Celtic Radio Community > General Discussion > November- Thankful Month

Posted by: Annabelle 31-Oct-2003, 01:39 PM
Since November has Thanksgiving I think we should use more than one day to appreciate those things.
I want us to have a place during the month of November when we think of things that have become special to you or that you appreciate... post them here and tell us what they are that are so special to you and why?

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Well. Even though Thanksgiving has come and gone, (Oct 13th up here), I'll indulge.

I'm thankfull for my health, my girl, my pup, my house, my car, my truck, and the love of my family. king.gif

I am Thankful for my Health (Not Dead Yet) and my Friends (Which grows everyday). clap.gif

I'm much grateful for all second chances in life, for all the interesting twists and turns on the life path so far, the fact that I can be around to make my Mother's life easier as she gets older, the fact that I discovered at age 50-some that I had a flock of half-brothers and half-sisters (Scottish father's second brood) I had no idea I was related to, the siblings I did grow up with, good friends that go back to childhood, newer good friends I met since then.....so many things to be both grateful and thankful....the list goes on longer than an Oscar acceptance speech!

And, of course, that after falling 4 stories while I was in The Army (1968) I'm even alive to tell about it, let alone get paid for it, surf and do all the outdoor stuff I've been up to since then!

......And I'm glad that so far the "luck" bag hasn't emptied before the "experience" bag has filled. Hope there's still some in the former and room in the latter!

I sincerely wish the same to all of you as we approach the Holiday season!

When I was asked this question last week, I wrote a book on it. Of course I have all the usual things to be thankful for. A loving family, a roof over my head (and I don't have payments on it either to boot =) ), an education....

Also, right now I find myself in a situation that I hear people dreaming for all too often. I have money to be able to do things with if I want, and all the means to do whatever I want to, now if only I knew what that was. I have a grudge against Old Rome, keep that in mind as you read this analogy; If all roads lead to Rome, than I've got everything I need to go anywhere, I'm in Rome, and don't know which road to take, I'm kindof standing at that pillar marking where all roads converge, everything packed, with a dumb look on my face and wanting to get out of town.

Part if the trick is, I don't want to mess it up. I'm about to pay off the first loan I've ever had, and be completely out of debt again. I'm ready to make a big move in my personal life and don't know what I want it to be. I have employment, and like the environment I work in. But it's a dead end job and I know it. My question now is, "Where do I want to go from here?" I sure know I don't want to spend the rest of my career on the recieving end of a help-desk line no matter how much I like the environment I'm in and the people I work with, it will have to change eventually I guess

Same here, my sister! I have a cabin in the mountains that just sold and as soon as it clears escrow, I, too, will be completely out of debt for the first time in seven years. The place sold back in August but the deal fell through and I was lucky enough to get another offer before winter snows sit in up there in the Sierra so I'm chewing my fingernails that the deal goes through this time.....I can almost smell the air of financial freedom again, but won't believe it until the escrow check is in my hands!!!

As for your job, be happy that you have one and when the time comes and a better one comes along you'll be ready to jump on it because you can and not because you HAVE to find one to keep food on the table and the wolves away from the door.

Good luck and count your blessings!

Same here, my sister!

laugh.gif Take a closer look at Aaediwen, McHaggis. I see a Knight, not a Damsel.

As for financial freedom. Good on both of you. smile.gif I've still got two student loans, a car payment, and a mortgage. sad.gif It's a long way up to the tip of this gorge. Hey, at least my car and truck are payed off. It's just Angela's now. But, in all honesty, being only 24, I do count my blessings that I can at least get those loans, allong with the comfortable life they give.

beer_mug.gif Here's to car loans worth more than your car. laugh.gif

Oh, Aaediwen, how I relate! After 13 years all of my kids are in school. I feel I have that same dumb look on my face as I look about me at all the road that are converging at my feet. Which path to take! I thought I knew until the time actually came.
Let me know when you lose that look, maybe I'll have lost mine by then as well. laugh.gif

Whatever road ya choose, don't take the one to Babylon...in the Rastafarian sense, that is.

Whoops! OldRaven....had me visor down and couldn't tell a kilt from a skirt at this distance. Time for that laser eye surgery to correct this astigmatism, I'm thinking.

Thanks for the heads up!

"A bonnie Lass I must confess"
"is pleasant to the eye"

How are you going to see the bonnie lasses if you think they are guys?
...do you want me to come over and drive you for your appt?

We heard you were going to use braile to determine the sex of individuals but the guys said "no way" and the girls went running.

So what time do I pick you up for your appt?

I can understand the vision issue it now causes me to remove my glasses for reading and I hate it tongue.gif

Uh hmm but I am thankful first of all for my wife of 21 years ( I was only 8 when we married but it was legal in the part of Kentucky that we are from)

Also I'm thankful for 3 wonderful tiny toy poodles (2 of which have passed on) that have been a true joy to my wife and I since we have never had children.
The music that we have been able to make together and the unbelievable success that we have had with it, the 12 years that we spent together as OTR truck drivers, and a house that we do not feel the wind blow in the winter and that the air conditioning cools perfectly in the summer.

Do I really look that feminine online?? LOL. You're not the first, McHaggis. I was chatting with some people in a chatroom one day and when I started talking about www.sacred-texts.com then one wonderful lady in the room /msg'd me asking my gender. Appearantly, she had already heard of that site on some primarilly female forum somewhere and found herself thinking I was a sister for some reason. /me shrugs

Add to that, the fact that I like some stuff from Lisa Thiel.... well, maybe it's safer if you don't draw your own conclusions. Maybe I am soft, but I'm certainly not afraid of it. (insert challenge here!)

As far as the decisions on which road to take out of Rome (lighting fires as I go?), I'll try to keep ya posted.

Married at 8? Even Campton doesn't do that anymore do they? /grin (do not mean to offend in any way)

May the Goddess and God keep you and yours.

November? Thankful. I guess besides the obvious (family, health etc.) I am really thankful that we are one month closer to spring!! Especially after waking up this morning to snow.

Posted by: Annabelle 04-Nov-2003, 12:32 PM
You know there was a reason that I started this conversation and I believe I forgot to mention why. I am thankful for these things too!

#1 I want to Thank "Paul" The Great and Mighty Oz for developing this site

#2 I want to Thank "Scottish2" who had the kleenex out one day I needed it, he was there for me...or I would have just unsubscribed. Thanks!

#3 I am also thankful for the friends I have made thru this site...believe it or not, there have not been any Cyber-stalkers here. Isn't that great! Just people meeting and becoming friends...

Maybe the "Great and Mighty Oz" should run for President! I hear the position is coming open soon...

I'm thankful for my wonderful hubby, my 3 daughters, 3 grandchildren, the 4th on the way, my 3 son in laws, my dear sweet mother, 1 sis, 2 brothers, their families, friends, food, shelter, the air that I breathe, my clothing, my vehicle, my horsies, my health, my job, my computer, without it I wouldn't be here getting to know you people all over the world, for Paul king.gif who has went above and beyond the call of duty to keep this site up and working, and my freedom. I also am thankful for God who allows me to have all these wonderful people and all the material things in life.

Happy Thanksgiving !!!!
Be Thankful!

I am thankful for all of you, My children, My Best Friend (RWF) It took me years to find her. The heart ache I went through finding her was worth every moment. I am thankful for my Husband even if we don't always agree. I am Thankful for every day that I have here in this life time, it's not always easy and there are times when I want to give up , but I always make it through and I am stronger for it. I am thankful for the chance to help those who are less fortunate then I am.... I guess I am just thankful for being me and having a life that I can enjoy with Friends, Family and every one inbetween. The Material things are nice but I must say that the spiritual blessings we recieve are so much better.

Lets take this up a Notch

If you could have 1 wish, no matter what it is, what would it be?

I'll save mine for later...............

With Love & Thankfulness to you all,
Angel angel.gif
