Scots stand proud in accents poll

The majority of Scots are proud of their accents, according to a BBC poll of 5,000 people.

The online survey also found that Sir Sean Connery was the "most pleasant speaker" followed closely by Ewan McGregor and Billy Connolly.

In the UK as a whole, 54% said they were happy with the way they spoke, while 73% of respondents from Scotland said they were proud of their accent.

Have you ever noticed that when most people try to mimic a Scottish accent, they end up doing a bad Sean Connery impression biggrin.gif ?

There are actually quiet a few native Scottish actors who are wonderful but Sir Connery is my favorite. He will always be the best "007" .

I love Gerald Butler, Robert Carlyle and Billy Boyd's Scottish accent too! Sir Sean Connery seems to have lost a lot of his accent.

Mr. Butler does have a nice accent. Of course, it wouldn't matter what accent he had! He looks as good as his accent is!

I think I read somewhere that maybe Butler might be the next James Bond.

That's funny. I heard just the other day that Hugh Jackman -- an Aussie -- might be the new Bond. He's a hunk too! dribble.gif

Maggie! While you do your search on Hugh Jackman, look up the movie, Van Helsing. He was really hot looking in that movie!

Actually, I heard either Ewan McGregor or Dougray Scott was going to be the next "Bond. James Bond."

laugh.gif Oh really?! Well Ewan MacGregor will do just fine then. He has a sexy Scots accent too! I even heard Clive Owen's name mentioned too as a possibility.
