For those of you who are interested in civil war re-enacting, I attended an event this past weekend and took many photos...of course! rolleyes.gif

many of my friends were involved in this event and so that made it all the more fun. Wanted to share with you the photos I took to give you an idea what it is like to re-enact in AZ. This event was the Pichacho Pass at Picacho Peak, AZ. It was a small skirmish between the Union and Confederates....the confederates won. In fact, AZ was considered a confederate state for some time. This event occurs every second weekend of March if any of you are interested in attending. Here are some of my many photos!

Perhaps some of you will join us next year?

Hi Rose.

Went to Picacho Peak years ago for the reenactment. It was great! It's about a six hour drive form here, so I haven't been able to make it again. It is well worth the trip, though! Everyone was very friendly and enjoyed answering questions.

I always have wanted to reenact Civil War myself, but time and financial constraints have never allowed it. Thanks for promoting this great event! There is also a reenactment at Glorietta Pass in New Mexico every year, but I don't recall the dates.

Have a great day!

Nice shots! While I've been known to roam a goodly distance to hit an event...I think AZ's still a bit much for me. laugh.gif

C'mon over to my neck of the woods...we'll irritate the neighbors with the mountain howitzer and we'll hit Gettysburg. wink.gif

Hey Sekhmet! Oh goodness! You have terrific events in your neck of woods! Wish I could experience them! The re-enactment group I am involved in is seeking to do so. For what all we have planned and if all works out? We will be doing some serious traveling! So may see you yet....I hope! wink.gif biggrin.gif

Haynes! Know all too well about the Glorietta Pass event. My group is headed for there next. I don't do Civil War, War Between the States or whatever you choose to call it, but most folks in my group does. I *may* do it later on...*wink*, but will have to see. It is a very expensive hobby and I have done well to get as far as I have just doing 1745 Jacobites, French & Indian and RevWar. I really love 18thc anyway.

I will try to get the dates for the Glorietta Pass, NM event and post it here. wink.gif

Oops! Had to edit as I misspelled your name, Sekhmet. Left the "h" out! wink.gif

Nice pictures! I go to a few re-enactments a year in Western NY, Western PA, and Northern VA. t's neat seeing famiiiar uniforms in a setting I tend to associate more with John Wayne that with the Civil War.

laugh.gif laugh.gif Sekmet, just reading your above post. Your so funny!

For those interested in the Glorietta, NM Civil War event, the dates are May 5-6, 2007. Here is a website from 2004, but the information still applies. Hope that helps.

Mailagnus! Hubby and I LOVE the ole west re-enactments too. We see those up in Williams, AZ. I hear there are some around Tombstone, but we have yet to make it down there in a long time.

I'm generally in Gettysburg in early July and in November (Remembrance Day--see Gettysburg parade--I'm flag bearer of far right, without the white gaiter and another Gettysburg parade photo, far right, slightly different color uniform).

Cool photos! I would love to get to Gettysburg for Remembrance Day or one of the big reenactments. Great stuff!

LOL That's not western PA, that's central, leaning east. But we're at Remembrance Day too. Usually. This year I'm going to have to sit it out, but my boys will be there. We're the 11th PVI.

Hey! MMD! Really cool photos! Thanks so much for sharing! Love the uniforms and such. You live in some wonderful territory to be doing CW re-enactments. So much history and even yet to be discovered in the earth! Many thanks, again!

Many thanks, Rindy! For us Jacobite reenactors, the Flagstaff games is something we look forward to every year! I so love Flag anyway.

Haynes, I truly hope to see you this year. Hopefully we won't miss one another again as I will be betwixt and between our 1745 Jacobite camp and the Wicked Tinkers camp. But if you are open, we can exchange cell phone numbers so we can for sure meet up, ok? I would so love to meet you!

Latest news is that our re-enactment group needed insurance to do any event! The cheapest and yet best insurance was through the American Civil War Society. So I am a full fledged member and under their umbrella of their insurance. It also means I can do any period, especially the CW events! Will stick with 18thc, but may weasel myself into the civil war period as well at some point. wink.gif

I am going to Oregon the end of June. My BIL is in the Calvary for the First Texas Brigade CW re-enactment that will be participating outside of Salem while we are there. I am so excited and hope to get some good photos! If I do, I will be posting for you all to see! wink.gif
