I've become interested in kayaking. Not on whitewater but more likely on calm lakes, ponds, etc. Anyone here experienced at it and willing to lend advice?

I have done a bit of Kayaking, although it was whitewater and my advice is this, if someone tells you not to go out they mean it one of my friends and his kayaking teacher almost died in bad weather once, so heed warnings Is all I can say
