Ohh really? I still use a couple of those on occasion too. Got a functional 128 as well. And a couple 1541's that store a whopping 170 Kb per disk smile.gif

C64 does kick but for what it is. Similar PC technologies to what's found on the 64 would be as follows:

MIDI
EGA
USB
EIDE
DMA

And that's just stock. I've got hardware for recording from a microphone, and have heard of ppl browsing the web in 256 color on one (don't ask me quite how they managed the 256 colors). Oh, and they were chatting on IRC at the same time, in a fully graphical environment. Try that on an IBM PC made in the same decade.

Hardly stellar specs in comparison to a modern machine, but absolutely mind blowing for it's age and what it had to work with.

And then if you hack together some hardware to use modern PC hardware with it, and add that into the mix.... No wonder enthusiests still develop for the thing!

laugh.gif No, it's still in the box. Sometime this afternoon I'll start putting it together. I was doing some things on this one that I knew I had to get done, just in case I had a problem with the new one. I'll PM you when I'm going to start the project so you have a warning to put all the dishes away in case there is a very large boom from the north. wink.gif

I am enjoying my new computer that I got from MGD:

3.2 GH Pentium 4 with hyperthreading
1 GB ram
160 GB 7200 rpm hard drive
800 mh front side bus
128 mb radion graphics card
Sound Blaster Pro with decent speakers
both CD-RW and a DVD + RW drives (I transfered the CD-RW from my last 'puter)
a 19 " flatscreen CRT Monitor
Micrtotek scanner
Ph Laserjet printer

I didn't bother to add a floppy drive.

I'm a bit jealous of the Commador 64, though..... tongue.gif

How can you resist letting it stay in the box?

Ok Miss Annabelle, are you happy now!! I took the computer out of the box. Assembly will have to wait until I get back later. Sure is a lot heavier than the Compaq unit I have now. Guess that's because of all the "ZOOM ZOOM" in there. laugh.gif

I ain't never had no 19 inch, 24 dpi screen before. That will be sweet and so much easier on the eyes.

You're not the only one about to perform major surgery =) Got a HDD migration to start here very shortly wink.gif moving from a 160 to 250 GB as primary drive. Got a feeling / is going to take a while to cp.

Just hope that 2k can survive the migration. I think it has before though, so I should be good to go.
