Roberto, If I'm not mistaken this is the games in Waukesha. I went last year and had a great time. Small compared to IrishFest, but good amount of fun and shopping!

Fun and shopping is always a good thing. My wife has to work that weekend but I'm hoping to be able to sneak down. I've been trying to get down for the last three years with no luck.

Please do! We have the best Games ever in store for you this year!
They are indeed in Waukesha. Just south of I-94 at the Waukesha Expo Center.
For complete details, check out the Games Guide at:
We have some great live music: Mother Grove, Sandcarvers, Atlantic Wave, and lots more, at St. Andrew's Pub Tent. Music runs all day long and well into the night, Sat. and Sun. Sept. 1st and 2nd.
We'll also have live music at the Opening Ceremonies party Friday night (Aug. 31st).
I'm dropping hints to the wife every chance I can. I think I'm kind of shopped out at Irishfest. There are still things I would like to get but I'm not in that salary range yet. Maybe someday. But I was kind of bummed that I couldn't find a decent kilt pin this year. Mine was borrowed/stolen. I'm also hoping to pick up some good Scottish CD's too. Irishfest didn't have any Albannach.
Quick question, for anyone who has been to the Highland Games -- is there a way of getting there that doesn't involve driving? I'll be coming from Milwaukee, but alas, I have no car. I hear the Milwaukee buses do connect with the Waukesha bus system eventually, but after that I'm hopeless.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

It looks like you would take Milwaukee County Transit System Route 10 down Wisconsin Avenue to the Brookfield Square Park and Ride. Then switch to the Waukesha Metro Transit Route 1 and go to the Downtown Transit Center, where you would need to then take WMT Route 9. It doesn't look like there's a stop at the Expo Center, but just down the street on Northview Road.
No idea what the times are for these. It does say that Route 9 doesn't run on Sunday.
Also there's a Coach USA route that runs from Brookfield Square to the Transit Center.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do all that research for me -- you've turned my pipe dream into my official weekend plans I truly appreciate all your help.
Looking forward to the festival; I promise a full report Sunday (if I don't end up lost in downtown Waukesha )
With a little luck we may get down there this weekend. M'Lady wants to stop at Bristol ren faire to pick up a smoking dragon incense burner. I just want to get a hold of some arse kick'n scottish music. Maybe compete if they have spots for latecomers in some of the competitions. Pretty good at archery but I'd like to try a hand at tossing something other than a pint. If I come down ther I'll make sure I stop at the MacEwan tent. Maybe we will offically join a clan if possible. All our decendents were septs of the MacDonald clan but there doesn't seem to be anything official in the family tree.
going to try to get there for at least half of a day. Not sure which yet. All depends on when ShadowDF's working. I'm guessing at this point that it won't be until late sunday afternoon.

Excellent -- If I'm not there, they'll say, "You just missed him!" -- I'm on the Games staff and I will be roving quite a bit. I also might be announcing the heavy athletics. But you can definitely catch me onstage with my band Atlantic Wave on Saturday at 1:30 and Sunday at 3:00 (I'm the tall one).
Yea!!! ShadowDF was able to switch shifts so we'll be there Saturday!!!! Shouldn't be too hard to pick us out...he'll probably be one of the darkest ones on the grounds!
