It could be better...

...it could be $1.99 like it was this time last summer...

...oh, the good ol' days!

When I was in college, two bucks worth of regular in my '65 Corvair would get me home, about 60 miles, with gas to spare. Now two bucks worth is just enough to get me down the street to the next gas station.

Some smart-a** called a local radio station and requested Johnny Cash's classic "Five Feet High and Rising" this morning. The dumb-a** dj actually played it.

In his honor I present:

How high's the gas price, momma?

$3.299 and rising.

Here in Huntington IN. The gas price is $3.29 a gallon. I call it price gouging. I can remember aq couple of years ago. The gas companies that tried to raise the prices so much got fined for it. I think they should do that now.
My husband is a truck driver. It came over the message board to watch out. Cause people was stealing fuel from other trucks. That would really s**k.

QUOTE (Rindy @ 02-Sep-2005, 04:01 PM)
Hey there!

Amy, I have a 2004 Camry and love it. I am getting about the same as you per gallon. Gas here in Wyoming was $1.89 as of yesterday.. I don't know but I am so glad I didn't buy a SUV.. Thought about it.. I was thinking the same with the hybrid kind of wish I would of waited.. What color is yours? Mine is blue..a strange blue..
Have a good weekend everyone..

Slainte smile.gif

Hey Rindy!!

How funny...mine is 'mineral green' which means it is like a green, silver, gray, blue-ish color. I wanted white but they had none on the day I was shopping...so liked this one...I have driven a van for...8 years I think...and it was strange to move back into a car but my oldest is driving her own car now (really her Dad's car he sent from Colorado for her to use) so usually when I am going someplace it is just me & my little guys and I am VERY happy to be driving a car now with the gas the way it is!! I think MDF3530 has it right...an arm..a leg...then the first born...wish we had a subway or a good bus system to use in the very least...but...oh well...we don't!

Hi all,

Our prices are way up there, too. I filled up last week - price was $2.959 for regular unleaded at the cheapest place around. I've seen it up around $3.299 at other stations here, though, and climbing. It used to take $20.00 to fill our tank, but last week it was $40.00, and we weren't even under a quarter-tank to start with! sad.gif

We've been very glad we signed up for the price cap offered by our heating oil company. You pay a monthly bill, for 12 months, instead of just paying as your tank is filled during the Winter months. With the oil prices going up and up now, it made sense to grab onto that plan in the long run! Wouldn't it be nice if the gas stations would implement similar plans for their best customers? rolleyes.gif tongue.gif

Our prices jumped from 2.799 to 3.299 by the end of last week. Yesterday they went down to 2.999. I heard that natural gas is going up 71 percent, heating oil 30 some precent and electricity 17 percent. Sounds depressing, don't it? I have a fireplace and can always get wood to burn. I know there are many that will have a hard time trying to pay their heating bill this winter.

The price went down to $2.97 yesterday. The price usually goes up for the weekend and down on Monday.

Good Morning Rindy
9 cents around here is usual. We have the big tank about a 1/2 mile from here so they don't have to go to far to get it. The same company provides for the whole area so they stay about the same.

I just wish it was as cheap here as it is for you.

Well spare a thought for us Down Under, we are paying 1.40AUD per litre at present. It's gone up 40c per litre (about $1.80USD per gallon) in the last few weeks.

That puts our fuel roughly twice the price you are paying in the USA. Fuel in Scotland and England is even dearer!

At this rate we'll all be buying bicycles.
