than Hades out! I think I got a wee bit of heat exhaustion. Took about 147 photos that I have yet to go through. But guess what? I actually saw Cardinals! So there is a reason why they call our ball team the AZ Cardinals after all...LOL

I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro, Jasc Photo Album, and Olympus Studio 2.
Each has features that I like.

I used my 40 -150mm lens ( a ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 , 300mm (35mm equivalent) lens in a short 7.2cm body )
and was 6 feet away from the squirrel. We might be having to shoot the squirrel, it is getting very aggressive and starting to chase the cats, it was on our front porch 2 nights ago around 11pm climbing our screen door ( very out of the norm for a squirrel, we are beging to think it might be rabid. I was just outside right now letting in one of the cats and it was only about 3 feet away holding it's head real weird and moving slow...I think I am going to have to remove it today.

I visited your photo page and left you a comment, real nice photos Rose!

Thanks! I have been working with this new camera for awhile now and feel I am getting to know it like my old 35mm.

Here is another sign of new life and spring I found in the yard this week...after looking again today there are now 4 eggs in that nest...it is raining and I did not set up a shot so the momma bird could get back on her eggs!

user posted image

Yes I used flash on this one since the nest was deep inside a lilac bush and in the shade.

field behind the house.

I had forgotten about this one. A friend wanted us to look into having it made into a wallpaper border for her house.

I used my software to crop and make this look like a panorama.

Thank you to everone who is commenting and enjoying these photos.

As usual comments and edits are welcome.

DesertRose your pictures are amazing. Several took my breath away. I really loved the one of Riley with his kong toy. Makes me want a Sheltie again. Your doing fantastic with the camera. Cactus blooms can be so beautiful. Thank you for sharing all of these. I hope you will continue.
