You can add the Chicago South Side Irish Parade to the list of cancelled festivals.
It was cancelled after last year's parade due to unruly crowds coming in from the suburbs, ruining it for the rest.
It is being replaced by a weeklong series of events.
More often than not, festivals that go on hiatus, do not return but fortunately some do come back. There is still some time before the resurrection of this festival but it has been announced that after being shelved in 2007, the Dixon Scottish Games and Gathering will be held on September 24, 2011 in Dixon, CA.

I noticed from your profile that you are in Henderson, Kentucky. I held a contest, ending in the fall, where individuals could vote for their favourite pipe band. The prize was two rings for the most popular pipe band to be used to raise funds for their pipe band. The winner was from your neck of the woods in Evansville, IN. The Evansville Firefighters Pipe and Drum Corps received over 500 votes. They just recently held a draw for the rings at a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser.
