I've been reading "The Chronicles of Faerie-The Hunter's Moon" by O. R. Melling which is a story involving Ireland, faeries, and two cousins. Young Adult section if you are interested. Its a good read. Anyway it got me looking more into the mystical history of Ireland. While browsing on the net I came across this website which has a ton of info. It covers New Grange, Tara, etc. So take a look if you are intrigued by history, myths, and legends, You may find the veil between worlds slowing begining to disappear. Check out the section on the High Man. Very Interesting!

Looks like an interesting book- went to Amazon and found a used copy for $2.25. I read so much on my laptop that I actually look forward to holding a real book in my hands.
The mythicIreland website really absorbs me and I can get lost there for quite awhile. Full of wonderous stuff to activate the heart and soul to imaginative adventure.
Thanks for reminding me.

1,500 PEOPLE CREATE UNIQUE APPEAL

On Sunday 23rd September 2007 1,500 people converged on the Hill of Tara, Co Meath, Ireland to form the first human harp image. This was accompanied by the message SAVE TARA VALLEY. At 3.15pm in the afternoon the helicopter swooped down to snap the images on the hill beside the iconic monuments.

How cool would that have been, to have been one of those 1,500 people!!!

I guess there were a few celbs there too including Stuart Townsend and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and ana ssociation of harps and singers protested outside the Dail Eireann
You sometimes wonder if we, still a young country are destroying most of our native monuments to make way for so called progress. Wasn't it last year that the one mountain that looked like a face (it was on the state's quarter) finally crumbled. We have resturant in twon that has been here for years. Best pizza in the world. The building was built to look like a ski chalet. They have recently redone it adding an italian grocery store but now it look like any modern resturant with a bad shade of green vinyl shigles. Very depressing.

I Wasn't it last year that the one mountain that looked like a face (it was on the state's quarter) finally crumbled.

That was New Hampshire's "Old Man of the Mountain." It's a real loss to New England tradition. There was a famous story about it by Hawthorne, called "The Great Stone Face." The Wikipedia article about it says:

"The Old Man was famous largely because of statesman Daniel Webster, a New Hampshire native, who once wrote: "Men hang out their signs indicative of their respective trades; shoe makers hang out a gigantic shoe; jewelers a monster watch, and the dentist hangs out a gold tooth; but up in the Mountains of New Hampshire, God Almighty has hung out a sign to show that there He makes men."

It fell from natural causes of erosion -- a rockslide. One morning in spring of 2003 the whole thing was just gone.

I would have like to have seen it but, time and money, as they say. Have you seen the Ardmulchan video over at the website. Beautiful footage though a little bit repetitive. It's under the What's new at MI section.
