I'm eager to celebrate, because Brighid is my favorite deity. How should I honor her?

I would be flip and say "however you please", but you're new yet. wink.gif

There's tons of different ceremonies and rituals that have been put together to honor Brigit, and there's some online that I wouldn't blush too red at pointing you to. But for the absolute basics, you're looking at the colors red and white (some tack on black or pink, depending on what they're driving at in symbolism), candles, Brigid's Crosses, and some tack on lambs and sheep since it's the beginning of the lambing season.

Some things to meditate upon? Well, it's the dead of winter, and the earth sleeps. But soon, the season will change to spring, and now we're looking for those stirrings of life. The ewes are having their lambs, the sun is becoming stronger and the days just a tiny bit longer every day, the seeds for the gardens are beginning to be planned and planted, and we want to usher in the spring and encourage the fires of the sun by lighting our own. You might want to think about projects that can be done in this "down-time" until good weather returns, changes in yourself that are coming along slowly but surely, and the goals that will be at the end of that season.

Just a few suggestions, of course your mileage may vary. wink.gif

Changed my computer wallpaper this morning, from an image of pines and rock in deep snow, without thinking about the day -- then I remembered (or if you will, I was gently reminded smile.gif ). This is part of what Imbolc feels like to me. I know it's a little earlier than most people would give it, but the biggest part of the hope is in the growing of the light toward the equinox and that change is already very much here. These flowers always look like little bits of the sun itself coming through:

Bride (Brigid) is the goddess of the hearth among other things so you could light a fire in her honour and give thanks for the passing of one year and the start of another. Our Grove here is having a celebration on the 22nd since that is a weekend and we can celerbate all night. Blessed be!
