Do you suffer?

One can not profess to be of "GOD" and show intolerence and prejudice towards the beliefs of others.

I have been a carpenter for over 30 years. Those years are like "dog years" in that each one has aged my body well past my 55 years. My knees are shot, as are my shoulders, back hips and ankles. I told my son not to do this, but he didn't listen. While it is a good trade, it takes a MIGHTY toll on us. I think the next time some paper pusher tells me he "works" for a living, I just might smack him upside his head! You do NOT work for a living, you just have a job!

Hoka Hey! The more Liberals I meet, the more I like my dogs!
And if I'D known I was going to last this long, I'd have taken much better care of myself.
I do have to disagree that physical labor is the only thing that wears you out. The stress of high-responsibility "paper-pushing" jobs takes it out of you from the inside. I've worked a few jobs that might make a guy long for a roof repair to do, a good hammer, plenty of room to swing it and somebody to pretend you're hitting, all in the open air.
I think this joke it too funny but Shadows...no offense but don't tell me that you feel all of these now...and even if they call it the Golden Years...I wouldn't call it that as I know a lot that are over sixty and still very much in shape and don't look their age at all...
I think that as long as one feels young at heart one doesn't feel old on the outside. There is always of course one's health to consider for sure though.
But in all I think that if one can take care of oneself...well all of the above will appear much later then the 60's and even 70's.
Just my two pence.

I did not mean this to represent my condition...even though I do suffer... I have worked hard as a laborer and as a paper pusher... I raised 6 kids and live a life not common to most... We heat with wood, garden, and carry our water on most occassions....
I know folks older then me who are in better shape, but one must deal the cards dealt...
I do not take offense, but I do suffer as does my wife...

I was just teasing you Shadows...of course no one should judge without knowing but I do know and understand what it is to suffer pain...but I do try not to let it show all the time as it tends to bring the spirit down.
Just remember--getting old is not for wimps or cowards.
Thank God I don't have all of Cat in the's Hat's problems ! Now that I'm retired I can honestly say the jobs that were physically hard had a more lasting effect on my body than the paper pusher ones. But having raised 5 daughters I guess I have a high stress threshold.
